dylan and the beatles. sounds about right for the 60s.
Indeed
The Beatles era
They owned it!:)
Bob Dylan too
Also Jimi Hendrix and early Led Zeppelin.
My top ten: (btw im definitely not a beatles fan🧢)
10: Please please me
9: A hard day's night
8: Let it be
7: Magical mystery tour
6: Help
5: Rubber soul
4: Revolver
3: White album
2: Abbey Road
1: Sgt Pepper's Lonely hearts club band
Edit: I changed it, abbey road went from 7 to second after listening it several times
Haha great list! Gotta love the Beatles!
Hate to break it to you, but Let It Be was from 1970.
@@TheListenerCanon but recorded in early 69 and i really don't give a fuck
@@joonazbest1207 Okay you have your own technicalities. However, I go by release date only. Even if the majority was recorded in 1968/69, it's still a 1970 album. But that's my own thing, you have yours.
Good for you! 👍
Great list. Do this for 70s and 80s. Also I would put The Piper at the Gates of Dawn here and The Doors debut higher, but thanks for appriciating In the Court of the Crimson King.
Also Abbey Road and the white album are overrated
@@glede9377 As a Beatles fan, Ima agree with u
@@glede9377 I can understand Abbey Road, but White Album for me is the Beatles at the peak of their creativity and their contradicting songwriting abilities. The album has so much different material within it, that it deserves the credit it gets.
@@JohnDoe-me9jh But the second disc isn't very good after yer blues there aren't many good songs. The first disc is amazing.
@@glede9377 I personally like the double Lennon songs of Everybody’s got something to hide, and Sexy Sadie. Personal preference, though.
I can agree that, the second side of the second disc, is quite horrible, although I kind of like Good Night.
My Top Ten:
1. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys
2. In The Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson
3. Revolver - The Beatles
4. Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatles
5. Sgt. Peppers - The Beatles
6. Abbey Road - The Beatles
7. Electric Ladyland - Jimi Hendrix
8. Tommy - The Who
9. Days of Future Passed - Moody Blues
10. Rubber Soul - The Beatles
Now that's what I call taste
Not The Doors 😒
Needs a top 50 for this decade 😅
Highway 61 revisited over Bringing all back home is suspicious for me. But I really like this list. Some of my personal additions to this list:
- Odyssey and oracle by The Zombies.
- The debut of The crazy world of Arthur Brown.
- The Debut of Procol Harum.
- Stand up by Jethro Tull
- Days of future passed by The Moody Blues
- Green river by CCR
- The Who Sell out by The Who
I just recently checked out Arthur Brown for the first time with "fire", it's kinda quirky and out there but i like it
Rolling Stone Magazine ranked Highway 61 Revisited #3 all time. (Top 500) Both are great, classics, but Highway 61 is the more realized work.
Great list! Revolver and The Velvet Underground & Nico are my 2 personal favorites of the list. 😃
Maybe the best of all time. The most innovative at least
The Beatles
Rubber Soul is top 5 easy in my book (my favorite Beatles album)
I would feel amiss if I did not mention two from Laura Nyro, Eli and the Thirteenth Confession (released March 1968) and New York Tendaberry (released September 1969).
Glad to see Velvet Underground & Nico, Pet Sounds, Blonde on Blonde, and Disraeli Gears on the list.
The Beatles are in a class by themselves.
And so is Laura Nyro a class by herself.
Good list. I would have included Something else by The kinks, and Odessay and oracle by The Zombies
Hendrix’s Bold as Love has to be there for me too.
QMS - Happy Trails
The Doors-Strange Days!
For me the doors first album is the greatest album of all time
It's in my top 10 and I don't even like the Doors that much. Don't like any other album by them nearly as much. Forever Changes is my all time fave.
Amazing video ❤❤❤
Elvis bookended the 60s with two great albums…Elvis is Back (1960) and Elvis in Memphis (1969). He hand some pretty good albums in between, too - Something for Something for Everyone (1961), Blue Hawaii (1961), Viva Las Vegas (1964)How Great Thou Art (1966), the NBC 1968 (Comeback) Special, and Back in Memphis (1969). Take a listen…you’ll hear vintage rock and rhythm & blues, country, blues, gospel. Oh and btw Elvis was the third most charted artist on the Billboard top album charts in the 1960.

@@0532MOET Neil's great.
I would put Love's Forever Changes first, but thanks for including it.
You left out three of the most important albums in their catagory.
Critical acclaim:
Forever Changes - Love
Influence:
Days of Futures Passed - The Moody Blues
Sales :
Blood Sweat and Tears second album.
They should’ve included the kinks villages green preservation society or even the who my generation
Kinks , the Byrds and Nick Drake are missing.
Nice. Though BS&T first album I feel was so much better.
Nice seeing I Never Loved a Man on here.
Nothing by Procol Harum? I would definitely include the album 'Shine on Brightly' (1968) on this list
The Doors is the best
I have 19 of those albums on my computer and phone.
Agree fully on this list. Sgt. Pepper's still is the greatest
Right on!:)

Not a Beatles guy
A Piero Scaruffi guy
@@canwehit1kvidswithoutanysu153 I really like them, but I do not go bananas for them. There are plenty of more interesting, exciting and original bands, with all due respect to The Beatles.
No Beatles albums in the 60s is crazy
My five favorites are the White Album, Revolver, Rubber Soul, Led Zeppelin I, and Abbey Road.
I can think of several albums that equally deserve to be here, most notably “If You Can Believe Your Eyes And Ears” among those not mentioned so far. That being said, I’d have hard time removing any. Maybe a longer list is called for 🤷♂️
If you had those 30 albums in a collection, you would definitely have most of the great music of that decade.
Personally I would try to squeeze in some Kinks, Jefferson Airplane, Traffic and Pink Floyd. But limiting it to 30 means some have to miss out.
Nope, missing a lot of great bands and a lot of this was stuff I'd never even heard
The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Soviety!!!!
this list is in serious lack of John Coltrane.
Giant steps, My Favorite Things, Blue Train, A Love Supreme. Also In a Silent Way, Bill Evans, Mingus, I love rock but there was great music made before and during the rock era
Charles Mingus too
Kinks , Pink Floyd, Love and Nick Drake missing.
Where is The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn?
Missing Forever Changes by Love
Am I the only one who thinks that Pet Sounds is waaaay overrated? The album is good but certainly not the best Beach Boys album and second best of the whole sixties??? No way
Yeah, Same here, I feel its overrated.
Nah, not overrated at all. An argument could be easily made that it deserves the #1 spot. Even McCartney called it the greatest album ever released.
If only SMiLE was released in 1967. Besides that, it definitely deserves a top 5 position
No Zappa? Obviously the Beatles would win any popularity contest but, Dylan and Zappa innovated and defined the music of the 1960s (and beyond).
Where's Jazz?
You should have called it 'my top 30' instead of top 30. Then you dont get all the frustrated reactions.
Why there isn’t any The Kinks album?
Ay least 3 of their albums are better than any Beatles one, imo
Nah
No days of future passed, too much bob dylan and Beatles
I have 9 of the 30 albums - rubber soul is completely overrated, no forever changes in this list , bogus judgements
Revolver
