A conscientious but driven Polish refugee disrupts the social hierarchy on a Georgia farm in the 1940s.

A wealthy and eccentric woman is the owner of a farm. She hires a Polish refugee to be the farm's new overseer. He is a hard worker and soon becomes a valuable asset to the farm. However, a family of white farm hands, are threatened by his success and try to manipulate her into firing him. Eventually, when the farm owners' appreciation for him fades away, he will be left with a dark fate.
Samuel L. Jackson's first television movie. "The Displaced Person" is a novella by Flannery O'Connor. It was published in 1955 in her short story collection A Good Man Is Hard to Find. A devout Roman Catholic, O'Connor often used religious themes in her work and her own family hired a displaced person after World War II. The story was adapted and released in 1977 as a Public Television production for the series The American Short Story, starring Irene Worth and Shirley Stoler. The cast also includes John Houseman, Robert Earl Jones, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Irene Worth was a BAFTA 1959 Award Winner for Best British Actress. Samuel L. Jackson is known for Pulp Fiction (1994), The Hateful Eight (2015), and for his role as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
