A Threaded Watch Back -- Tiny and Tricky Threads

- Making a threaded watch back with tiny and tricky threads was not easy. I needed room for an O-ring as well, so there wasn't a whole lot of room for threads. I didn't get a working version the first time around either.

I have no experience at all i find this fascinating id love to hang out around this work for a few weeks
One of my favorite channels!
Well done sir! That had to be VERY satisfying when you first installed it with the o-ring. I was right there with you enjoying the success.
Well-done sir ❤
Good job sir.
I love seeing thatf your fluk is still in use.
Fun, eh? I'm not near my machine now, but I seem to recall the graphics are on the same side as the magnet. Have you thought about adding lettering/graphics to the other side so you could see the branding when it's, for example, on my machine?
@@JohnSL i had not considered that but I think that my be something I will do going forward
Very nice John. Like the work holding. That design works so well!
"and it looks Good" :)
yay
This is great stuff. High level of difficulty.
Great work John! At 4:44 when you show the cross section, there is a lot of wasted meat to the left of the threads, maybe a good spot for the o-ring or a gasket? 🤔 That way you wouldn't have to worry about it binding with the threads.
I thought about doing that. I chose not to because it would have required a smaller end mill, that would therefore be more likely to break. The current design does the job and is very much like a couple of other watch cases I've looked at with screw-on backs.
@@JohnSL Whatever works at the end of the day, and makes life that little bit easier I guess 👍
Nice work. I have a Haas DM-2 with the next gen control
Hi John, love your content, I noticed that when you were probing the part that your prob tip was very small. Do you have the probe part number you used?
Thanks much
Are you also selling these watches? How much do they cost?
Always thread last
