That is because you can't forget something that never happened. They slept together once which at the time is what the show heavily implied it as a one off.
Since I started watching NCIS on Netflix I realized that ABBY is a keeper. do whatever you have to but never forget her. I have watched the beginning of this series a couple of times. I would have made the romance between far deeper and long lasting. I would have started by changing Tim's response to Tony's snide casket remark by having Tim say to Abby, "I don't care what you call the bed so long as you are in it." They could have been the best dear fiends and occasional lovers couple ever. When Abby left the show became just another cop drama. Nothing special.
