After i've seen your first contact video i decided to buy this espresso machine. It's my first manual espresso machine, and i found it very easy-to-use. I bought the black one because in my opinion looks better. After some days I can recommend it, it is really quiet and the espresso is very tasty. The price was around 700€. Good thoughts from Romania!
I got this machine 3 months ago, i'm loving it so much, still learning how to do latte art, only complaint is i wish the bean container was removable, otherwise everything is great loving the creamy espresso, also thank u for helping me with grinder setting earlier, loving your content
Hey Tom, I just bought it today, thanks to your video. I was planning to buy coffee machine for a while now. And I finally decided today! I luckily found it in a near store and it was in my initial budget. Thank you for your videos 🙏
Tom, I'm glad you called out the non-removable/non-serviceable hopper. Some on-line reviews have already noted broken grinder issues. Question: does the machine still work if you grind from a different grinder rather than the one on the machine? That is, can you skip the Delongi's grinder part entirely and still use the machine (e.g. the grinder on my Breville Barista Express broke years ago but I just use a stand-alone grinder and all works fine)
@MervynBunter, yes you can. I have the Opera (and LOVE IT!), and you can fill and tamp your portafilter manually if you want to; or need to. I have been having fun grinding into the portafilter, putting on a dosing funnel, raking the grinds with a WDT, and then tamping -- either back into the Opera's grinder using the Smart Tamper, or manually with a separate tamper. I love that you have the options to be as automated or manual as you like with this machine!
Hey, nice review! We have this machine since december and we are very happy. Can agree with your points! So now i have to try the cold espresso :) I noticed that you have choosed the middle temperature setting, but why? Did you measure the temperature at the hottest setting?
Looks like the suggested retail price for this unit increased by $300 today in Canada. I could be wrong but it looks like there was an across the board price increase for their line of machines.
Hi Tom, as always mate, clear and concise review. 2 things please. 1. Can it run the frother while it's squerting out espresso simultaneously? 2. Comparing taste with magnifica that you reviewed. Which one would you get if you consider, price, drink quality and speed? Cheers
Hey Tom, I just found the channel and I’m loving the videos. My daughter and I have been drinking regular drip coffee from an older Ninja Coffee bar for the last few years. We just got a fantastic deal on the Delonghi ECP3630 and have started to enjoy espresso drinks. Any chance you could do a quick series on basics for those just starting out?
Just thinking: a test you might do to this and any other machine is to see if they conserve your settings during a power failure. My machines (Delonghi and Sage) don't bother, but it would be simple to use NVRAM or incorporate a CMOS-style maintenance battery like every bog-standard PC. The battery would probably outlast the machine - the one in the PC I'm using right now lasted 12 years.

Delonghi with non-pressurised basket! I even replayed that moment in video, because I thought I heard it wrong. Otherwise, these were always pretty capable machines in good hands, especially for darker roasts.

Same with the 3-way solenoid valve, never seen it on De'Longhi machine
Hi Tom! Nice review! I have a question about milk steaming. How long did it take to steam this small pitcher to the desired temperature? Thanks and keep up good reviews! I subsribed :)
Hi Tom, Have you ever seen the Breville Barista mini? I saw it recently in my store on a big sale. The specification indicates that it is a very good, decent and cheap espresso machine. A bit more expensive than the Dedic, but it gives PID, professional steam wand and 58 mm portafilter.
you are absolutely right from a technical standpoint but I was more wondering about best bang for the buck. that used to be the ninja and my question would be does the delonghi offer more for its respective price point with the build-in temper and overall better build quality (?)
Nice review! Pity on the fixed hopper though. I wonder if it has the fine grind adjustment like with the Breviille/ Sage. Also, I think I heard it purge the thermoblock to cool down after steaming. Does it?
Nope, it doesn't have an inner grind collar like Breville, but it doesn't need it imho. Yes, it cools down automatically, but it's not such a water hog like the Breville. Cheers!
what you think about this coffe machine Breville mini barista VCF125X. You can buy in Uk or IReland (please note its not sage Brand), Sage brand is also available here. But I can see its very similar to sage, but price it is way less in comparison to sage.
Just a heads up, the La Specialista Maestro EC9665M also has a 3-way valve, and comes with the backflushing disc. The Maestro also has a removable bean container. This is NOT the first machine to have both a backflush and a 3-way solenoid.
Could you please review the casabrews neutron pro🙏🙏🙏🙏? It's their 500 dollar dual boiler espresso machine!!! I havent seen anyone do a deep dive on it yet
I have Maestro for 3 years now, every day it makes 3-4 drinks, no issues so far. Weekly cleaning of grinder and machine, 4 times a year descaling. Only issue is the lack of consistent steam pressure for milk.
Thanks Tom, but you missed a detail you typically include in most of your reviews: What kind of boiler does it have?

This is not a boiler machine. Most of delonghi machines come with thermoblock, a coil that heats the water instantly. One of reasons I have similar delonghi in my house is that it heats instantly, and is simple enough to make my wife being able to pull good shots and even steam some milk.
Hello! I am aware that this might be a stupid question- but how do you put water into it??- asking before I purchase it- because if it has its own tank its awesome but if I have to connect it to a system than I am screwed. Also if it has a tank- how big is it? Sorry, I just cant find any information online. Thank you! Nice video! :)

Hello tom I bought the ninja cafe luxe because of your reviews and I love it but, you seem to be able to get an unbelievable amount of crema and I have try many different coffees and I can't get it, can you make a video about it
Can’t believe they still haven’t included a removable bean hopper. Also no mention of a water filter it doesn’t have one to protect against limescale? Even with back flush features it won’t be enough to remove scale. I do like the De'Longhi but not enough to want to replace it with my 5 year old Sage coffee machine.
It's better to use a filtering jug anyway, the in-tank filters are garbage. They make the pump work harder and they throw carbon into the circuit (which can clog up things like the flowmeter).
Hi Tom. Nice presentation, thank you. It's a nice coffee machine, but I don't feel like frothing milk manually. My specific question is still whether the Delonghi La Specialista Touch or the Ninja Luxe Café Premier is the better choice? Át Ninja, Model 701 will finally (certainly) be on the market, so the Luxe Café Pro, which includes the manual tempering and froths milk automatically, and the coffee grinder can also be taken apart, but I don't like it so much from the pictures the "display" unit itself and I can't put it together in terms of assembly quality, and can it be compared to the Delonghi machines in terms of quality in general? Can the Ninja make as good coffee as a Delonghi? Why is a 3-way Soleonid valve good, what does it do? Thank you for your detailed answer
I'd say the internal build between Ninja and Delonghi are very similar. I think the ES701 will compete very evenly with the Opera. But the ES701 is delayed, and won't be ready until summer at the earliest. Fantastic review, thanks. This is the first machine with the 3-way valve that's in my price range. Currently I have the Dedica and a stand alone grinder. It's not super consistent. It depends on the amount of beans in the hopper for example. More beans = more weight pressing down = larger dose. The Ninja is better because it weighs. A HUGE plus point, and what I really appreciate about the Ninja.
