As the celestials attained Rṣitva state, got the vision of the Vedas, & handed this Jnana to the worlds they are Devarshis. Among them, Narada is supreme. Among those who spread Bhagavan’s message, he is unsurpassed. As He showers Jnana (nāra), he is Narada.
Among the Gandharvas, Paramatma must be meditated as Chitraratha. As divine fragrance emanates from them, they are Gandharvas. They are known for their music.
As he sings uniquely (chitra) like a chariot (ratha) moving in slow, medium & lightning speeds, he is Chitraratha (Angāraparna). As his chariot was burnt due to weapons, Mahabharata says he is Dagdharatha.
Due to previous merit those who are born with 8 siddhis are Siddhas. They are filled with dharma, jnana & vairgya & have understood the Supreme Truth. Among them, He is Kapila Muni.
He is not the Kapila who taught Sānkhya shastra but the Kapila who burnt Sagara’s sons. So Ramayana says- dadṛśuḥ kapilam tatra vāsudēvam sanātanam (Sagara’s sons dug the earth & saw Vasudeva’s avatar Kapila).
Mahabharata says that the Kapila who taught Sankhya shastra was Agni avatar. To clarify that it was not the Kapila who taught the Sankhya shastra that is against the Vedic doctrines, Bhagavan uses the word Muni. If he is meditated as Paramatma, we get Jnana.
uchaiśśravasamaśvānāṁ viddhi māmamṛtodbhavamairāvataṁ gajendrāṇāṁ narāṇāṁca narādhipam‖27
Among horses know Me as Ucchaiśravas which was born during the nectar churning. Among the elephants know Me as Airavata. Among men, know Me as the king.
The horse with raised ears & sharp hearing or the horse famed in heaven, earth & patala is Ucchaiśrava. Puranas say that it burns like a fire with 7 faces. We must meditate on it as Paramatma.
Puranas say that 8 mighty elephants sustain the earth. Gaja means the energy of movement. The energy that holds the earth & causes it to rotate in the perfect order is Gaja. It divides into 8 and holds the earth from 8 directions.
Ira is water. Iravanta means Ocean-lord. As the elephant was born from the ocean, it is Airavata. When Bhauvana was chanting Rathāntharasama, an elephant emerged. Iravati raised it. As Iravati’s son it was Airavata. As Indra mounts it, it is Gajendra. It is white & has 4 tusks. It is the root for the elephant species.
Among humans, Bhagavan should be meditated as the king. He who brings delight to his citizens, protects them, follows dharma, makes them follow it & completes all tasks dexterously is a King.
Dasharatha said, ‘Rama! Tomorrow I will crown you as the heir’.
Rama said to Kaushalya, ‘Father is giving me the duty of governing the citizens’.
He did not say, ‘I am the king’. Only those with such supreme ideals are kings. They are Paramatma’s Vibhutis.
āyudhānāmahaṁ vajraṁ dhenūnāmasmi kāmadhukprajanaścāsmi kandarpaḥ sarpāṇāmasmi vāsukiḥ‖28
Among the weapons, I am Vajrayudha. Among the cows I am Kamadhenu. I am Manmatha. Among serpents I am Vasuki.
When Indra could not kill Vrttasura, the Devatas prayed to Maharshi Dadhici. To help them he gave up his life. Using his bones the Vajrayudha was created. Vishnu subtly entered it. Using it, Indra killed Vrtta.
Dhanurveda says the bow is the best of all weapons. Mahabharata says the sword is the best. But as Vishnu’s energy exists in Vajrayudha, undoubtedly it is the best.
Kamadhenu is the mother of all cows. It was born during ocean churning. If it is meditated as Paramatma, all desires will be fulfilled.
Bharata was agitated to know about Rama’s exile. He said to Kaikeyi, ‘Once 2 teardrops fell on Indra. He saw Surabhi (Kamadhenu) weeping. She said, ‘A farmer on earth is beating my sons, the bulls. So I am weeping’.
Indra thought, ‘When all cattle on earth are her children if she weeps for a bull, what to say of a mother’s greatness!’
If a cow had this pity for its children, being a human how can you not have any love for Rama?’
Due to this compassion in Kamadhenu, Bhagavan says, ‘I am Kamadhenu’.
Behind Lord Datta is Kamadhenu. It is not his vehicle. Kamadhenu is Datta. Devotees in Maharashtra & Nath tradition extol Datta as Kamadhenu. We must worship & protect the cows. Researchers from London and America have stated that by consuming beef, one gets diseases of the intellect.
Bhagavan is Kandarpa/Kāma/ Manmatha who is responsible for progeny. To state that ‘I am the love that arises for begetting progeny’, He says ‘Prajanah ca’. By this, he clarifies that He is not the love for sensual pleasures. That love is demonic love. Love for begetting progeny is sattvik love. Some pandits delve deeper and say ‘those who only seek children who are interested in bhakti & jnana, in them the love that emerges for this purpose is Paramatma’.
Among the serpents, He is Vasuki. It ornaments Shiva’s neck. During the ocean-churning & Matsyavatara, it aided by playing the role of a rope. Hence it is supreme.
