This was a great video - well done with nice special effects. I have been playing these games for over 50 years and this is the best solo or co-op game ever. Great era, 13 scenarios, good light RPG and character development, nice campaign setting. Plays fast and very fun. Good job showing it off!
While I did see the video where Conrad was rolled up, "flagellant" and "flatulent" sound similar enough that I thought: 'Why wouldn't that affect his followers inste-- oh, *flagellant,* right!'
Now this is a game I can get behind. What a cool idea and a very enjoyable play through. Loved the little SFX and VFX you guys added! Hope to see more in the future!
Co-op games can be a lot of fun and nice change from straight up head to head. I hope you two enjoyed the game as it looked fun. Initially, wasn't sure about the witches "AI" as it felt like it needed a bit more depth. However, as the game went on it seemed to settle in and the RNG just hit the right tone by the end.
AI rules are good but I like a "default" action that an npc uses if they can't reach an enemy with the rolled action. 31:29 is a good example. The rules should have a default like "use next action lower" or "move closer".. etc. or just try an summon another imp... imho.
Thanks for another great video. Very excited about this game. I'm expecting a run on witch minis after this video, so I'm going to order mine right now! 🙂
@@oldhammered Thanks. Yes, they're really nice. Also, turns out there's a company called Midlam Miniatures just a few minutes from me that does a whole range of witches. Saves me paying for postage 🙂 Love those counters BTW.
Just checked out Midlam. Wow, looks like they have lots of figs that would work for Devilry Afoot. I especially like their townsfolk, undead and cultists.
@@oldhammered Yep, they'd all be great. I hadn't spotted those cultists - good call! I can see a 'rescue the sacrificial victim' scenario working very well with those.
I’ve so anticipated this video! It does not disappoint! Based off your previous videos I’ve dove in, buying the book and stocking up of witch, ghoul and wolf figs. Excellent video to help learn the game and as always love when the two of you are at the game table. The gaming narrative is a true joy. Your game, as always, would make a great short film! Seeing Sven stay behind due to fear was fun and the phrase “buff out your buckler” would make a great t-shirt :) Looking forward with much antici pation for the next chapter in this story and to see how the characters use the experience and coin they’ve obtained. Great fun as always!
Thanks Ron! Glad you enjoyed the batrep. The rules do indeed lend themselves to a narrative, RPG-lite experience. We should probably avoid becoming too attached to the characters though, as no doubt some will be mangled or murdered during the campaign.
@@oldhammered Wanted to add you often introduce us to new games and new companies. I'm lovin' the game, but equally I love Bloody Miniatures. I just got two batches of 4 fig and they are incredible! Thanks for showing us these, out of the limelight games and companies.
Was looking forward to this one! Great battle report, but the witch AI kind of lost the plot. I think I'd like to add a few if/then qualifiers if I played this . Maybe if the witches out number the hunters, then reroll all flee and hide results. Otherwise looks like a great game! Can't wait to see more.
Crooked Henry fleeing from Thadeus gave me an idea for a cool mod to the rules when figures are retreating in a panic, rather than by player-choice: if the model hit/meets any risky or solid terrain (tree, wall, stream, rocks, fire-place etc), they should roll for injury due to clumsiness. Fail-roll could be fall (prone), light injury or both.
I don't think Cersei should have been in wolf form at the end, since her last action was to charm. According to the RAW, Brother Thaddeus can't employ a sword, buckler and holy item simultaneously, since they each take 1 hand.
Disregard the comment about the sword, buckler and holy item. I just watched the next video, and you mentioned it. Frankly, I was wondering if you had received some errata about the holy item...
I decided to do it myself and created a reload chart on BGG. Basically there’s a chance reloads are a free action, cost an action, or waste an action (but next reload roll is +2)
I think the game is meant to be played on a 2x2, but there’s nothing stopping you from tightening that up. I suppose you could play a 1x1 variation, though it would probably be bloody and short.
You could use 15mm figs. I do that, and it makes a 24" board into a 13" board. That's generally too tight, so I use an 18" board. I simplify measurement conversion by changing all inches to centimeters. It's a rough approximation, but it works for me
@@oldhammered But not great for filming. I like to see the painted 28s. I guess there will ALWAYS somebody not happy, or want to change something, ha ha!

An interesting ruleset and a fun game to watch. Thanks for sharing!
Just got my book in the mail yesterday, so great timing! I've joined to throw you a cafe coffee each month now.
Thanks so much! Welcome to the party.
Seems like a lot of fun, definitely a good game for spooky season!
Crown Royal bag, the sign of the old school gamer!
Excellent play through. Interesting small skirmish game. Thanks for posting the videos.

Yes it seemed like the witches are supposed to lurk and hide to try to run out the clock. Probably good for a first encounter to reduce player deaths.

Brother Thaddeus really was the MVP during this game.
More like Brother Chaddeus
Very intrigued by this. Considering getting the book. Looking forward to the rest of the campaign!

Lots of great sources for those, but I noticed some cool witches over at Wargames Foundry the other day. Just FYI.

Excellent video! Some absolutely charming witches lol
Great video … loved the effects… found the monster AI incredibly lacking….witches seem to want to do nothing …
Every monster chart is different. I think the witches are more designed to hinder, hide and run out the clock than face the hunters in combat.
The witches objective for the scenario is to flee.
Thanks for the great run through!
When I loaded up the video at first I thought you were smoking of vaping at the beginning!!!! lolol.
You caught me. I was ripping a Juul.
@@oldhammered it looks like a special effect!!! 😂😂😂
It was. I’m not cool enough to vape.
Witch hunters ridin their luck in this episode!
A little dry ice fog would make this look really sick.
The Holy bag of Crown is a must!
Amazing game!
This looks fun, but i think its succes Depends on how many Szenarios will be Provided in the future for it.
Cool game.
Ahh the ole bag-of-fate... it's original potion content led me to many fateful hangovers in my youth.
I was a more of a Johnny Walker man myself, but those days are long behind me. I think I've had that CR bag since the '80s.
Fun game

No worries. As we say frequently, don’t expect error-free gameplay from us. We just try to get a grasp of the rules and then do the best we can.
The Imp noise is nicely creepy and silly.
Games need fewer deterministic actions. Reloading a flintlock and running through darkness should be rolled for with varying degrees of success.
I decided to do it myself and created a reload chart on BGG. Basically there’s a chance reloads are a free action, cost an action, or waste an action (but next reload roll is +2)
Cool 😎
i wish to be like you when i grow up
I see you have the classic dice bag as well.
Affirmative. A vintage relic from my AD&D days.
Great report! What minis are the witches used?
Gosh, we got those minis from a friend some time ago. I honestly don’t know who made them.
“We found a witch- may we burn her?” Great video- looks like a fun game! What is the smallest game board you can play this game on?
I think the game is meant to be played on a 2x2, but there’s nothing stopping you from tightening that up. I suppose you could play a 1x1 variation, though it would probably be bloody and short.

Agreed. The larger figs look much better on video. Though I still want to make up a couple of 10mm armies for mass battle vids!
40 minute batrep? Sign me tf up boys
Wish there was some more variety to the ai
Every monster has a different chart.

Rules for witches look boring - they can runaway and lose, charm (which is essencially do nothing) and aimless roaming - so game feels empty.
I’ll just say that every monster is different. In this scenario, the witches win by escaping the board or running out the clock.
s.
What are the rules
Nothing new or original brought to the table. Meh.
