ERIC CLAPTON Pretending REACTION

That right there is why Eric Clapton is a legend.... Fabulous!
The percussion guy (on the tambourine) was the legend that is Ray Cooper - veteran of MANY Clapton & Mark Knopfler tours, amongst others.
One of music’s great eccentrics 👏🏼👏🏼
Ray Cooper is an absolute legend. I can't believe I saw him in Toronto twice in the last couple of years. Once, with Eric Clapton, and the other time-- of COURSE, was on Elton John's farewell tour. A couple of years ago there was a two-man tour that Elton John embarked on. Who do you suppose he took with him? A guitar player? bass player? Drummer maybe? At this stage of his career it's safe to say he could hire anyone he wanted.
Who did he take? His best mate from the very beginning of his 50-year career: Ray. F@$#ing. Cooper.
I don't know how good you have to be as a percussionist to get the #2 spot in the band of all these people. But Ray is that man. I'm privileged to have been here at the same time as a lot of these legends. But Elton John, Clapton, Paul McCartney: those are mainstream celebrities as well as top musicians. I would't consider Ray Cooper a "celebrity" in the same way. But every musician who has ever worked in rock & roll knows him. He's a celebrity among the most talented people in his field.
Nathan East with the driving bass.
I saw Eric during this tour in 1991. It was the best concert I've ever seen... He shook the entire building, then finished it off with about an hour of cream songs.
They're so bleedin' tight.
A great period in Eric's career. Great band indeed. Thanks. Mr Cooper!
Eric Clapton has played The Royal Albert Hall more than anyone else!
Nice selection, Dave -- hadn't heard this Clapton gem in decades! Thanks to you and Harri!
I agree on both counts - it's a gem and I haven't heard it in many years. Thanks Dave and Harri!
PNC and Anne - I am very pleased that you both enjoyed this, one of my favorite EC gems. Thank you!
I agree with you all also. I loved EC's look during this era. So many of my gf's were madly in love with this sexy dude. I may or may not was one of those girls. Lol❤ I 😅😂thanks Dave and Hari for the memories 😊
@@anniebubls1 Unrequited love. Had I known, I would have dedicated this to you (and your girlfriends)😎
@@davebzen795 😆 thanks😉
Ray Cooper on tambourine and percussion. Nothing like before and nothing like him since.
I totally agree. Ray was a masterclass percussionist and more. I recommend the song "Rita Mae" from The ARMS Concert as a might fine example.
A great live version...Clapton never disappoints.
Eriс is great as always! And it was live! The sound was so expressive and clear that you would think it was a studio version, incredible!
I don't care what anyone says, those Lace Sensor pickups sounded amazing!
Nathan East is an exceptional bass player and fits Clapton perfectly!!!!!
Definitely one of his best tunes❤️🎶🎸
He didn’t write it -but it was one of his better song choices in this era. Love the main solo on this version.
Nathan East and Steve Ferrone together is almost unbeaten.
Among Clapton’s best!
I bought the cd and dvd set of 24 nights in the 90's and I am still watching and listening. I literally shook the house. This was my favorite track....and yep I loved his look then. Great stuff!!
They just released these shows in a remastered form, three different sets, Rock. Blues and Orchestral... each with extended play list from the '90s release (I have those also) and each with corresponding DVDs.
Well worth the upgrade for fans.
@@albertsmith9315 I couldn't agree more!
Then we have a shared experience. My windows were vibrating to the music...a lot and often. Glad you really enjoyed this one.
Top notch band!
That may be the best I ever heard Eric play. Just flawless. And the rest of the band was fantastic.
Great one Harri. I agree with everything you said.
Oh, there’s plenty just as good!
But I agree, the solo on this version was one of the better ones.
In terms of his post-Cream work, the tours with Mark Knopfler (slightly before this one?) were perhaps his best as a solo artist - but this run was great too.
Always way better to hear Clapton live than in the studio.
Glad that you enjoyed this. You may want to check out the entire 24 Nights at The Royal Albert Hall concerts. There are many memorable Clapton performances from that.
Forgot how great this song is.Thank you.Great reaction.
The greatest guitarist and of course Phil Collin’s greatest drummer everything by them is fantastic ❤❤❤❤
I saw him in concert the year that song came out, around 1987. Can't remember the exact year. But it was March 30th, and everyone in the audience sang Happy Birthday to him. Seeing him live is on another level.
👍
My brother, I’ve seen him more times than I have fingers and toes going back to cream
He is amazing
From this era you MUST DO A REACTION about Tearing US appart Live at Knebworth! The One with the Pink Suit!
Nathan East, love his bass
A great musician - and rather lower-maintenance than Jack Bruce!
Both Nathan and Greg around this era were just excellent.
24 distinctive nights is a masterpiece
24 Nights is the 💩! Any song from this concert/double cd is fire 🔥
Absolutely peak Clapton imho
You need to listen to Clapton when he was with the band (CREAM) in the Sixties!
“Crossroads” from Wheels of Fire! 👍👍
This lineup is awesome. I love Derek and the Dominos also. They were super tight yet had a looseness about them at the same time.
Fantastic as usual
It was during this tour that I saw him in Thompson Bollin Arena in Knoxville Tennessee. Just him and his band for a good 3 hours including the bald percussionist lol. I think they call him the professor.
I kind of liked his look when he had the “obligatory Hendrix perm” 😂
Great song . Another great live performance by Eric is called She's Gone. Live in Japan 1999. Check it out, you will like it...
I remember Freshman year of High School, one my classmates told our biology teacher that this song was the theme song for his love life.
BAD LOVE.
Harri , this is Magnificent bro !
❤ WOW ❤
Hey Harri... you need to check out EC song "The Core".... great groove.
Thanks Dave
Check out Clapton knopfler 1988 sf gig. Beginning of setting this band up. Great concert. They gelled at the start. Worth a look & listen. Clapton always said it was about the band not just guitar solos.
Fantastic!!! My favorite.....Thanks for the great reaction!
This is one of my favorite Clapton songs! Thanks Dave. Wonderful reaction Harri. I love to watch you groove to the music!
You are very welcome and thank you for your kind words.
Harri, thank you for reacting to this Clapton performance. Your review/reaction was great!
You should check out the version of the song recorded by E.C. live in 2015 with John Mayer
Love your reactions, Harri! Thanks for selecting this Clapton classic.
Off the charts
My Eric Clapton concert ticket is in a frame...on my bookcase. Ray Cooper gets so caught up in the songs..love to watch him too...his face says it all.
Ahhh, my kind of Clapton fan! I will be submitting an awesome Ray Cooper featured piece very soon.
It's been an Eric Clapton day for me so this is right on time!! I love his musical skills!! If I were a less classy woman, I'd say, "Eric could get it". lolol
Another Clapton devotee! Nicely worded closing which I will leave at that.
Another great submission Beezer. Look how young he is in this. Thank you Dave and Harri.
Missy C - I am thrilled that you enjoyed this one. Thank you!
Yup thats a helluva band 0:22 and song.
Now for somethimg completely different..
Have you ever heard 2+2 by Bob Seger?
Evangelina (Acoustic)
by Collter Wall?
Love your work Harri
This is the nastiest song since the live version of NSU in 1968. Here, when Clapton plays his E shape Barre chord (minor chords?) he has to lift his middle finger off the fretboard and it looks like he flipping us off. He does it all of the time, obviously but it's very pronounced on this video for some reason.
Harri if you want some more amazing Clapton check out Gin House Blues from 1999 pure insanity
CLAPTON IS GOD !!! And Nathan East aint so bad either !
Blasphemy.
Well said 👏🏼. Ray is a genuine “character” - and evidently brilliant to work with.
The names you mentioned, (and many others) can obviously pick & choose who they take on tour - so clearly RC brings a great vibe to the band.
❤❤Harri...i LOVE this one !❤❤
My all time favorite Clapton song. Katie Kissoon does great backing vocals but doesn't shine on this. Her best vocals are actually on the version of "Wonderful Tonight" from the same 24 Nights.
Agreed
Nice one Harri, Love Clapton, love all he's done. Journeyman great album , along with August from the 80's. Thank you
Hi Harri ,I like your style , I know you like live performances so can I recommend another favourite of yours - the late ,great Dan Fogelberg singing ' The Power of Gold - from the video Greetings From The West concert ...what a rendition from a superb artist and Band . Best wishes my bestie !
Harris, I love your reaction
Check out the Derek and the Dominos in concert album.
24 nights, at the Royal Albert Hall, first few nights, 4 piece, blues, band, next few nights 7 piece band , final nights 13 piece band...who can sellout 24 nights.? Slowhand.
Slowhand. The family tree of Clapton, should be a chapter in the Bible.❤😂
I might argue that his band on "Another ticket, another rider" is better. It has some of the same players including the late great Billy Preston. Check out "Have you ever loved a woman" from that recording.
Clapton's wah-wah guitar was unreal there! And the band was so tight. Tighter than the skin on a wiener, as they say! 🎸😉💖😎
I just heard a 20 minute live version of Derek and the Dominoes playing "Let It Rain" from 1970 or so. Clapton was just smoking red hot there! Here it is for anyone who wants to hear it. ruclips.net/video/aKwWUUnra3I/видео.html
U need to do live COCAINE at royal Albert h😊all too...crazy piano at the end
Great review, Harri, and an excellent performance by EC. This was from the Journeyman tour.
In my opinion the line-up for the previous tour (EC's 25th anniversary tour) was better because Mark Knopfler was second guitarist. On this performance it was Phil Palmer (who ironically played on the Dire Straits 1991 World Tour with Knopfler as well). On the 25th Anniversary tour, I think the band was joined in Japan by Elton John on keyboards.
Hi bro,👋 could you please react to Clapton's song Edge of Darkness from the same concert. I promise you that you'll really enjoy. Thanks in advance 🙏
one of my favorites guitarrist , not my number one that is mark knopfler
Yes this was a great period and band, here is another performance, looks like just one keys player is different, otherwise same group
ruclips.net/video/tvJB7aoInFs/видео.html
Is that Phil Collins on the tamb?
No that’s Eric’s percussionist called ray cooper
@@calumg9424 the unmistakable and lovably eccentric Ray Cooper.
One in a row.
Wrong song old love same concert
I liked this song until I found his racist rant on utube.
