Ciao! Most Japanese anglers indeed use those handmade short handled net with retro style bag (not so good for the fish actually) If I can suggest the best landing net brand in my opinion is Fishpond nomad nets. I myself use the mid-length regular one and the mid-length boat net one depending on the size of the fish I am after. For trout the regular mid-length net is the best because you have a little more extra reach than with a typical short handnet and the bag is made out of rubber so it doesn't damage the fish.
