This interview was in 1979. Glen didn't even marry Kim until 1982. The children from that marriage came afterwards. so he is talking about his children from his first two marriages in this interview.
Kind of sad to watch this. Great entertainer, singer, guitarist. But really should have never disrespected any of his ex wives and seems detached from the children he had by them. I think they paid a big price. But Glen gave alot of joy and left us with beautiful music. Sad for his older children.
Not a good interview.. lol 😂.. but so what he came out of this time of his life and continued to display the God given genius he had to play the guitar and sing so wonderfully!… my wife and I were blessed to see him perform live in an open field on a plantation in thomasville Ga in 2005 .. playing classical gas on the guitar ,, playing and singing his greatest hits as well … what a wonderful night of entertainment…it was literally magical!
Glen was pretty messed up here in Las Vegas. He almost od from cocaine around this time. Dick Maurice had a tragic end died of aids. Glad Glen got it together in the 80's 70's was a fast rough time for him of great career success but personal demons of Fame came roaring.
This is painful to watch. This era was Glen's worst for substance abuse (alcohol, cocaine). From the various Glen Campbell bios here on RUclips, we learn from the ones who watched him going through those years that he wasn't the same Glen Campbell that is the real man. He has admitted himself that he's a jerk when he's under the influence. I sometimes wonder if, once he got sober, he watched interviews and/or performances that he was embarrassed about. I don't do substances, so I don't know how or why it changes some people. I have seen it in my family. I've seen alcohol make a sweet, good-natured person mean and a witty person lose the ability to say the hilarious things they were known for and yet they still thought they were a hoot. It was so sad to watch. I feel that same sadness when I watch this. One can only wonder if he hadn't monkeyed with his brain cells, they would have lasted a lot longer. Perhaps he would eventually have been stricken with Alzheimer's but not so early.
Squee Dow It is true that substance abuse can cause Alzheimer's. I read somewhere that he wondered whether his drinking and drugs helped cause his condition. Many of the rockers of late are passing away fairly young, likely because of the substance abuse in their youth. Then later in life I bet they wish they hadn't done it...but it's too late. He had such a life though...packed with so many experiences and career accomplishments which made him a legend.

I'm sure this interview was the heavy drugs days. Love his music though...guess his last 3 children were the only ones he was really good to.
You can really can see more of the dark side (which I suppose we all have), the temper in particular. "I'll take my belt off...." and then "I don't care if they are 20" but fact is Glenn, at 20 they might damn well take it was from you, and shuck your ass. Then again, he would probably say "they would be welcome to try" and he might well mean it. But the entire line of thought about beating someone for doing wrong...that's a hell of a way to go down a path with his own kids. I'll be there is some pent up (or not pent up) hostility from them, toward their Dad.
I guess I’m old school. I believe in disciplining children if they lie, cheat or steal. I raised three amazing young men. I guarantee you, none of them would tell you I was a mean parent.

I met Glen Campbell in 1982. He was in a rough time in his life. But his wife helped him through that, eventually. He was a great, great man.

I know...when he watched this later...he was just feeling so bad.....I wonder how "high" he is.....God love him.....I just love him!!

Glen Campbell was a real person. He wasn't perfect but he was good hearted and had good intentions. Interesting interview.

I came here because someone said Dick Maurice was a funny man. And the best funny men are honest men and that's what he showed here.
