Very educative and thank you so much. After the first day when the pit is not yet full, do you cover as you wait for the following day or you just leave it and add more maize the following day
Names of this local preservatives? Molasses is classified as a sweetener not innoculant. Innoculant are strain(s) of bacteria that are classified as additives. Additives have insignificant addition on silage nutritional profile but has benefits especially on minimising spoilage, fasten fermentation, minimise heating up, stabilise PH faster etc. Molasses has no significant use while ensiling maize especially if harvested at the right stage.
Hi, I'm not sure I fully understand this question but on our page Dairy Networks on Facebook we have been having a fodder discussion. Cows need energy, protein, minerals/vitamins, water and fiber. Maize and nappier fall into the energy section which is usually the most dominant as a cow requires lots of energy to fulfill all its basic bodily functions before it can even produce a litre of milk. It doesn't however disregard the need for all other categories.
Just what I needed. Thanks @Dairy Networks
Ahsante

If compaction is excellent and pit has a roof there is no much need to cover. If pit is exposed with an average compaction then covering is important
The level of comradely in compacting the silage is wonderful, joyful and i love it. Also if i have a compactor can that help

Who else liked the compacting dance?😅😅
How much acres of maize farm has been able to produce those 300tns of silage?
Good job. What is his unit cost? Is the 300tons in 1 pit and how does he prevent spoilage after opening
He uses 3 Pits
This is why I prefer the mound . Ukishatoa unarudisha udongo and you're good to go
How many litres of Molasses is required to the 100kgs of Nappier Grasses
¼ litre diluted in ¼ water and spray using sprayer. The ½l mix is even enough for 500kgs if sprayer is used rightly
Good work. Can one use innoculums during ensiling? Which innoculum can you recommend and who are the suppliers?
mola plus, ecosyl, bonsilage etc
@@dairynetworks do you reccoment someone to use Innoculums .. is it more effective lk Using the molases and all local preservatives??

Good stuff
How much is your silage
@@briansindhaysilage2108 I don't sell any yet but later in the year I want to start selling chopped napier to very small scale farmers.
All the best, I'm sure there are farmers who will appreciate this
Is there any use of concentrate in this farm?
Absolutely YES. Those high productions of 45 litres can't be achieved without concentrates
What are the dimensions of a 10 tonne pit ?
Well compacted silage 1M³ holds 900 -1000kgs.
