This is really cool to hear it up to the speed it should be at, and with a GREAT artificial piano sound too! I always thought there should be more pedal used in this piece - it doesn't really sound quite as convincing without pedal I think. Are there other pieces by Alkan you can do like this? Thanks for posting!
There are a number of videos of Alkan's music/performances on the web that go well over that time limit. Try contacting YT user Reynartthefox to see if he can advise - he seems to be very adept at stretching time limits! Great Alkan post again, thanks!
At the proper tempo it's like: Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫
i truly love this composition and the crazy composer of all times :)
Thanks for sharing this beautiful Alkan's madness. Only video of it played at 160. Just epic :)
This is absolutely ridiculous. o_O
I can only imagine the speed at which his fingers are flying up and down the keys.
Alkan was pretty meticulous with metronome markings, so it probably wasn't "just" a suggestion or implication.
he is a "pianist" to whom MIDI performances are sometimes attributed. see the alkan "the knight" etude elsewhere on y/tube.
Love it
@SiK0Fuzz1es - I can't believe it's not a MIDI file like Circus Gallop - the notes are so even. Love the end..

@Chopianist3
Ian Pace is rumoured to be able to play this piece at the this tempo and accurate too ;)
@kasyapa I wouldn't say up-tempo, it is the intented metronome marking, and Alkan was very strict with his writing!
1 person was blown away, hence tragically missed the "like" button
it still sounds a bit fast, to me, but i love alkan's genius. if that's the marking, then so be it. :)
I don't understand why people think it's not possible to play it at the marked tempo. Sure it's hard, but possible.
@Jim341046 thanks!
Celach! you're the same user who uploaded the Berezovsky Transcendental Etudes! Where do you keep getting all these inhuman performances from!? :P
beautifully done if perhaps a bit too up tempo at some points? but beautifully realized. nanasakov has a definite rival. :)
How many times have I chekecd it was eith = 160 not 18th hell I Ca't even type properly now
nono on my sheet he wrote "prestissimamente 160 quaver
I love 0:40 thingy
I could, but the
Sheet music is not working for me :(
Is this nanasakov?
Some claim that Ian Pace can play it at this tempo.
