    The absolute joy of this book is building the puzzle of a real couple..the meet/greet, moves the friendship, worried this may be pure lust or are we entering unrecognizable as a life long Love. Each unfamiliar with the concept of that particular emotion. Could it be real…throw in some amazing adventures, rtn to LON & the wondrous “FernelyFamily, Gigi & her (7) fabulous “Kind Boys, w/ totally different goals & personalities, the Gorgeous Rosalind, hindered by 1st Circle, her Governess, parents. “A” & “R” so worth emulating 200 yrs later.🎉

    I have found another favorite regency romance author! (Now the count is 2 favorite authors!) When I first started listening - the ads were so horrifically annoying - and I usually stop listening when being bombarded with ads like that... except the story was just so dang interesting and so well written! In fact, I started this book late in the afternoon and couldn't stop listening till the wee hours of the morning! I only stopped because I kept drifting off and I just didn't want to miss a single second!
    Every aspect of the two main characters' actions - why they did stuff - was so well explained - and not in a boring way - but interestingly and entwined in the fabric of the story. I hate when there is a scene in a book and a character does something - and there is no apparent reason, at all, for them to do it!
    SPOILER - I wish there would have been more kissy-kissy stuff - not sex - but you know.. they were always getting interrupted just before a kiss! lol but the way the romance part of the book was written felt so very true to the era of the book - so I shouldn't complain...
    So so so glad I found this channel! Dang! I'm still smiling! Such a fun great book!

      I am the opposite, I do not like kissing scenes or more. I don't need that close up of a picture of what happened. I am an adult, I can fill in the blanks. I tend to steer clear of over written "love scenes", I never read books with trash in them though. So I like the level of descriptive affection.

      @micheledix2616 is right. In one of the early chapters Archie says that Rosalind's hair is the color of peace lilies. So that was the type of lily he would have been drawn to.

    I love the storyline of this book, indeed all of your books, but I really find the terrible pronunciation of our English word most irritating. Berkeley is pronounced Barkley , to name but one. I understand the difficulty of getting narrators but this lady is clearly American trying to be what she is not.

    I really look forward to hearing the next tale, I will be wondering which brother will be next! Have you ever seen the musical movie Seven Brides For Seven Brothers? Its what i thought of when you said seven brothers! Btw, the Little Miss story he recited was really the story of the little match girl, wasn't that by Dickens? It would have been interesting if you'd said something about it after the story.

    • @angelaejohnsonsweetromance
      @angelaejohnsonsweetromance  10 месяцев назад +2

      I did find inspiration with "The Little Match Girl", by Hans Christian Andersen, along with a few other texts I'd read about the lower class in Britain during the 19th century, and the types of work they would do. I considered My Fair Lady and her position as a flower vendor while creating Little Miss. I also used inspiration from one of my family stories that comes from the Great Depression where two of my great great aunts starved to death while family members who could have helped sat back and left them to die. All of those things combined are what inspired Little Miss. I just went out and reread "The Little Match Girl" because I wouldn't want anyone to think I had taken straight from the story, and of course using it as inspiration lends a similarity. I hope it is different enough that it can be considered Archie's. Also, the process Archie went through to create the little story and Little Miss's background was genuinely what I did to create the character.
      I have seen Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I absolutely love that musical and I would love to claim it as inspiration, but the 7 brothers really just happened because it felt right for the Fernley family. (and now I'm picturing my Fernley men with axes singing about how lonely they are! Haha!)
      Thank you for listening.

      @@angelaejohnsonsweetromance Hahah, the Fernley men with axes! Now I'll be chuckling as I listen to the (anticipated) next volumes!
      I think you did a great job of tying the Little Match Girl story, or inspiration into your tale. You've made your characters very real by sharing their thoughts and emotions. I think anyone would be lucky to find a man such as Archie! Thanks for reminding me of the author of that tale, I love Hans Christian Anderson too. Have you ever seen the musical movie with Danny Kay? I have that one too!
      My favorite movie of all time is My Fair Lady, I go nuts over the songs. But it might be a toss up between that and Mary Poppins! Ha! What you shared about your distant aunts is very sad and I could see how it would inspire you, through the sadness of it and connection as family.
      Thanks for sharing more of your inspirations, I find it most interesting when authors do that. I'm an artist (painting, illustration) and get inspired by stories and old illustrations. I'm working on many of my own children's stories, wish me luck!
      ps. I'm now listening to your Myths of Moraigh series! Cheers!

      She was based off a person I know, a person who loves to cause contention, wants what she can't have, and then feigns innocence when confronted about her actions. So, what did she want, to cause trouble and make Archie and Rosalind miserable.

    1 question pops in my mind though....wd she have behaved the same way with the duke? Wd she hv subjected the duke to the same scrutiny and held out for the pronouncement of love🤔

    • @angelaejohnsonsweetromance
      @angelaejohnsonsweetromance  Год назад +10

      I love this question! No, she wouldn't have requested it of the duke. But that is only because Duke Wharton would have taken what he wanted and wouldn't have allowed her the option of waiting. Rosalind would have realized rather quickly, as she did in the book, that Wharton wasn't what she wanted. Wharton wouldn't have shown the gentleness that Archie had. Archie isn't the kind of man to take what isn't given, and so he was willing to wait.
