What is the meaning of the "1" and "2" signs in 0:41 and 1:03?

I am happy to be corrected on this but from memory they are the number signs for special trains, back in the day when they ran the show specials it would be Train number 1 to the Showgrounds and Train Number 2 back to Spencer Street or Flinders Street
