  • Dr. Katalin Karikó will talk about her pioneering research in mRNA vaccine technology. The Hungarian-born biochemist’s discoveries provided scientists with the tools necessary to develop mRNA vaccines for COVID-19.
For her entire career, Dr. Kariko has focused on messenger RNA, or mRNA, the genetic script that carries DNA instructions to each cell’s protein-making machinery. She was convinced mRNA could be used to instruct cells to make their own medicines, including vaccines.
Dr. Karikó is the senior vice president at BioNTech RNA Pharmaceuticals and adjunct associate professor of neurosurgery at the University of Pennsylvania. Born in Szolnock, Hungary, Karikó moved to the United States in 1985 to pursue postdoctoral studies at Temple University in Philadelphia. She was recently profiled in the New York Times, and in the Guardian.
Dr. Karikó has just been named as the 2022 recipient of the prestigious Vilcek Prize for Excellence in Biotechnology and recently received the 50th Annual Rosentheil Award for Distinguished Work in Basic Medical Research with her Penn colleague Professor Drew Weissman. Their work laid the foundation for the stunningly successful vaccines made by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.
We are grateful for support of this webinar from the Vilcek Foundation and TriLink BioTechnologies.

    1 Year Later...
    Houston, we have a problem!
Major batch variability, seems this technology is not easy to scale up for mass production. Not a suprise given how incredibly complicated this is-- but shame on govt for pretending like this was do-able on an emergency timeline.
Would NEVER have been approved outside of EUA, and they d@mn well knew it.
I am confident these people did not take the products themselves.
If they did, they are not as smart as they think.
MOVING AT THE $PEED OF $CIENCE!

How many boosters we will need? What are the health implications of repeating vaccinations at such short intervals?!

How do we know that the sequenced code uplodaed by chinese specialists that is what we used to plug in and create the spike protein for mrnas is actually true? How do we know the info we were given is correct and safe? What studies were done before within the few weeks of getting this code we started using it for the mrna. I am lost and cant get info on how we determined this was best and legit before assuming and running with the info we were given.? Considering that their has been so much misleading from day dot from.china how can we trust this info. Sorry but it keeps going through my mind and would love to understand how we co confirmed this info would be ok. I have concerns regarding the spike protein in itself and am terrified about my vac appointment
