I remember standing in line for this the week it opened. Waited over 2 hours to ride it. Let's just say it didn't live up to expectations.

The Bat was condemned in 1983 and the roller coaster The Vortex took its spot not Top Gun. Top Gun didn't appear at Kings Island until 1993 10 years later.
I rode this 9 times the year it released. Literally nothing like it at the time it was called Top Gun.
Of the few that remain, this is ranked as the best one.

Love how some think this is the original Bat when that was located where Vortex is.
Vortex is a classic but it's too rough nowa days.

@@m420himself8 yeah I actually learned a few days after posting this comment the ride was dismantled in 2019. Theres not alot of Arrow coasters left at this point.
This will always be top gun to me lol. The only problem with this ride is the fact that it’s too short. Last time I was at kings island there was no line and you could just get on and off and right back on lol.

Love this coaster. May not be a #1 coaster, but its nice for anyone to enjoy. I'd say a perfect first time coaster for someone. The only thing that gets me is some reason after the first drop, my left rib cage always hurts a bit. Not sure if its due to the way I hold on, idk, but it goes away. Otherwise, I have a blast on this one. 😊
This ride is truly intense. Especially in the second half (like right when you pass the banshee). I still remember the nearly vertical angles we reached when we swung in the brakes
I got on today and the ride op told us we’ll be “Tom Cruise-ing outta here” as a callback to top gun. That was pretty rad

Is this better than Iron Dragon? If so, what do you rate it out of ten?
+Rocky Tuck definitely better than Iron Dragon. I liked Dragons layout over the water but it has no speed or intense swinging like The Bat does. Rode this at night during Halloween Haunt just me & my girl, nobody else on the train- we were clownin that night! :)
***** very underrated, couldn't have said it better man. Me too, I notice the low lines because most lazy people won't venture all the way over to that corner of the park past the Banshee now. They need to build another big coaster out that way that could fit in between Flight Deck and Banshee

I road the Bat and the one part that got me was when it hits the end and you start to hit your head. Hit hurt soo freaking much

Ya gotta know what you're getting into, (don't expect a great ride or anything) and I'd not wait very long at all for it. BUT its a fun ride and of Ninja and Iron Dragon, this was the best of them.

4/10. Glad I rode it once for the experience but the bruises on my head tell me its not that great. If you're not super short like me maybe its fun but I really disliked it.

Wrong description. This is top gun. Bat was removed about 20 years earlier. It was replaced by the vortex

When I rode this, I told my family that this was called top gun and flight deck, but a lady that looked like she was in her late 60s said I was wrong and that top gun and flight deck were 2 separate rides and it was the bat all along. I didn’t believe her, though.
There's a Vekoma SLC called Flight Deck at Canada's Wonderland. They also have an Arrow suspended coaster that's essentially a clone of The Bat but it's called Vortex... Yet, none of this is even half as confusing as Six Flags' character-based theming.

When you go down those the side twist things in the beginning, are those like hills that make your stomach drop? I hate roller coasters but I have rode the beast. I'm going next week and I want to ride other roller coasters, that don't have that many stomach drops moments
It's not too bad. It might give you that feeling around the first turn after the drop, but after that you should be good :)

It’s a cool ride, but holy crap it’s short. If the lift hill wasn’t the slowest in history i swear it would be less than a minute.

Im suprised they actually used that name for it because there was another coaster called "The Bat" there years ago in the late 80's (?) and someone (a young girl I think) fell off and got killed. I never got to ride the original, but I remember I and my sister walking by it seeing signs posted on it that it was closed, and I was really young at the time, and I didnt know until a coupke years later it was removed becauseof the girls death.
Brian O'Connor It just had bad mechanical life. The coaster was going to fast through the unbanked track which led to it's closing. Was a maintenance nightmare.
Nobody has ever died on a roller coaster at Kings Island. What happened to the bat was that it was hard to maintain, shocks were going bad at an alarming rate, and the steel was being stressed too much. Since it was a prototype, Arrow didn't know that you have to really bank the track to make it work, and you can't go nuts with the swinging like that coaster did.

Nobody fell off the original Bat. It was closed because it was an unsuccessful prototype with many mechanical issues. They took note of the issues and opened the very successful Big Bad Wolf at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The Bat's situation had nothing to do with death.
This ride is not "The Bat." This is Top Gun / Flight Deck with a different paint job. I rode the original "The Bat" several times as a kid and was on one of the last rides it ever ran in Late July of 1983. I can tell you that that ride kicked this rides' ass!!! There are absolutely no similarities whatsoever between the old ride and this new incarnation and I personally think it's a slap in the face to the original "The Bat" for even remotely thinking about calling it that. Aside from that, this coaster sucks. Don't waste your time waiting in line for it.
Lol a lot of people love this ride. Not everyone is into the big, scary coasters. I love this ride. Its not my top favorite but I really enjoyed it and so does a lot of people.

Seems like this ride makes a lot of people throw up. 2 years ago when I rode this, after we were done, we had to wait about 10-15 minutes cause someone puked in the train ahead of us. Unless you mean someone crapped themselves lol. Either way, this ride tends to make people puke or poop 😂

For a suspended swinging, it's a pretty intense coaster.
Ravaxr It does look pretty fast and fun. Those banked turrs look a bit intense.

Terrible ride. It hurt SO bad. They desperately need new restraints. I hit my head throughout the entire ride. This and the beast were just too painful.
