Ben Barnes is showing every bit of humanity that you don't see in the books for a villain. It’s kind of heartbreaking as he has an 'agenda' to save Grisha and a powerlust. 100's of years of pain has made the soft Aleksander disappear and then there are those special moments when Alina brings him back (his balance). Like when he was explaining the Ravka threats and got enveloped in emotional darkness in episode4 and Alina touched him/cancelled out the darkness and they were engulfed in a light bubble. She mirrored what he had said in an earlier episode without even realising it - 'You are not alone!' (For immortals thats a bid deal!). God he looked so relieved like he wanted to cry from so many years of pain -being close to someone finally who can be by his side. 🖤
Another example in the 'make me your villain' argument where Alina firmly stood her ground but made it clear in a very queen-like stance how they could have had a future together. She placed his hand on her chest as a reminder and you could see a glimpse of the old Aleksander reignite with her touch and the sadness and regret appear in the Darklings eyes.🖤 Alina is his equal and he has been in love with her all along. But like most fantasy dramas its PROBLEMATIC. lol!
Would be a treat if the writers create a redemption arc for the darkling, a corruption arc for Alina , a common imminent threat to join forces for more darklina! Basically we want more Ben Barnes screen time lol.🖤

Yeah, can someone who read the books confirm something? I heard that in the end she's the one that abandons everyone in the boat and leaves them to be murdered by the volcra while she runs away with mal. Netflix version had the Darkling kill everyone.
Considering how Alina had already disregarded her cartogropher friends by burning the maps and making them join the boat in episode 1-2 so SHE could be with Mal, it would have been consistent if she once again lead to other people's demise by her selfishness to be with mal
Even if they're not endgame, at least flesh out this love story until the very end. It's so much more compelling and intriguing than Malina, that's for sure. It's what makes great novels.

I hate how they told his np real name to her in such a boring way. Like in the books him telling her his real name is such a personal moment between them. Like he never told anyone it before and that was the one thing that she knew wasn’t a lie.

What a beautiful video! Just a nice melody and the voice of Ben Barnes, that's all it really takes. With Ben Barnes, Aleksander has become more human, he has nuances that the book did not give him. Thank you for your video, it is perfect.
