It's a good start to remind people about the history. Still, I think there were also positive aspects which were ignored, such as preserving the unity of the multicultural, multiethnic, subcontinent where there's a swath of languages. Granted, the independence process was a shambles, but the partition was inevitable. There were already too many massacres even before the partition, and Muslims wouldn't have it any other way.

Why should I be branded coloniser, My own people were and still are colonised by a foreign ruling elite and now being replaced as repayment for what said 'ruling elite' did.
I expect that the number of Brits who set foot in India during the period I mentioned (pre independence) is lower than the number of people of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi ancestry living in Britain today...

These are some really tough points to intellectually content with. But I humbly request you to not redefine the word ‘colonisation’. It is clear that in that era, the victims of European dominance were largely those who were not European.
Such dominance is not re-enacted by immigrants who wish to live among Europeans today. What you are describing is simply countries opening their doors to globalisation due to the immense economic benefits that it offers. If this is not in the interest of the people and their leaders, they can simple choose to not do it. But do not play the same game that hitler played with the Jews, by implying that south Asians today are colonising and oppressing your country.

Today "such dominance is not re-enacted by immigrants" but in forty years the immigrants will make a majority of the population.
Already the Anti-white/Anti-European narratives abound from colonisers to slavers. Why should I not view this as preparation for the 'hitler game' against my own people.
It might well be that the best chance my people have is to reframe the arguments and utilise negative emotion.
