Alyssa, having a small wedding sound sentimental and beautiful. Having your close family & friends by your sides than rather having lot of people you barely know its sound like a hassle. I hope you and your fiancé turn husband have a magical future. Love & lot and lot of memories sending your way.
I got married last august I had around 25 people there. I’m from Texas Houston area and I had my wedding in Galveston at an event center that was located on the water it was so beautiful. I didn’t pay no more $5,000 and that includes the food, music and photographer. Even before covid I was never a big wedding type person. We did the same thing for drinks that you did and we still have bottles of wine from our wedding. I did spend $1,600 on my dress but mother in law help me with the cost as a wedding gift. I wasn't invited to my neice's wedding because it was small. I only have 2 neices and no other relatives of that generation and the other neice has like 3 male partners and considers herself gender neutral and already had a binding ceremony so I'm not looking forward to any wedding there. Thing is, the wedding was >6 months ago and as time passes I just feel more left out of this young couple's life. No one sent me info on how to see their wedding photos or an invitation to see their new $1.5 million house and I have no idea what his folks or anyone else on his side of the family is like. I'm 62 and in some years I'm sure the bulk of nursing home decisions will fall to her, and she and her sister will inherit the bulk of my estate. So I just feel cut out by this (obviously not financial or social distancing decision--since they were married in the corner of a huge wedding venue barn) small wedding decision. I know for some (& likely for most of you watching this really helpful video) a small wedding is necessary venue or cost-wise, but please think of something the day of (not at some future unspecified date) for left out but interested loved (or sort of loved) ones.
