A tip for those natural peanut butters that separate is to store them upside down. Just flip it right side up a few days before you open it, and the oil will mix itself back in. Even if you don't flip it over having all the oil at the bottom instead of the top makes it a lot easier to mix together by hand.
@@a.y.t.a.s.494 I've been doing it for years with the Kirkland organic peanut butter, and never had a problem. If the factory seal fails from sitting upside down too long then it was probably already compromised to begin with. Maybe if it sat that way for YEARS, but I eat a good amount of peanut butter so they never sit around for more than a few months.

I've stopped buying canned food for long term. Yes I have and keep a lot. I've changed my prepping to dries beans, rice, dehydrated vegetables, and 25 year shelf life survival foods. I like to set it and forget it. Great info. I tell other preppers about your channel all the time. I really like watching the old survival food you open. Take care
I started canning and dehydrating food from my garden. I am learning to transfer stock piles into the glass jars such as the beans, nuts, pasta and grains for extended storage life. I have considered getting a few chickens but not sure we eat enough eggs. I have seen how people dehydrate eggs which might be something for you to consider if you get an abundance. Thanks for the tour and videos. Please do more garden.
I saw on someone show that eggs can last for a longer time if you rub a specific oil on them. It might have been mineral oil, but I'm not sure so please do your own research.
@ml9867 just don't wash the eggs when you get them. They already have that special oil from the chicken, and they don't require refrigeration. Right from the chicken until you wash them
I'll say again, I've been watching since the 1st decades old canned foods and your content is still as entertaining. Thanks NEW&M/Post10, your stuff on Post10 is also entertaining.
I love all of your videos, but this one is seriously important info that everyone can use! And a great culmination of all the knowledge you've gained from "experimenting" 😊
Glad you said something about leaving a comment or would've forgotten. I would like to tell you (long time watcher here) I have shared information you've taught me to many, many people. You have helped me, and one of things I love to talk about is the popcorn prepper food you showed me in your 100+ year old popcorn video which you showed here, in this video. I was sold on popcorn as a heck of a prepper food. I have told me dad, my friends and even my ceo at work. Love the weird camping videos. loved this video. excellent work. I wanted also to mention I saw a video once were peanuts lasted in a glass jars. musta been the mid 90's or before and were nice to taste. Have a great day.
Loved this. Cancer causing dyes! So true. I’m a mini prepper. I could survive a few months since I don’t eat a lot but could supply my family if needed
I ate some whole tomatoes, from a stainless steel can, and it was 10 years after the "expiration date", and I was amazed on how exceptionally good they tasted!! So, look for stainless steel canned food's!!
I have revisited your channel regularly recently! Dude! Keep the videos coming! Informative, creative, and just down to earth! It might be nerdy to others, but WE ARE THE OTHERS!!!!
Very interesting and I enjoyed seeing your stuff and learning about it. You are definitely prepared. I am not stocked piled anymore like I was when food items and tissue paper etc was hard to come by and I don't have the storage anymore. I helped friends and neighbors with items during supply chain fail. I could last a week only now if something happens. Not sure I would want to live in a world of war, nuclear disaster, etc etc. I should move closer to you because I would make it for sure. I want of course 😊 You are very intelligent and interesting, I really like/ love your videos. I learn a lot from you. Georgia Fan 👍
Thanks for another video... I just finished watching the kayak camp. i enjoyed it. For a moment when you showed all that water on the deck, i thought you'd fallen into the water 😮...
Great video! I love the prepper stuff! I too agree, always good to be prepared, never know what can happen. Water filtration for preppers would be a good video.
With you being into gardening, that would be an awesome video for you to build a root cellar!! I have no clue how but that would be an interesting video and you preserve all your vegetables that you grow
Really good information. Thanks. I had cases of water in my basement and mice got in and chewed through the plastic caps. Now I store the cases of water in small plastic shipping containers to try to keep the rodents out.
Concrete and steel wool filled spray foam over all the holes, you can find. I haven't had a mouse in 4 years. Now I trap them outside before they can find or make another way in
Absolutely love your channel first video I saw was the one with the Banana flakes and black eyed peas opening your videos are very educational when it comes to shelf life of certain foods…Thanks for making the videos..PS your wood burner is awesome…John from Orlando Florida
That catalytic stove looks great! My dad has been cutting wood and using a very inefficient older wood stove but I just showed him your stove and he is very interested! He has been trying hard to find a satisfactory replacement and had some frustrations with some failed attempts but never came across the catalytic type. My dad is in his 70s now and will be glad to get a stove that will use way less wood and take less work. My dad already found a place that has one and is checking out the code requirements but after some renovations we may indeed get one pretty soon.
Ate 7 year old Boyardee mini raviolis today. Tasted ok. Inner contents of ravioli dried a bit/had weird consistency but otherwise ok. Also lots 6 year old creamy chowder soups holdimg up well. Dump one on a bowl of rice and beans and that's a full day of calories easy.
It really is unfortunate that a lot of stuff doesn’t come in glass anymore or in cans. My preferred brand of pure maple syrup and honey comes in plastic bottles. I always pour them in quart mason jars, and pressure can them for 5 minutes just to seal the jar. The newest jar I opened was 8 years old and was perfect.
The fat in the ramen might go rancid but not entirely sure how long that would be. For anyone thinking prepping is stupid, prepping saved my butt in 2024 when I had medical issues, lost my job, lost my income, and had to basically survive while I got things back in order. Still recovering, but the couple of months of stockpiled food kept me from being hungry.
You are brilliant for being prepared! I admire your setup and knowledge. I don"t remember if you ever mentioned anything about an emergency weather radio?📻 Also you will want to have something for entertainment. Like books or crossword puzzkes etc. I've endured extended power outages and it helps to have a distraction. 🔋🔦📚
You just need potassium iodine tablets. Those pro kits don’t prevent you from absorbing radiation. The potassium iodine is absorbed by your thyroid and in theory prevents radioactive iodine getting absorbed by the thyroid.
Have you looked into getting a freeze dryer? I think you would enjoy it and you could freeze dry extra yield from your garden. And it would make for some interesting videos for your channel.
I might consider that someday just to make videos of it, but I don't think people would have enough interest to warrant it. Those are super expensive machines, costing many thousands, and i'm not ready to do something like that
Awesome video, I love those shelves. I'm not super experienced with stocking up on things though I do have some canned goods and frozen things. I have a vacuum sealer that I can put a product in and it vacuum seals it so I use that for freezing things. For other stuff, is there any value to transferring products into another container that is better sealed? Or does opening the product and letting air get to it defeat that purpose?
Nice surplus of goods Post! I don't think it's crazy to prep, I think it's smart because if the crap ever hits the fan, you will be much better off than most. I've always thought that if things ever did go south, that you would definitely be the kind of person to survive and get by.
2:40 Apple pectin also protect from radiation. I also recommend keeping active charcoal pills to help against food poisoning and stomach upset. 18:35 The type of fat that oxidizes less are saturated fat, then monounsaturated. Therefore I would rather store coconut oil in glass jar. Or macadamia nut oil in glass, which has less polyunsaturated fat than olive oil so will last even longer. Animal fats I think it depends on how the quality of the processing and how pure the product, some might have protein and other substances along with the fat that affect the shelf life. Also the diet of the animal, rumen animal like cow have more saturated fat compared to pigs and chicken who are monogastric, so pure tallow from grassfed cow will last better than bacon grease from factory farmed pigs. I am still cooking the camel fat (tallow) in a glass jar I bought from 2019 and it still taste fresh and no rancidity-ness to it. 20:10 I like low fat peanut powder.
Super helpful real world experience and info! Where did you get that figgy pudding spam? Family in the Philippines has many typhoons. I tell them to load up on beans, rice and oil but I will include more popcorn in that advice too.
Baking powder is a crapshoot. Depends on where it's stored. It can go bad in 4 months under regular use. But always sealed is a diff story. Better to keep the two parts separate so they can't neutralize each other. Baking soda in one box, cream of tartar in another.
Wow! A whole case of Tim Hortons soup. 😀 What I like about this video is that your recommendations are based on actual data. Your own observations of how various foods hold up in different packaging with time.
the peanut butter with the oil, might try turning them upside down. as the oil reaches the top. then rotate again as needed. keep the oil moving though it. Just a thought.

If you store them upside down the lid seal is far more likely to fail?

Spam doesn't deserve the bad rap it gets. If it was good enough for our troops in WW2, then it's good enough to go in my pantry.

I guess you’re right, from time to time it’ll do, but you have to remember that Spam ain’t a healthy food, so how much of Spam you consume matters.
