Jesus this takes me back. Never will forget those strange moments of curiosity I had as a kid whenever I'd run into something new and cool looking and just blindy barrel towards it in this game. Looking back, soundtracks such as this made the game way more memorable than I realized.
I worked upon skyrim as one of their QA testers. I was too old to have these sorts of reminiscent nostalgic memories because I was 20 years old at the time of working on this project with the rest of the team. But I do understand your reference and can relate. When i was a child, I played games like Chrono Trigger, and to this day, hearing anything from that sound track does the exact same thing to me.
Since i live in england it rains a lot, I had a computer that was next to the back door of my old house, and playing games with the door open at night listening to the rain with music like this was so chill. I miss that door for some reason, it was quite old in style, the glass window was split in 4 with circled indented patterns, the door was painted brown with wear, the chair was leather, torn up with visible foam, all this kind of just improved the experience, I dont understand the reason but having imperfections in your experiences can create perfection. Don't be perfect, dont try to have it all perfect, just let it be and let yourself be in doing so, calm is nice.
This soundtrack is Magical!... I can easy picture a wizard (like Gandalf) walking alone in a rainy, widley/open landscape at the edge of a deep forest and with snowy mountain peaks in the backround. The gloaming twilight with the last sunlight in the distant corner of the view and very dark clouds in the other...
The rain being higher than the music was a good choice! Not to say that a version where the music is higher than the rain would be bad. This one just feels right for me right now because the music nor the rain are so loud that they intrude on my thoughts or on my sleep. If you did another version with the music higher than the rain, it would just fit a different niche for people. Anyway, fantastic job. I love this.
The soundtrack to this game is a masterpiece. So is the game. Im replaying it for the 10 year anniversary and it feels fresh to me. Its past a game. Its an immersive experience. Team High Elf mage for me this time around.

Im starting to play the game and it feels so fucking good, like the ambience and the world itself it's genuinely awesome to play, I always play games like Fortnite or COD and playing new type of games makes me feel like im doing something different
I remember making my first characther and finishing the game after a month becouse i couldn't lvl up that fast. I think his name was Flakor and he was a argonian , i remember being a restoration build with heavy armour , man i hate that i lost that characther after my old pc died he was 8 years old .
