Arthur de Silva: I just discovered this 2013 performance on RUclips and I am totally impressed with the Performance and Production coming from China. Placido Domingo sings the Title Role and Eugene Kohn conducts an ALL CHINESE ensemble of the other Principals, Chorus and Orchestra, sung in perfect Italian. The production is true to the Biblical Period, with beautiful costumes, sets and decor. The Sound Track and Photography are superb. and fortunately with no subtitles to mar the presentation. Obviously a lot of hard work has gone into this performance to present a World Class performance of Verdi's Magnificent Third Opera "Nabucco". Bravissimo Tutti e Mille Gracie.
Bellissima rappresentazione vocale,scenica,costumi meravigliosi opera di artisti Italiani. Ma noi italiani per poter godere della magia dell opera dobbiamo andare in CINA?????????
E quello che mi sono detto vedendo questo splendido spettacolo. Gli ultimi anni si fanno solo o quasi, schifezze di messa in scena in Europa , woke aiutando. Meno male c'è internet.

I really love this production. The sets and costumes are amazing. Domingo acts very well. I wonder how many Chinese are interested in Italian opera.
NCPA China has produced some of amazing productions of Italian and French operas in the past ten years, the Aida is the most astnoishing and must see one! But you are right that there are not many Chinese people interested in western operas, so the theatres do not perform nor produce much western operas. It's not convenient for those opera lovers really.
But all those NCPA old and new productions they invited the designers, directors and conductors from the West, especially the stage and costumes design they always invite the best from the world or Italy.

Superb production like one would wish to see in Europe and not the so called revised productions by stage director who should immediately be sent to psychiatrics for a long period of analysis or to asylums!
Domingo is amazing at 72 and had stupendously improved his acting among the years. If there is one small critic to be done, is the tempo for the "Va pensiero" which is sung a bit too fast and which begins too loud. It doesn't help the contrast with the fortissimo of the middle section.
As usual Frigerio gives us his enormous talent of sets designer as well as his eternal costumes companion Franca Squarciapino superb taste and talent. This is how Verdi's operas should be staged and not the minimalists productions we have to suffer nowadays in Europe. The Paris Opera management should get a staging training in China to stop the stupidities and ugliness we have to suffer at Himalayan prices!

La caballetta della terza parte tagliata quasi interamente aiuta non poco Domingo che sicuramente nel da capo avrebbe avuto non pochi problemi come in tutte le recite di Nabucco da lui sostenute... Non ha la voce per fare il baritono, anche se in compenso sul palcoscenico è unico!!! Comunque nel complesso buona recita!!!
Love this production! But, sorry, Domingo still does not have a typical "Bariton Voice"!

Were you in Beijing, China sir? NCPA China has a new dvd store which selling DVDs and CDs, it has Nabucco. They are selling all operas from their own production, I bought this dvd few years ago.
Or if you are in China, you can try buy it online from other sellers.
Big voice for Abigaille except for chest tones. Diction is a bit labored. But a gorgeous tone!
The Zaccaria and chorus are quite. Abigaille is a little sloppy and the middle and bottom of her voice is completely covered by the orchestra

Es un papel de extraordinaria dificultad.. Hace lo que puede. Es, ad😢, una pésima actriz.
Belle représentation , bel orchestre, choeurs très beaux , solistes superbes , une seule erreur dans tout ça Abigaille !!! Abigaille , une véritable catastrophe ; grelots dans la voix , une horreur! Dans une si belle distribution pourquoi trouver une Abigaille hors sujet ?!!! Ne commentons pas le pathétique Domingo, qui encore une fois vient gâcher une représentation qui aurait pu être belle!!! Il ne veut pas prendre sa retraite , veut il gâcher l'image magnifique que nous avons de lui comme ténor????
Beautiful performance, beautiful orchestra, very beautiful choirs, superb soloists, only one mistake in all that Abigaille!!! Abigaille, a real disaster; bells in the voice, a horror! In such a beautiful cast why find an off-topic Abigaille?!!! Let's not comment on the pathetic Domingo, who once again spoils a performance that could have been beautiful!!! He doesn't want to retire, does he want to spoil the magnificent image we have of him as a tenor????
优美的演奏、优美的乐队、非常优美的合唱、高超的独奏，所有这些中只有一个错误，那就是《阿比盖尔》！阿比盖尔，一个真正的灾难；声音中的钟声，令人毛骨悚然！在如此优秀的演员阵容中，为什么要找一个无关紧要的阿比盖尔？我们暂且不去评论可悲的多明戈，他又一次破坏了本可以很美的演出！他不想退休，难道他想破坏我们对他作为男高音的美好印象吗????？
