    I was hoping this movie would be a faithful version of the novel but even though it wasn't, it was extremely enjoyable. I first found out about this when I read Dick Smith created the Mr. Hyde makeup. Not only was it a great makeup design but the makeup looked great in closeups. The only downsides for me was the shot-on-video look and the score. To be fair, the tale is so well known, I don't know if the mystery aspect of the original novel would work so perhaps there's good reason a faithful movie has yet to be made. Thank you for uploading this movie. I watched it streaming today and it's nice to know it's also available for me here.

    This is not from 1986 but 1968! For 1968 this is pretty decent Video quality! Produced and Directed by Dan Curtis who was doing DARK SHADOWS at the time and if you'll observe: the music you hear is from Dark Shadows.

    • @davidgradwell8830
      @davidgradwell8830 Год назад +1

      Very close, but actually, the music from Jekyll/Hyde was reused on Dark Shadows. For example, the "Darkness in Collinwood" music that overlays the J/H opening title sequence debuted here in this 1968 TV movie and was introduced soon thereafter on Dark Shadows, specifically with the 1968 episode where Barnabas attempts to rid himself of Cassandra/Angelique by taking a knife to her portrait in the drawing room of Collinwood. The sting music used at the end of the J/H title sequence was also used in its end credits finale. It was later reused in the Curtis versions of Frankenstein and Dorian Gray to also close those movies and as the closing sting of House of Dark Shadows and the final moment of the last episode of Dark Shadows.
      The repetitious use of the score in Dark Shadows and other Curtis Horror projects suggests that it originated in DS, whereas the opposite is true; it was introduced here and later reused by DS and the classic horror adaptation TV movies.

IT WAS MADE IN 1968 IN ENGLAND & PRODUCED/DIRECTED BY THE LATE DAN CURTIS & THE LATE JACK PALANCE IN THE STARRING ROLE. IT'S BEEN ON DVD FORMAT FOR MANY YEARS.
