For those like me that get super bored while running, instead of listening to music that can throw you off pace you can try audiobooks. Great way to get through books and multitask.
Im 24. Never been a runner, never done a race etc or even ran more than a mile before. But im working on running my first ever 5k in the spring. Thanks for the tips bud! Your iron man series inspired me to get in shape and learn more about diet and what to eat etc. Again, thank you for the great content Nick
Been a while since I've had my Bare dose of videos. Dudes more determined than ever! Absolutely killing it. In need of a shaker/protein/creatine I know where I'm going for all that!
Personally, I find listening to military cadences during my run has really helped me. Grant it, that's how I ran for six years when I was in. But, works great for me.
For real the customer service is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I ordered two tubs of protein and they were shipped within MINUTES of when I ordered. That’s crazy fast. Keep killin it guys! Can’t wait for the field bars to drop!
Love my Traeger. 100% agree it's an incredible investment. Best thing I've ever made on it was brisket. 18 hour smoke with a simple salt and pepper rub a la Franklin BBQ. Killer.
Dude, Nick, you're inspiring! Doing all the things I want to get better at: a faster mile pace, cycling endurance, fitness, size, and strength. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Just an FYI if you would like to become more efficient while running try getting your cadence between 180-190. Preferably closer to 190. you can do this by having a metronome and running with it for about 5 minutes or a mile. So when you are fatigued and your cadence naturally drops you will be closer or even in the range of 180-190 still and still being a bit more efficient. Hope this advice helps
Hey Nick! Throw some wings on the Traeger. You're about 45 minutes & your favorite dry rub away from some of the best wings you've ever had in your life. Smokey, juicy & impossibly crispy (seriously... I still haven't figured out the sorcery)
Personally I don't like listening to music while running, it gets me out of my concentration and I can't hear my environment as well. When i have my earbuds in i usually listen to a metronome. Its boring but for my concentration and rhythm it works perfect. Once again a great video, thank you Nick! Greetings from the Netherlands.
I start the Los Angeles Sheriffs academy in a month and the “hurt vs injured” idea is going to feel very real, real quick 😂😂😂 thank you for the tips man!
Foretell honestly I’m ready for it at this point. I’ve seen so much hate online that all I can hope is that if I carry myself professionally, so will those around me and I won’t have any issues lol wishful thinking I’m sure
Nick I love your stuff man look forward to these vids, could you do a video on how to train when you’re injured and maybe share some advice for guys temporarily “out of the game”? emphasis on TEMPORARY
I usually sprint-walk for a mile before running. For proper running gear advice, visit your local Podiatrist (DPM). Great inspirational video as usual!!
I absolutely love my Traeger! My favorite is a smoked Boston butt (pork shoulder). If people want a more affordable option, I have a smaller one I payed probably 550 for and can easily smoke a whole turkey...I know because I did it for Thanksgiving this year haha
Thanks for the running tips, I ran my best time today on my 2mile run for my pt test, 13:48. I have definitely done one if not all the tips you said. It has really helped. Keep on grinding.
Hello! Just to let you know, a tempo run shouldn't be faster than race pace. It should be faster than you would run normally, but not quite race pace. :)
Have you ever studied what happened to PATAGONIA sales AFTER they decided to plan to DONATE all REVENUE made on Black Friday 2016? Skyrocketed, plus a massive percentage of those Black Friday purchasers were new customers.
i breathe in sync with my steps. starting out is like breathe in for 3 steps and breathe out for three steps. Then it moves to 3 steps in and exhale over 2 steps. when i'm settled into my pace the breaths are 2 steps on the inhale and 2 steps on the exhale. If i'm breathing faster than that it is during a sprint. cheers!
Any tips on knee pain? I start getting knee pain on my left and my right is perfect no pain. Sometime I feel like it’s because I put more weight on my left but may be in my head.
referralhelper weak glutes most likely. Start by doing leg lifts everyday, laying on your back, stomach and sides. About 3 sets each of 10x 5 second holds each side. If pain persists after about a month go see a physical therapist, had the same issues and this worked for me.
Hey nick and RUclips I got a herniated disc while training for the police academy. My academy starts in January, do y’all have any advice on what I could do to heal before then? I’m on my 2 week mark and the pain has subsided a bit but I’m still having a dull pain in my buttcheek and I can not bend over fully. I stretch 3-5 times a day. Anything helps and thank you!
Hey guys, need some advise. So ive been running long distance for about 2 years now. And last year i ran a half marathon in albuquerque. But as of july, ive been getting a pain/discomfort behind my right knee, on the cartilidge like muscle. Any advice on how to treat this?
@J H I've noticed if I run on a treadmill that I'm like pounding that thing with my feet almost stopping the tread for a second landing so hard. Its hard to control that though
If you want to run faster guys, run more often, do targeted running workouts and stop lifting heavy ass weights. Have you ever seen a fast guy who is also jacked?
Another way to “warm up”, specifically to warm up lungs and get oxygen into the body, is the Wim Hof method. Or any other deep breathing technique really
First of all thank you for Sharing this great Ironman prep, very impressive. Do you have any experiences with sleep Supplements for improved recovery or is this bullshit ?
It's not the belly... it's the diaphragm... It's called belly breathing and cyclists have been doing it forever.... The key is to breath to the bottom of your lungs... You should feel it in your lower back and the bottom of your stomach... It's also important to get your breaths out... get rid of the CO2 accumulation...
Maan you cant have ketchup on your burgers. Use bbq sauce. Its a game changer. You can have dressing to if you want. But no ketchup. And bbq instead is game changing
For those like me that get super bored while running, instead of listening to music that can throw you off pace you can try audiobooks. Great way to get through books and multitask.
I’m glad you commented this because I have this problem on treadmill training sessions. Somehow I’ve never thought about this tho lol
Yes, but books still have a rhythm.
Podcasts too!

How did it go?!
Been a while since I've had my Bare dose of videos. Dudes more determined than ever! Absolutely killing it. In need of a shaker/protein/creatine I know where I'm going for all that!
I'm currently training to join the French Army (cause I'm French) and you are a big inspiration man. Thanks for everything you are doing 💪✌️
Alexandre ATTI thanks for the explanation as to why you’re joining the French army. If you didn’t tell me I wouldn’t have know😂😂
Pas besoin de train c'trop easy
@@danehales2021 Happy to help man 😂✌️🇫🇷
@@mattpayke7758 Mieux vaut trop faire que pas assez 😊✌️
Alexandre ATTI haha hope you didn’t take it the wrong way. All jokes brother
Nick, great tip on running with music and using the beats per minute, really helped improved my run
“Move feet faster”
Broke my foot at mile 25 of my first marathon 4 years ago. Finished that last mile .2 faster than any mile during the race. I was hurt and injured.
Benjamin Kelley some would say you didn’t run hard enough if you ran fastest at the end
Good times!
Looking forward to the contributions Jordan will make to the team!
Personally, I find listening to military cadences during my run has really helped me. Grant it, that's how I ran for six years when I was in. But, works great for me.

Just joined the one more challenge. Pumped for Austin marathon prep!
Surprised Nick doesn't have more subs.... My dude is going down in history!
Such a great person man!
Tip 1... and now I actually understand what a warm up is! Class. Thanks

Hey Nick!
Throw some wings on the Traeger.
You're about 45 minutes & your favorite dry rub away from some of the best wings you've ever had in your life.
Smokey, juicy & impossibly crispy (seriously... I still haven't figured out the sorcery)
Dakota Meyer knows how to make an entrance. Love how you have him just fly in, say about 3 sentences and then fly out. Total badass move.
Brisket on the Traeger is amazing!!!
Great video Nick, you're absolutely right about the warm-up, great for injury prevention too. Sounds like you've really developed as an athlete :)
Come here for the word “ON”.
Underrated comment.
My personal favorite is “workout”
“Scoop” is where it’s at

What kind of torture is that?
I appreciate the running tips.
Tip #1- Do strides #2- Incorporate HIIT/Vo2 max training #3- Get used to the pain and do not run when your injured

You can also talk to physical therapy. We teach people pepper running techniques and running shoes to use. Army PTA here
Get a smoke tube! It will add a more Smokey flavor! Don't forget to clean your Traeger out once a week if you use it a lot!
Yabba dabba doo, can't wait to try the new protein! Sounds delish!
First time I saw Dakota Meyer was on Jocko Podcast. Superb episode. It would be cool to have you on the Jocko Podcast too.
Love my Traeger...Game Changer!
Bro, Dakota Meyers landed his chopper on your lawn?!
There’s nothing like watching another dude wring the ball sweat out of his running shorts.

Prob a good idea to go for an open water swim if the IM is in open water. Two different animals swimming in a lake than in the ocean!

Hello! Just to let you know, a tempo run shouldn't be faster than race pace. It should be faster than you would run normally, but not quite race pace. :)
Stride length x Stride frequency, increase them.

When you would stop for water or to take a break, did you stop your watch?
When I try to run the front of my shins feel like i just did a full leg workout and mobility in my ankle goes from 100% to like 30%. Any tips?
@J H I've noticed if I run on a treadmill that I'm like pounding that thing with my feet almost stopping the tread for a second landing so hard. Its hard to control that though
Run on the balls of your feet and don’t run off the ground think about just lifting your legs up and moving forward
Foam roll your shins and strengthen your calves and Achilles.
Just got cinnamon roll protein powder and it's absolutely amazing. Can't wait for the Black Friday sale.
stop leaving out THE 10K!! still nice vid tho man

you should be able to keep your same cadence weather you're running a 10 min mile or a 6 min mile
