  • I have seen a lot of different RUclips videos about unboxing and installing the Countyline PHD100 Post Hole Digger (Auger) onto your John Deere 1025R. But no one has really posted an easy “Step-by-Step" - "How To” video of assembling it by yourself. Someone always helps with lifting the gear drive, main lift arm or auger. So, in today’s video I will show you how easily do this by yourself without any help of others.
    We used the PHD100 Post Hole Digger while putting in fence posts for our expanded Miniature Donkey dry paddock and it worked great.
    Thanks for stopping in to see us here at the Clear Creek Cabin. We really appreciate you support by subscribing to our channel and liking our videos. Don’t forget to turn on Notifications to know when we have uploaded a new episode.
    May God Bless until the next time we meet. Please take care and be safe when using any type of power equipment on your do-it-yourself projects…

    Enjoyed the video. Probably one of the better videos made on the PHD. The only part lacking for me was tightening the set pin on the PTO u-joint. Clarity in the instructions were as clear as mud for me. tks.

    Great video. If you swap sides with the tail light assemblies you can mount them inside the ROP and they won't be as vulnerable to getting broken or damaged.

    I think, when storing, the PTO end of the linkage slips over the bracket that you tied it to.
    I don't know for sure, but it looks like that is how it was designed to be used.
    Great video, quite informative.

      👍 Thanks for tuning in - I had watched several RUclips videos of guys assembling their post hole digger where 2 guys were struggling to hang the drive on the boom and thought there has to be a better way - Especially if you're attempting it by yourself. Believe me, I've been in your shoes way too many times doing heavy projects alone. So I always try to work Smarter instead of Harder - Key word here is "Try" (cause I'm not always successful) Thanks again for your comments and for tuning in to our channel...

    • @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm

      Thanks for watching - Yea I saw that somewhere - The guy let the boom/arm twist in the top link while installing/removing it - IMHO - That’s why you must install the yoke 1st to help keep it from twisting & make sure your lift arms don’t have too much sway when operating it- Thanks again

    Have you tired using it through hard rocky soil? I have a lot of clay and stone, and a lot of the fill used around my house it so hard I can barely dig into it with a shovel, I often need a digging pole to break it up. I've been looking at this post hole digger online but worried it might not handle the job.

    • @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm
      @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm  3 года назад

      Hi - Thanks for tuning in to our channel - In my experience you cannot use this anywhere there are heavy tree roots or large rocks in the soil - It worked just fine for me in hard clay - You just have to take it slow and only go a few inches at a time before lifting up the boom. Because of the limited PTO HP of the 1025r you have to be careful where you can use it. It can bury itself in a heartbeat. I believe it's probably better suited for larger category one machines >25 HP.

  • @jamescole3152

    Is the PTO drive shaft more contracted when the boom is up or down? Hard to tell from watching the video.

    • @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm
      @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm  Год назад

      The 2 piece shaft is extended when the boom is all the way up and is contracted the most when the auger is buried fully down into the ground✅

    On your tractor the three point hitch raises higher then mine. I cannot figure out how to get it to go higher. My bottom arm are 17” off the ground and everything I find on the internet they are about 24” off the ground. Any help on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

    • @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm
      @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm  2 года назад

      Hey Wesley - Thanks for tuning in - Did you try reversing the 3 point hitch arms? As you know the arms have one end shorter than the other? Also have you tightened (locked down) the lift adjustment knob under your seat (assuming you also have the 1025r?)

    I had wondered why you were digging postholes by hand earlier? Looks like you thought the same thing.

    • @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm
      @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm  3 года назад

      We dug all the posts by hand for the original paddock because we were rushing to get ready for the delivery of the 1st shed. At the same time we were loading heavy buckets full of manufactured sand - The backhoe acts as the "Ballast" for the front loader on this little tractor - The Post Hole Digger isn't heavy enough. For the 2nd paddock we had time to dig the post holes with the tractor's 3-point digger and then put the backhoe back on as ballast while loading another 20 tons of sand. Believe me my back paid the price for the 1st posts we put in - But it was good for the soul... lol
