Prophet Yaqub AS is one of the 25 prophets and messengers whose stories are stated in the Qur'an. He is a descendant of Ishaq AS and the grandson of Ibrahim AS. The figure of Yaqub AS is known as a loving and devoted person. Prophet Yaqub AS was a child who was very obedient to the orders of his parents.
He has a twin brother named Ish. Even though they grew up together, their personalities turned out to be opposites. Ish's personality is full of envy and envy, he doesn't even hesitate to commit immoral acts. In contrast to the Prophet Yaqub AS, who was kind, patient, avoided evil, and was calm.
Even so, Yaqub AS never once responded to Ish's bad treatment. If he couldn't stand it anymore, then he reported it to his father, namely Prophet Ishaq AS.
Ish's attitude did not change, even after marriage. Instead of becoming a better person, Ish actually increasingly persecuted Prophet Yaqub AS to the point of holding a grudge against him. Ish felt that his mother loved Yaqub AS more.
Finally, Prophet Ishaq entrusted Yaqub to his wife's brother, Sheikh Labban. He resides in Iraq. This means that Prophet Yaqub will no longer be bothered by Ish.
Yaqub AS's prophetic period occurred when Jibril whispered in his ear that he was conveying a revelation from Allah. In Surah Al Baqarah verse 132, Allah SWT says:
Meaning: "Ibrahim bequeathed (the words) to his children and so did Jacob, "O my children, indeed Allah has chosen this religion for you. Do not die unless you are a Muslim."
