Over 30 years ago an Air Force buddy gave his wife power of attorney because he was going TDY. When he came back she didn't pick him up. She sold the house his car the furniture and disappeared. He had no recourse because he gave her power of attorney.
No steve someone can already spot and discern what would happen in the future. If you are an expat at your twilighlight years when your age is 60 and above and you enter into a relationships with very young women, in low educations, poor, no stable income ,with lots of family members, a bread winner, with no decent income for a living SURELY that relationships will end up in sorry state and ruined.
I had a situation with a Filipina here in the United States. We had a disagreement, and while I was at work her and a bunch of her friends came in and cleaned out the apartment. Fortunately, I had photos of the apartment and all the items that were taken so the police were able to track some of it down. Of course, there were charges filed for burglary that amounted to grand theft, but what happened after that I'm not aware of. Whatever they did find went into evidence and I never saw it again so a major lesson learned.
That's why i mentioned on 1 of your videos steve when you were talking about having a book about what happens to your stuff when you die You don't want to give too much information about yourself. If you had a heart attack or stroke and you had to spend a lot of time in hospital the person might use that book to empty your house and bank account. You could come out of hospital to find new tenants in your house because the girl you were involved with wasn't paying the rent And all your personal belongings gone. By giving people to much information you are supplying them with weapons and ammunition to use against you if things don't work out. Keep a secret bank account that only you know about don't tell anyone apart from your family back home. That way if things do go wrong you have money to start again or go back home.
I agree Steve but sometimes after a major medical issue that's when we find out how committed the person really is. I do agree with making sure the woman has some financial security when you pass away. But I still think its not a good idea to have a book in your home with lots of personal information. It might not be the girl herself a family member could get hold of the book and put tremendous pressure on the girl to give them money.
Good information to know and plan ahead. I've seen this happen in California a few times. Wives and girlfriends can become devious and easily change into a monster.
I heard it said many times to make sure you have a good attorney. But nobody mentions how to go through the vetting process to make sure you choose a good attorney you can trust. Nobody deliberately searches for a bad attorney
Ok but here's something you absolutely need to know and everyone who read your advice: The Phillipinnes doesn't just have a branch or a 'Copy' or a 'version' of the way things would work in the USA or Ireland or Australia etc. Nor does their justice system or their attorneys need work anything like the USA or France or etc. An Attorney, no matter how good you think they are - this may result in nothing in The Phillippines or something, or 'good luck' and it will not make a difference that "ya but I was smarter than the average bear and I KNOW a good attorney'. Really, everyone MUST get this through their minds and Steve has routinely dropped videos about this: You are NOT living in a parallel legal structure where they darn well BETTER follow the laws or else you'll get your lawyer on them. Put it this way: The Attorney is the best and most trustworthy in all the PH and a week later you'll just realize he's been told not to pursue this so i just kind of flakes off and soon he doesn't return calls. "Well... then I will get another Lawyer and guess what... I'm going to sue HIM then because.." No. No to this. Then you're visa will expire and won't be renewed. Nope, you won't be getting a lawyer from the US embassy to file a case against the PH or any such things.
Watch out for the short trips too, I went on a 16 hour day trip. My friend's wife called and said not to worry, they didn't get robed. She just took about 75% of the stuff and said that was her stuff. It was a quick divorce.
Regarding giving the opportunity at 8:40; I have told my kids over the years about this. An example wpuld be leaving a bicycle outside unlocked in view. This gives a person an "opportunity" to easily steal it than not. Its bad for the person stealing because it causes them to sin and for the person that loses the item. Dont give the opportunity to someone to do something they wouldnt have. Costa Ricans refer to this as "no dar papaya"
They need passwords and pin codes to do damage quickly so be careful who you trust and make sure they ARE trustworthy. If you get in a bad situation and the person who is supposed to be your life partner takes advantage of that, you've got the wrong person. There are bad actors in every culture. So important to make sure the woman you choose is of high character and watch what they do...not so much what they say. Choose wisely
I just watched a video from every man has a story it was titled life in prison for an American in the Philippines truly unbelievable heart breaking story
Do not give your Filipina access to things you are not willing to lose. With your money accounts, only give her access to one in which you alone have control of the funds coming in.
If you are renting a condo, house, or apartment, someone else has keys too. You need to find a way to secure the rental in addition to the keys they gave you.
Hey Steve good advice. Say I was wondering about that nice guitar you have on your wall in your living room. If you go into the hospital does anyone have dibs on it?? Just joking.
Years ago an immigration officer told me that if you get a green card for your wife, it doesn’t belong to her, it’s yours. There’s many stories of the wife running away as soon as she gets a green card. You keep the green card in a secure location, such as a safe deposit box. Also, if you think that she might run away, you have up to 2 years to have her deported. The immigration officer said that you can say any reason why you want her deported. You could even say something like, I don’t want her here because her feet stink. I don’t know if that’s still true, or if the rules have changed.

Powerful observation, "you really dont see the bad in people until a bad situation arises",. Aint that the truth...

That’s a shame, but it’s reality there…. Trust no one , keep a low profile…be careful who you invite to your crib…keep your cards hidden….

Very good video on being truthful about your property being stolen when you get sick or break up with your Gf..great video.
Great advice 👍

Very true
Then you have to do the monster mash.
Well here in USA it’s not that simple take everything away from your husband. Even he is in jail.

Trust God, watch out for everyone else. Keep your friends close, but vet them well.
