I got a quote for $560 for this after they did a scan for my check engine light being on. Bought the plugs myself and your video saved me a lot of money in labor, nuff respect brother 🙏
Thanks to Awesome people like yourself posting this, i bought spark plugs for 30 to 40 bucks changed them myself ...... The Engine light disapeared after i'd say 100 kms of driving. Guessing the engine sensors finally did not have any more misfiring ! Ugh getting rid of that dreaded Engine Light by yourself is so satisfying .... Next time my girl chugs it will surely be the coils .
Thanks for the well-presented video, sir! I just changed the plugs and coils on my own 2017 Elantra and man, what a difference it made!! I bought the Autolite plugs you suggested, and a set of well-reviewed coils from Amazon. $148 and an hour later, my Elantra SINGS with nary a miss or hiccup as before! And *bonus*, I’m now also seeing 2 mpg more! 😃
Hi how are you doing am so happy you leave me a comment I really appreciate it, and I glad my videos teaches you something anything you wanna know just leave me a comment and I will get back to you as soon as possible thank you and have a wonderful time.
Hey man thanks for posting the good video! I have the mechanical skills of a dead camel and you gave me the confidence to do this job and for that I thank you! My original problem was the check engine light came on and then I went to Advance Auto and I used their code reader. It was saying cylinder 3 misfire. So me and the guy determined that maybe it was the spark plug so I decided to change all three of them. I wanted to ask you was that the same problem you had? Also my check engine light is still on but the guy at Advance Auto said that maybe the check engine light will go off after a certain number of miles or a certain number of starts or I could come back and clear the code out and see if it comes back. Just looking for your opinion on that where anybody who is reading this. Thanks a lot!
@@MrtalentedReid okay so here is what happened I completed the job started the car and the check engine light still came on. However it seemed like it was fine then I went for a drive a half hour from my house turn the car off went back in the car check engine light still on. Woke up this morning go to drive to work check engine light still on. Then lunch time came and I went to go home and the check engine light is now off. Several times and several trips throughout the day car is running like a champ no check engine light is on. I 1000% think that this solve the issue! I was going to go to Advance Auto to get the code clear but I think the code just cleared itself like the guy at the shop said so big props!
Oh yeah by the way the error code was p0303. Cylinder 3 misfire. Which basically means change the spark plug. So I guess if you're reading this just by yourself for spark plugs change them all out at once it's worth the work in the effort. This guy looks like he did it in about 10 to 15 minutes. I gave myself about an hour because I'm not very good at fixing stuff but in the end it was super easy and now I'm super stoked! All the tools in the video the guy used were perfect for the job so get r done
Sir do you have a video on gaping a spark plug? My check engine light is still on, and my car is still shaking at idle! I believe this ( the gapping) maybe the issue! Thx for any help!
Not for all vehicles most times you have to reset the check engine light with a scan tool or drive for few miles thank you for your support god bless you.
Question. I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra myself I bought these exact spark plugs and a set of ignition coils too I had a on again off again check engine light reading a cylinder #3 misfire so I was told to replace the ignition coils since I was recommended to do it at 100k miles I’m currently at 86k miles so I figured I’d just get everything out the way now. So I just replaced the plugs and coils yesterday everything went smooth car started fine and drove fine but almost 30 minutes later my light came back on then off again and back on I rescanned and it said misfire cylinder #3 again and said detected #2 also. Took them off and inspected them all didn’t see any issues the gaps were proper as they should be and coils were firmly put so I put everything back and light was still reaching misfire so I erased the code and went for a drive and it did it once more then went off and hasn’t returned (yet) any advice on why this might be? Also noting My oil was a bit low no leak visible but the oil change was done approximately 3 weeks prior and was definitely weird on the oil level (about 1qt low) I topped it off and will be keeping an eye on it. A buddy of mine mentioned oil leaching into the plug bay but I didn’t see any oil on the plugs when removing.
OKAY in this case you may need to check the wires for slack connections corrosion. A bad ECM Can also cause it bad cylinder bad injectors. So check the compression on each cylinders if all of them on the same PSI Pressure
Pardon me having no knowledge about the tools, but how is the extension part called, the one that you used to extend the reach to the spark plug, and where can I get one, since my tool set doesn't have it
Thanks for stopping by I use air to blow away most of the dust on it and get some water in a bucket some rags and gry clean it after I use some wd40 spray on it then use a dry clean cloth to clean it
It best not to use because when use after few drive it form a sticky type material that get hard after a while then when ready to remove plus it seized up and broke off in engine head.( hot and cold reaction)
Hello thanks for stopping by. No you don't have to disconnect the battery from the ignition off the Circuits line to the ignition coils dead that send signals to ignite Thanks again hope you have a blessed weekend
@@MrtalentedReid thank you for the advice :) please do a video on how to test, check for faulty spark plugs on elantra too. also how to choose which type of spark plugs to purchase for elantras .
I believe you. I used the same brand as you did and mine didn’t come pre gapped for some reason. What’s even more strange is that a month after I changed the plugs, my car started shaking again and check engine light came on. I wonder if the spark plugs are defective?

I am shocked that it only comes with 4 spark plugs. Now I know where to go to get my stuff and thank you for showing me how to do it to my own car.

1 spark plug per cylinder

Mr Reid is very talented you need to watch his videos
You might want to put anti cease on your sparkplug due to them being in an aluminum block engine. That makes removing them later on easier
Ok thanks for the idea 💡 and welcome to my RUclips channel hope You have a blessed weekend

No and do you clear all codes after
@@MrtalentedReid I’ll see can I get that done today! Thx
Ok
And check all the wires that go to the ignition Coils. Clean then spray little WD40 in the connector
@@MrtalentedReid Appreciate that! Thx u
I know I can change my own plugs now
I seat here at the deal ship watching your video wondering why the hell it’s taking them four hours too change spark plugs I’m so confused
They wanted to charge you big sorry
That should take less than 10 minutes to change
Do you have to remove the wire connected to the coil or can I just remove the coil with the wire attached?
You have to remove the wire first so you don't break it
@@MrtalentedReid ok, thank you very much. Will the new plugs come gapped?
Yes they do nothing can gap them better than the factory computer so just take your time and put them in so u don't bend the tips
@@MrtalentedReid great thank you!

The gel that you put is necessary?
Not really some come pregreased
Now if a faulty spark plug cause the check engine light to come on, if I replace it, will the light go away on its own?

New plugs normally come pre gapped and will work from from you order for that specific vehicle
1.1 is the spark plugs gap for hyundai elantra se

Thanks Mr Reid. You the man 😎
What about the torque limit on ur spark plugs?
11 to 18 lb-ft
If you have a torque wrench, the service manual specification for the spark plugs is 11 to 18 lb-ft of torque.
Am doing i for a very long time so I have ideas the amount of pressure I should give them
I was quoted $250 to have this done, I couldn’t bring myself to pay that much
