The redshirt is a gift to the player so they can grow and develop, if players are gonna split then you have to only redshirt super loyal players and how do you determine that, get a Gifford litmus test,
Perhaps "college" teams should separate from the academic community, since players have essentially become paid employees, whose name recognition value has decreased, due to the transfer portal.
Redshirts are now only for the players. The coaches can't really use them for development and strategic placement. With the T portal and nil it was already on the decline but with the effect of the insane roster limits it's kinda pointless for coaches to use them.
It'll ultimately hurt the guys that dream to be part of a specific team, that need an extra year to develop to be part of that team. They will now be forced to go to other teams and usually lower levels and hope they get adequate development and playtime for that team to get them to transfer in. A lot of those players will end up on teams totally off the radar of their desired team.
College football is a business you’re paying out NIL for somebody he’s sitting on the bench and you’re investing time and energy in him. You’re not getting anything out of him then his red shirt year is over and he goes to a different team red shirt makes no sense at all if the players viable
They played more guys early year 1, but year 2 he stuck with the super seniors and the younger guys up and transfered because of it. How do guys that are trending to be all- americans year 1, but get minimal reps or red shirted the year after?????
Matt Rhule is behind on the portal Coach Prime told you guys about this change 2 years ago. He said he only wants freshman who can play right away cause if not they will transfer. But Rhule is a dummy and may have changed too late.

I think you also need to look at the roster limit. It's harder to have red-shirts if they count against your 105 players
19:00 Good call Damon

Damon upset Ravi critiquing how he approaches asking a question.
Nebraska will never win playing freshman.

And prime said this year he needed some HS recruits to develop.
@jarod1900 no he said he needs freshman who are expected to play and contribute right away get it right!
@ okay fair point- question for you though- what school did the freshman play for before they were freshmen?
He didn't change to late, add the 105 player rule is a larger factor in him changing.
@frankromano490 whatever he's starting over year 1 loading!
Forget the redshirts. Start playing them.
