My family says this is a beautiful bag. They thought I bought it at a store I told them no I learnt how to make this through bobwilson 123 on youtube. Thankyou so much for making this lots of fun and easy to do.
I am just beginning to crochet and was so happy to find your pattern and tutorial for the market bag. I made one for my mother for her birthday and am so pleased with the outcome. I couldn't have done it without you.
I finally got comfortable with the triple crochet. My bag is almost done, working on handles. Your bag is so nice. thank you for such clear instructions.
Newbie here and I just have to say, you are a wonderful teacher! I have strictly been learning via the Internet and you have me hooked! Thanks so much!
Thank you so much! I love your videos you are so helpful, especially since I just started crocheting ! I've done quite a few projects i thought I would never be able to do because you are so simple to follow!
SO pretty!!! I love the raspberry pink color you've used and the cute lil stripes near the top of the bag. It's really nice! You are a crochet genius!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I just started watching youtube videos to learn crochet last week. Yours are by far the best. I just completed this bag and can not believe I could accomplish this as a beginner! The hard part is choosing which of your tutorials to do next. Thank you!!
I'm so excited for my bad already! I have the whole base and I'm working on my rows. Your tutorials are really great and easy to follow. I'm just getting back into crochet and your videos have helped immensely. My bag is Dark Orchid Purple but I want a white stripe like yours. Lol Well Thank you again, Happy Crochetting!
very pleased with my market bag. I made a small compartment. inside to holdcell phone, money or small items that may otherwise fall out I also single crochet along handles for more finished look. thanks so much for your videos.
Love love love it! I just finished mine took about a day. I made it in blue gray and white yarn I had left over from an afghan. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
Hi Clare as always love the new crochet bag I have four daughters and they are always asking for something new that their friends don't have, this bag like all your patterns is great and fast for me to make up. So thanks again and please keep all your wonderful patterns coming. A Family For Ever devoe60
OH NO ! I hate to pull out work :( I had to do it last night too. If this happens again try a smaller hook. OR if you have finished to whole bag, use a small hook and do a few rounds of single crochet around the top of the bag after you do the treble stitches, if it still isnt looking like a bag, Do some decrease rounds hope this helps
Hi clare, finished it today. I'll take pictures and send to your email tomorrow. (My tomorrow; your day after.) My husband says it's beautiful! Wow, a compliment on something! I'm happy after my very first bag, especially one this size! Keep these wonderful projects coming!
hi ! I used cotton as a personal preference, If you want to do tighter stitches you can try using the double crochet stitch, you may need a few extra increase rounds :)
Finished! This was so much fun to make and easy for this beginner. I did make the top band wider (got carried away) and the strap shorter. I’m not a fan of the treble stitch but muddled through. 😏 thanks for making an awesome video. Now I want to try one in double crochet.
I have looked and looked at all different shopping bags, and I believe I ll be doing yours, its not too meshy and the one handle is very convenient also I can make it longer or shorter, and I love where the handles are thick so things won t fall out as easily either!! Thanks for sharing!! But , here it comes huh, ha ha I do think when I sew the handle up I probably will start by sewing up the back loop to the the front loop, on the inside and to reinforce it I ll just complete it with the front loop to the back loop also just as you have done, and wrap it up a little more reinforced because the cans and bottles can be really heavy if your shopping grocery can goods? ty
I love this pattern! I am very new to crocheting and I just finished this bag. It's no where near as great as yours but not bad for my second project. You explained every step amazingly. Can't wait to see more!
Thank you for this, I was able to complete it in a day! I used a lovely leafy green color for the main bag part, and a cream color similar to yours for the upper trim. It looks great!
Really love this bag I did it different I did a double crochet circle bottom like u would for a beanie.... Then made the bag with the solid shell stitch icing the colors with dark and light purple and had to use ur directions for the strap...thank u for showing me the trick with sewing the straps together I could not stand how it stuck out like that so thanks again for showing me ur neat little tricks god bless!
Hi! I was thinking this would be super cute lined too. I think you would have to make two linings with wrong sides facing each other so the seams are on the inside. This would also give you the opportunity to use a fun summer fabric and add pockets and a zipper or magnetic closure. Hope you didn't mind me popping in!
Beautiful tote bag! I just love tote bags. I don't need anymore, but it doesn't stop me from doing them! Thank you for sharing this, will try it as soon as I can get more yarn! :)
that bag would look awesome in a rainbow of colors. My favorite colors are turquios(sp), yellow, spring green, orange and yellow. I think it would be really cool looking.
Hi Clare, I'm making a very big cluster stitch bag with this handle. I don't have facebook, but I guess I can figure out some way to send you a picture of the finished product. This is my first bag. I'm thinking of lining it. Love your work!
my grandma taught me to crochet, when turning on a single crochet, the chain 1 moves it up and we didn't work that stitch cuz it was the one that moved the work up for the next row....i find if u crochet in that last stitch it bunches it up too much and throws off the stitch count and makes the work not lay flat. Thanks for posting i enjoy your videos :)
I like your new website! I think this is beautiful. I think I will use the same colors pink and white then I will give it to my teacher who has breast cancer. And congrats today you made it to over 70,000 subscribers. Xoxo:)
Hi Clare, you can sharpen your scissors with Aluminum foil... tear off a section, fold it in half lengthways and then use the scissors to cut strips... sharpens scissors every time
Hi, I use the treble crochet for the base and then the continue with the treble crochet for the sides of the bag, the single crochet is only used for the band around the top and the handles hope this helps you
Your videos are great!!!! where can I get a copy of this pattern to take with me while Im working. I usually watch your complete video then, decide if Im up to the challenge. It would be really nice to have the written directions. And the video for reference. Thank you
HI there, they are called Clover Armour, you can get them on ebay, I have had mine for years and I got a friend in canada to get them for me Local yarn shops may have them, Morris and sons in Sydney may have them
I have started this pattern using 8ply cotton & size 4mm crochet hook (Australia). Do I need to do more than 12 rows before starting the top part? What ply yarn are you using in the tutorial & besides cotton what other yarn works well for a market bag? Thank you.
hello i am using 10ply worsted weight cotton american yarn. you can go up more rounds if you want your bag to be larger or you can make it as shallow as you like. I would suggest making these bags in cotton. you can also double 8ply if you choose.
You are so awesome!!!! thank you and your family for my quiet time n beautiful creations for me and my grandhildren.
As a person who never got a hook in hand, I find your instructions very easy to follow. You made me like crocheting!! Thank you very much. ..

bobwilson123 - can you tell me how long the bag measures before starting the top handle part please?
Hi, Love your username :)
You can use the magic ring or the chain 4 or 5 and join with a slip stitch if you like that better
thank you for watching
