tae actually said that he wrote this song because of jimin, the bird at the beginning refers to jimin, that was after a fight they had they went to the park at 4am and jimin there told him that he will always be his strength

AFAIK Tae was inspired to write this (with Joonie's help ofc) because of The Dumpling Incident. The bird he mentions in the first stanza stands for Jimin.

@WhatchaGot2Say Yes, Taehyung mentioned it in 2020 festa. After that incident, he was in a park and Jimin went drinking with Suga. Afterwords, he met up with Tae in the park and they made up. Its interesting indeed. They acknowledged that dumpling incident inspired two of their songs being- Friends & 4 o clock.

V wrote that song with RM's help. It was befitting for them to sing it together and they did so beautifully 😍
Actually both wrote and produced equally.
Rm wrote the verse part and tae wrote&composed the chorus💜
If you read the letters they both wrote for fancafe, they said that Joon and Tae composed the melody together and Joon wrote almost all the lyrics, translating Tae’s feelings, except for the start of the hook, which were provided by Tae.
Basically, Tae came up with the theme, the melody was written by both, and Namjoon mainly wrote the lyrics, inspired by Tae’s emotions.
what should I say? Tae's composing ability? Songwriting sentimentality? It's phenomenal.. Every melody tae made is sooo beautiful.. and feels so close to my soul..😭💜
And I'm really thankful to tae for forcing joon to sing with him😁
Edit: There was a little boy named Adam who suffered severe autism but whenever he listened to this song he always became peaceful and calm. His mom was so thankful that she posted this story on her sns as follows💜

It's so beautiful how Taehyung writes songs. He is so pure and innocent, like every song is a fairytale. Images like "when the moon falls asleep" or "it won't be brighter than you but I'll light a small candle" it's so pretty and sweet. Then we have that nostalgic and rough poetry that Namjoon brings with phrases like "the world strips me naked".
I am completely in love with their art.

Thanks for the reaction. RM and V wrote the song, RM helped V to express his thoughts, this is about his friendship with Jimin, that's why he was so emotional. In the behind the scene RM said that V wanted him to sing so army can hear his beautiful singing voice. This song is so calming.

This is the song that I listened to on loop for hours when I cried myself to sleep. I know it's TMI but 4 O' clock is just THAT song for me. I am glad you guys finally reacted to this and loved it!

Omg i had a similar story.
My frnd who was a kpop stan back in 2018 gave me this song cause i had few songs in my playlist and i was going thru a detox year from an abusive relationship.
This song became my comfort song and I listened to it on LOOP.
While studying, travelling, sleeping. I was never tired.
They say "you find bts when you need them the most".
Only after a full one year i recovered.
Then in 2019 i happened to watch their interview which was trending and instantly fell in love wid them.
To think that I listened to the song not knowing which member sang though i knew its a bts song it was but i never even tried to look it up.
Just their voices had calm me .
Its amazing trulyyy..

Then add RM, and we get pure beauty .

Taetae's deep heavenly voice is just unbeatable and addicting to ears.
I love that this song exists because Tae had that fight with Jimin over Dumplings. After Jimin got super drunk with Yoongi and called Tae to come and meet him at the park at 4am. While Tae waited for him he thought of this song and later created it with the help of RM.
Tae's ability to portrait the emotion with words and music amazes me! It's like I can feel his emotions, like I am there with him. This is why Blue and Grey is one of my favorite songs.
I love that after all their hurdles Tae and Jimin are best of friends! I love this song! 💜

V's voice is so soulful!!! When I listen to him singing, his voice goes straight to my heart like an arrow of love and strike all the strings of my heart. I cannot stop listening. It transports me to another dimension. It makes me go wandering in the universe where my imagination goes wild. Tae is unique, creative and talented. His stage and mystic presence is mesmerizing and I do not look anything or anyone else but him when he is performing. He is royalty and he is kind. He is humble and live his life in his own pace. His aura is like a magnet... is so positive that you get caught on in it. Tae-V is a great human being. I admire him. He is himself that is why he is unique. I love his voice and I love him as the son I never had.

My mom was/is my moon. Best friends. She passed away almost 6 months. There's a empty place in my heart that will never heal still my moon is with me. I hear her voice and she's in my dreams.
I know that V's grandmother past away 5 years ago. She raised him for 14 years. He wanted her to see him on tv.Special bond.I believe she's been looking down at him from above, proud of where he is, what he has become and continues to be.
Loved this song the very first time I heard it this FESTA. It is so beautiful.
Especially when you learn that this song is born out of the Taehyung & Jimin dumpling incident.
It is poetry.
It gives you a glimpse of how Taehyung sees the world with his eyes, and how Namjoon fully understands his younger brother Taetae to be able to marry their words together and create that beautiful world of moments shared between people who became family because of their dreams and their shared lives.
These beautiful dynamics of BTS is what makes their singing & writing so heartfelt, because it is almost always like a gift of the moments they went through that they earnestly want to share with their ARMY.
And it is also Taetae who told Joon to sing that part, Joon originally meant it to be for Tae but he convinced their producer and Joon that he can sing it with a little lowering of the note. And he was so right. Namjoon was so happy & proud about this, because it just proves he is a singer. I always love Joon & Tae's collaboration. They always produce subtle yet powerful statements together.
If you see behind the scenes RM didn't want to sing the part but taehyung encouraged him and it really suited his voice. Taehyung wrote this song for jimin and RM helped him. They made this song at 4 o clock in the park
I remember I heard in an interview that V wrote this song. Inspired by this one night that he waited for jimin to come back to the dorm. It was 4 in the morning, obviously, and he just waited at the park, wondering when jimin will appear and the moment of waiting for his bestfriend to come back inspired him to write this song.

I read it was about blue hour, similar to golden hour, exploring a moment in time and how both RM and V feel during that part of the day.
Even though I much prefer V’s vocals to RM’s (except in Rap), both of them brought such depth of emotion to the song that I was moved.
Music isn’t always about how many notes you can hit or technical skill but what it makes you feel.
That’s when it becomes art. 💜

Even though you could say a fight with your friend isn’t something you’d want to immortalize in a song, V did I think because the outcome of he &Jimin talking in the park in the wee hours afterwards solidified their special friendship. You see his tear at the end. RM helped him write this & I love that he also felt he should sing it with him. It’s a beautiful song.

This is the song that helped me through some panic attacks while I was working at my previous company under some serious distressing conditions. I would blast this in my car at the parking lot before I drive home. V's voice just calms me down like no other and RM's poetry simply reached my soul. I'm grateful for them 🙏
