I've heard that sometimes it can be a good idea to take a piano composition and then replace stuff for other instruments if you'd like to make an orchestral ish piece !!!
i haven't really done that before, and so I thought id save doing something like that for the time I come up with a particularly okay piano comp haha
if you enjoy this and would like to see that, please let me know, and I might do exactly that !!!!

Sometimes simplicity is a good thing to relapse to in pursuit of improvement. At least that's what I think.
It can work. challenging yourself and trying new things is important as well.
I feel you're right !!
at the same time I also believe I fall back on it to do what's comfortable to me too often, and it might actually keep me complacent and away from the pursuit of improvement sometimes :0
@@AZALI00013there's no reason why you can't have two versions of it: one simple version and one with an orchestra to make it fuller. Or you could combine them both into one: start simple, make it fuller by introducing the orchestra and returning to simple again.
Anyway I don't need to tell you how to make music, anything you make would sound awesome :)
I mean this is good on it own, but I can hear a phantom string section playing their hearts out to this
Well spoken
it sounds like something you'd hear in a Ghibli animation! but, i could totally see a string instrument going well with this, a soft guitar or maybe a violin/viola/cello!
Totally agree👍
I agree. There should definitely be a cello.
I was going to say the exact same thing! It reminded me a lot of Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle especially
My very first thought when listening
a clock slowly ticking would be the vibe for me
actually did this with one of azali's tracks! tried to upload it, but I messed up and it clicks on loop...
Chrono Trigger vibes and I am here for it
Add a glockenspiel to the melody trust
I CAN SEE THAT WORKING
glockenspiel + harp maybe ..
@@AZALI00013I love glockenspiels, but I doubt it would work well with this melody
@shardinalwind7696 well see !! I might try including them or a music box for an orchestral sidequest version >:)
update: it worked well
@@AZALI00013 glockenspiel and harp would actually be a pretty nice touch, u could definitely try it as a seperate version of the same song
Well I almost cried, maybe adding a violin would push me over the edge
I like how calming this one is
if u put 2x it still sounds good
I can totally picture a solo violin or a cello playing a counter melody, but it’s lovely the way it is now. Makes me feel like walking by the sea at the end of a long day.
it sounds like the 5 stages of grief
denial: 0:00 - 0:45
anger: 0:45 - 1:12
bargaining: 1:12 - 1:30
depression: 1:30 - 1:54
acceptance: 2:01 - 2:24
denial sounds like it is trying very hard to pretend like nothing's wring. hence, denial
anger sounds like it is frustrated, but is in an environment where they must wear a thin mask of happiness.
the bargaining area sounds like the music youd hear while shopping. a much more literal section.
depression: it sounds sad and angry. it sounds like our metaphorical character is crying and screaming in a place no one else can hear them.
acceptance sounds the same as denial, just more peaceful. everything is, maybe not alright, but they've come to terms with what happened and can now progress in life in peace.

thank you for listening :)
not really an instrument, but i imagine some soft rain or soft talking(like a muttering crown) over this. In instruments, i could definitely here some strings or soft horns! I love how tranquil this feels.
add nails on a chalkboard, and large string instruments falling over, and Styrofoam tussling around, and someone slamming there forearms on a faulty table, and a loud whip in the back of a large room so that the reverb of the sound is what mostly gets picked up, and a subway train arriving at a station where only one man sits as he lets off a really big exaggerated sneeze, aliens speaking a language with a lot of barziz and bizarple , 3 orchestral members whose arms are long and deflated because they are completely demotivated as they play with trumpets filled with water in the rain, one really low rumbling bass-synth that's super random but very effective, coat hangers rumbling in a earthquake, 2 cats in an agreement, and some harmonicas if you really wanna get artsy with it i guess... 🤷♀
creativity
Vibraphone and Harp would sound like a nice addition to me on this one imho 🗣️🗣️🔥
(maybe combined with a discreet glockenspiel track too or other orchestral percussions btw)
It's always a tough question to answer... there's beauty in simplicity, but there's also beauty in the coming together of many things into something greater than themselves.
Why not have it both ways, solo piano version and then a version for a larger ensemble? I did this with a solo guitar piece once and I love both versions.
I think maybe you should add a string instrument as either a duet or as a complementary sound just think of it as this.
it’s a quiet night and the rain falls down from the sky like the notes on a piano and the sound of strings flys ever so gently in the background, subtle but not to quiet as it flows with the sound of the rain.
I love your music keep up the great work it’s beautiful.
One of the prettiest piano songs I’ve ever heard, and I think part of that is the simplicity of it. It feels sort of like it’s in its own lonely little world, and I personally like that.
you make such awesome music. it's serene, and beautiful. it's a slow and elegant dance of emotion, filled with every bit of the harmony that one could need, it leaves you wanting more, and not knowing how you lived without it before. perfection is hard to achieve, but this tune comes very close - enough so to give me goose bumps. 10/10.
holy crap azali you are so fricking talented, there is no need to add any instruments to this. its perfect how it is
I love how the notes gets more chaotic as it plays
As always, AZALI, you've made something beautiful. Truly, you are someone to look up to. Appreciate the content man!
And to answer your question: No because you can't make perfect more perfect.
Reminds me of Kirby’s Epic Yarn. I really love this one. I think this is fine as just a piano piece.
I first read this as Kirby's Epic Yam and was like huh... they really ran out of ideas
I like how he, in his own way, communicates with the audience through subtitles while you listen to this music!
( ^∀^)
I think some white noise and very light jazz drums and a couple string instruments in the climax of the song would make this sound really ambient and nice. This is a really nice piece, good job
the piano itself is as beautiful as looking into the night sky while sitting right by a lake and the light of the stars and moon reflect off of the lake
This most definitely sounds like music
Yes, one, a cello
that would work !!
I can see a strings section working nicely as well actually :0 :0
@@AZALI00013 exactly
This was a really pretty piece! I thoroughly enjoyed that, and regarding the whole orchestral thing you're mentioning in the video, I honestly think that this piece would be a good starting point. The piano solo is fairly complete and can definitely stay like this, so I think at the stage that this is at, I personally feel like it'll work with simple backup from other instruments like violins/cellos/celeste/glockenspiel, and then keep it so that the piano remains as the star of the piece. The strings can help emphasize on the chords by sustaining a note, and then the celeste and glockenspiel can probably help to give little accents especially in the more staccato parts like 1:13, just a few sporadic hits panned left or right to give the song more of a sense of space, if that makes sense? Hopefully this helps give some ideas!
0:45-0:52 this part for some reason it reminded me a lot track "As the world caves in". Thank's for this composition!!
hey azali. push yourself. mesh this heartfelt piano-centered elegance with the sporadic detuned intensity of sentinel encounter. something really obtuse that hasn’t quite been heard. i know you can do it. you have a core audience that isn’t gonna melt away from you challenging them. great work as always
haha i plan to !!!
next im going to try making something with a strange combo of elements >:)
Work on own music ........ Let him cook is own sound
no its perfect and i might just cry
I could hear this everyday, and will never being bored.
It sounds perfectly fine, there's just the piano yet sounds good and complete in a way.
I think if you're not comfortable just diving into full orchestration then building off of a simpler preexisting composition would be a good way to practice.
For this specific piece it his a pretty wide range, and I think you could add all sorts of stuff to flesh out the sound with different instruments! I like clarinet since it's one of the instruments I paly in real life, so I'd probably try to wedge that in somewhere.
More generally, I think it might also be helpful to try and "orchestrate" from a piece that doesn't already have that fuller sound, maybe just a main melody and some more basic accompaniment. Learn to add other instruments instead of more keys from the piano, you know?
But either way, I think as long as you're making an effort to try new stuff pretty much any method will work.
There isn't really a "good" or "bad" kinda classification for songs that would translate well into orchestra arrangements, it's moreso a way for the composer to select the fitting instruments for the piece. I think this one would do very well just as a string orchestra arrangement. For the actual arrangement, you should look into what instruments are best suited for which tone ranges and adjust the voices accordingly. (Also as an instrumentalist, it would be nice if more arrangeurs would look into what is actually playable on the instrument they are writing for...)
Zach Heyde has very good videos on how to arrange and write for orchestra.
I think there for sure are good or bad classifications for songs that could make good practice if translated !!
the fact that one song can be better practice than other already shows that not all songs are created equal there, which also shows they could be sorted on a scale of bad to good
I understand what you mean here though !
I'll be sure to check out Zach Heyde as well :0
I think I've seen some of his ones on botw in the past...
BROOO your music is so good. Like the way you modulate is so effortless in your work, its so insane. I personally struggle from minimalism syndrom so i really look up to you as a composer. I really like that you show a keyboard on the left so that i can now learn how to play this masterpiece. Keep on making stuuf you like because you are creating masterpieces
jazz drums with brushes and a lot of cymbal work at the the start maybe.... and also a couple celli/upright basses playing 4/5th intervals for the bassline :0

Sometimes, we found peace on the things we do everyday. Not a full happiness, but that level of peace that makes you remember that, despite living every single day the same way, you're still yourself.
Never forget: "Once must imagine Sisyphus happy"
i think a violin playing an accompaniment would add a lovely sound to this piece- it's already so beautiful and somber as it is but i think the sharpness of strings could be a nice contrast to the softness of the keys
FRICKEN BEAUTIFUL ❤❤❤ I DONT KNOW HOW TO EXPRESS IT ITS SO AMAZING
This is an absolutely beautiful piano composition. I don't know if it makes much sense to add many more instruments to it... Trying is still a good exercise of course! Before you do, figure out what it is you're trying to accomplish with each, more than just putting more in because you feel like you're supposed to. Then you can pick out a good instrument that can accomplish what you need!
Also if you find great orchestral percussion, I wanna know too!
violins always make a good job
Im a violinist and this absolutely blowed my mind! It reminded me of Studio Ghibi (sorry idk how to spell) stuff and was so full with emotion and movement. Fnatastic!!
this is absolutely beautiful !! nostalgic and yet hopeful
one thing that got me wanting to learn piano again, that I never realized until I thought about it, is that I imagine it's really easy when making music with a piano to just bring a chord into existence and mess around with notes and see how they sound
Playing in concert with a pianist, I know there are strengths to the sound of a string instrument or woodwinds or brass, but some pieces have affirmed to me that note-wise one piano can play a complex, harmonized piece just as well as an entire orchestra
Even those jank MIDI piano songs that are physically impossible I feel show just how far the potential goes
To answer your question no it doesn't need more instruments
My heart is melting. Thank you.
This is just so good I don't even think you have to add more instruments tbh, probably even one of my favorite from all your song! Keep cooking!!
It's like the music presents a character with amnesia, finally finds his origin and memories and is now at peace after his adventure.
This is how you know you can make great chords!
For adding more elements into a song, it seems like certain parts have roles in a soundtrack, like the instrumental version of a song that has words is missing something without the vocals, if you can figure out which parts to take out or put in or shift around as to fit the 'vocals' or vocal type of music that would go in instead, like with some video game music, you could probably to a ton.
Cello and violins are always the best choices with piano❤
This feels like saying goodbye forever.
Subdued large strings, like a Chello or double bass supporting the low notes would definitely strengthen the larger parts of this piece, but honestly this stands very strongly on its own.
This is really pretty!!!! I have very little musical knowledge, but I think this piece already sounds pretty complete, and adding more instruments could make it feel a little overwhelming. I could be completely wrong though.
so pretty!! it's already perfect but i think a violin with be a nice addition
You know what makes everything better? Bassoons.
oh this is MAGICAL...it reminds me of studio ghibli soundtracks (specifically from Howl's Moving Castle) and some tracks from kirby's epic yarn
this is already gorgeous as a standalone, but I bet it'd sound amazing with some strings and maybe a sprinkling of glockenspiel, as some other comments suggested :D
this is beyond beautiful. Thank you
Would love to hear this with other instruments, yet leaving some quieter key moments for the piano to take me places I’ve only seen in dreams
This lowkey is by far my favourite azali song yet 🕺❤
Yes, but only like two, max. I think it was probably an audio error on my part, but in the second half of the song there were some sounds which sounded a lot like a piece of paper being brushed along a surface, and I think that added a lot to where it happened. So some non-traditional percussion would probably be the way to go in my book. Regardless of what you pick, so long as the piano remains the focus it'll probably still sound great.
The bpm changes are so nice
casually finding full waltzes on youtube I love it 💯
It sounds like the music is speaking to me telling me some sad story.
Awesome work 👍
i know the updated version already was uploaded so i just want to say that this idea of uploading a simple song and asking people if you should add more and what you should add, is cool. Listening to this i can say its pretty relaxing at the beggining but at 0:46 it really sounds like more instruments could make it better. Now im gonna hear the updated one, im sure it will be nice!
meowsynth is the only other instrument needed; even then debatable as its so good already
underrated channel. should have 2 million subscribers by now
azali its clear that people see this becoming an orchestral piece, but i think adding one instrument at a time, like one guitar, could be vERY beautiful
I think it’s amazing how it is. Sometimes more instruments is good, sometimes less is more.
no need for more instruments; this is beautiful!! it sounds like it belongs in a romantic 90's anime :D
Man, you have mastered whatever Takeshi Abo was doing when writing the Steins;Gate soundtrack. I've said this before but your piano compositions give me vibes of Gate of Steiner in some parts. Just flipping magnificent dude
ohh some violins and other stringed instruments would go amazing with this, probably some brass too, it definitely gives studio ghibli vibes
This was great, could definitely see this as an orchestral piece.
