It's like those photos of people doing oil changes on an Audi and having to pull the whole front of the car off. I love these cars, but they are over engineered in the strangest ways.
I started with GM/Chevy's in my early days...and then jumped into mid-late 60s Cadillacs thinking "eh, working on it will be just like working on my Chevelle, just bigger" Bigger as in pain in the ass? YES. Pretty much everything is twice as heavy, twice as difficult to work on. And my latest '68 seems to need everything done TWICE.
Awesome video. I've been working on my 67 CDV bushings and balljoints as well. It's a damn PITA!!! I have a question, for the lower control arms, did you have to line the balljoints up a certain direction? This will be my 3rd time dropping the springs and putting them back up. Ffs
I’m pretty sure mine were labeled with an L and an R, but I might have those confused with the uppers. I got the whole rebuild kit from Jamco and everything labeled up. Those springs broke my finger. I hate them.
Just went out and looked. Top ones are leveled left and right. Bottoms share the same part number. If they have to be lined up a certain way, I don’t remember doing it. Car has been driving around fine.
Don’t know if you’ll reply but I’m in the middle of changing all my control arm bushings and ball joints on my 68. But after all this struggle and modification needed on the lower arm would you say you put the lower bushing in from the wrong side?? Hence why it stuck out so far and was so out of alignment?
Good stuff! Really enjoyed your frustration. I guess seeing it and not doing it myself is much more entertaining! 😀
Very nice
I have the 66 DeVille. I’m convinced, the Cadillac engineers hated mechanics. Doing anything is difficult on these cars.

@deadwaitdesigns thanks and holy crap. I heard you saying you broke your finger, but didn't know it was with those springs. Damn. Thanks again.

@deadwaitdesigns I appreciate you taking a look. I have a window issue as well so I'll be checking out your other videos as well. Thank you.

No it was definitely bent. Especially when looking at it compared to the right side.
