I love the "We don't make services to make money, we make money to make better services" my drive right now. Love how Mike talk about Pricing, the approach gives me clarity as i am just starting my first contract.
Amazing interview, deeply grateful for your delivering. In era of AI I believe the only "thing", we should really on it's our own IMAGINATION that goes beyond current knowledge where AI is limited. This is actually who we really are and is the most unique "thing" none can or should copy.
He started with 3 things he would pay an agent to do: book a flight, hotel, restaurant. Those are exactly 3 things I would never trust an agent to do well at all. There are so many variables to consider. It’s like that Rabbit gadget s-cam showing how it would book a hotel, and it was just puppeteer clicking around in the background but with zero reasoning for your particular context.
Absolutely! Peeps in the tech space tend to get ahead of themselves. Why would you create an agent for a non-standardizable process, with tons of variables? Each destination you'd chose has different contextual elements that are not standardizable, including your preferences. An agent could be doing part of the work, process steps that are always the same technically, but even then human oversight remains paramount.
"we don't make services to make money, we make money to make better services" 😂 Never thought I'd hear Disney and Facebook philosophy in the same sentence! Pure gold from Mike as always. Also love that you can charge more if users love your product... brb, increasing all my prices 💸
This specific episode (thank you, gents) highlights creative minds' beautiful and painful reality: abundant good ideas. Just open your mind and you will see. But seriously, man, how do you choose the ONE idea you want to pursue? Greg, dude, please ask your guests how they decide what to go after.
Excellent and very relevant to me in my business journey. With so much time and listening to all the noise and success, we can so distracted and envious.
The 'zero-friction decisions' framework and regret minimization exercise are interesting approaches. But I’m curious-when building in public, especially in a fast-moving AI space, how do you avoid exposing vulnerabilities to competitors? Is there a risk that transparency ends up giving others a roadmap to outpace you? How do you strike that balance?
on TIME STAMP 18:26, When he said they went viral in Kenya that was so awesome, hearing my country name for the first time in the pod. Because personally I come from Kenya. 😊😊😊
I genuinely enjoyed this one… yes indeed, I got lots of valuable ideas. I wish I could talk to both of you! Greg you have a heck of a podcast… seriously underrated. But that’s very much okay! You’re literally changing lives… mine at least! I’ll keep sipping to that!
The moment Greg says "Claude" and not "Clode" 😱 Now I have to go build my AI analytics business. Be on the look out. Cursor for data analysis is on the way
I have to disagree with your statement at 6:30 about agencies being a good use case for AI agent applications. People in tech tend to get ahead of themselves, which is normal. AI agents are not designed to completely replace digital agency jobs but to augment and enhance existing capabilities. While AI is transforming the digital agency landscape, it cannot fully replicate human professionals' complex, strategic, and creative work. So, while the typical agency model is not well-suited for AI agents, I suggest agencies adapt their business model to make it more suitable.
Mike Hudack discusses frameworks for AI startups, covering idea generation, product development, competition, go-to-market strategies, and pricing. He shares insights on B2B vs B2C models, successful AI companies, and balancing innovation with market demands.
For anyone looking for clarity on whether to do a B2B or B2C startup, consider this… The 2 most valuable companies in the world in our current era, Apple & Microsoft, both started by serving businesses then expanded to serve consumers directly. I think this serves as a clear model if you’re unsure which to go for
I am sorry, but neither of them has started servicing B2B clients. You are misrepresenting the founding histories of Apple and Microsoft and providing misleading guidance for entrepreneurs. Successful tech companies like these have demonstrated that flexibility and the ability to serve multiple markets are more important than a rigid progression from B2B to B2C.
@ Please do not claim misinformation without backing up with facts. That’s just sloppy. Neither Apple nor Microsoft started by selling to consumers. When founded, both companies started by selling to businesses. Apple started in late 1970s selling their earlier computers (pre-Macintosh) to computer shops, schools and data businesses. Apple didn’t break into the home computer market until mid-1980s. Microsoft started by effectively licensing their BASIC programming language interpreter to MITS (Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems) for distribution via their Altair 8800 computer. This information is not hard to find. When it comes to tech startups, B2B most definitely has the higher likelihood of success than B2C. Without question
@@veris827 Your statement oversimplifies the complex market entry strategies of both companies. Neither Apple nor Microsoft exclusively targeted B2B or B2C markets, and Apple’s focus were clearly the educational, institutional and governmental audiences, as I mentioned before. Both companies strategically positioned themselves across multiple market segments, adapting their approach as the personal computing landscape evolved. They don’t fit into a rigid B2B or B2C classification. Both companies recognized early on that success required flexibility, innovation, and the ability to serve diverse customer needs - whether in educational institutions, government agencies, businesses, or home markets. I worked for Apple when they were at war with each other. We knew Apple's history as well as Microsoft's, so I know a thing or two about this specific case. The claim that "B2B most definitely has the higher likelihood of success" also is an unsupported generalization that fails to capture the nuanced reality of tech startup strategies in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In the end it’s always the execution of a well-defined strategy that results in commercial success, no matter what market you’e in.
I can’t imagine who in Germany could possibly be thinking about creating the German version of BLAND… 👀 Someone with a love for ice cream, perhaps? Just a wild guess from someone who definitely pays way too much attention to your podcasts! 😂”
While that would have been a smart move 10 years ago, it isn't one today anymore. Language or geography is no longer a sufficient differentiator for a copycat. As an example, one sentence before suggesting that he knows somebody with this idea, he mentioned that the service is available in all languages - dah! So, technically, the only thing left to do is localize the UI. If that's the only differentiator to BLAND's value proposition, then good luck enjoying your ice cream, lol!

It feels like we’ve struck gold, but the real challenge lies in figuring out how to effectively explore and harness it.
