We (ok, the other half) have used the black metal pipe for all sorts of diy projects and I had no clue until now that that this was actually gas line pipe.
Two things I take seriously....propane and electricity! When we installed our gas stove and oven and our fireplace we hired a professional! I suppose I could have technically done it but, I won't take the chance with my family. I wanted to make sure it was done correctly! When it came to re-wireing our home I did technically do all the work myself but I hired a master electrician to come out and inspect it to make sure I did it correctly. Yes it cost more to do it this way but it's worth every penny knowing my family is safe. This was an excellent video! I'm glad your brother made sure you guys are safe.

Four inch iron pipe cut with a hacksaw and threaded with hand operated stocks an dies. Jumping on a three foot bar to turn it. For the joints, Indian hemp and Boss White jointing compound. Thank goodness modern technology has taken the hard labour out of most things. You'll be cosy for Christmas. Enjoy your creature comforts. Thanks for the video. A nice surprise.

We used to have one and I loved it. Until our home filled with gas fumes due to a leak. When we saw how your brother did it we now know why. And the gas company did it! We said we'd never have another but after seeing how your brother did it we'd definitely do it again but ONLY if done the way he did. He's great. Needs his own channel. Hopefully your feet will get better soon with the proper Dr, Sam. Prayers go up for all y'all.

This was really informative and well done instruction. You certainly know your business. In Missouri at our house, we had a nice gas log set professionally installed in the late 1990’s. It worked fine for many years. And in 2010 got an upgraded gas log set, professional installation. And we started having trouble with it running a short time, then shutting off. The log installer was a bit stubborn to say our copper gas line wasn’t adequate to supply enough pressure? Even though it’d worked fine for many years. We continued to have a intermittent problem. So finely contacted the local gas company, they tested the outside gas meter, and thought we needed a larger (corrugated steel gas line) a run of about 35 feet. The gas company installed the new line for us. And ultimately this is what worked. We haven’t had any trouble. And we so much enjoy our gas logs. And even have used a couple times when there was ice storms and power outages. 🙋♂️🙋♀️🐈🐈

Good Morning Guys great job. Just a reminder for everyone, this type fire place can't be used without supervision it must be shut down before going to bed. This unvented fireplace uses the oxygen from the room air and depletes it from the air in the house could cause a problem down the road. One suggestion for Adam I would like to see a elbow type connection at the back of the unit, it would put less strain on the flexible gas connector. And look better and make the plumbing inspector happy .
