    A tip for those natural peanut butters that separate is to store them upside down. Just flip it right side up a few days before you open it, and the oil will mix itself back in. Even if you don't flip it over having all the oil at the bottom instead of the top makes it a lot easier to mix together by hand.

      If you store them upside down the lid seal is far more likely to fail?

    • @KetchPhraz
      @KetchPhraz 16 дней назад +1

      @@a.y.t.a.s.494 I've been doing it for years with the Kirkland organic peanut butter, and never had a problem. If the factory seal fails from sitting upside down too long then it was probably already compromised to begin with. Maybe if it sat that way for YEARS, but I eat a good amount of peanut butter so they never sit around for more than a few months.

    I started canning and dehydrating food from my garden. I am learning to transfer stock piles into the glass jars such as the beans, nuts, pasta and grains for extended storage life. I have considered getting a few chickens but not sure we eat enough eggs. I have seen how people dehydrate eggs which might be something for you to consider if you get an abundance. Thanks for the tour and videos. Please do more garden.

    That catalytic stove looks great! My dad has been cutting wood and using a very inefficient older wood stove but I just showed him your stove and he is very interested! He has been trying hard to find a satisfactory replacement and had some frustrations with some failed attempts but never came across the catalytic type. My dad is in his 70s now and will be glad to get a stove that will use way less wood and take less work. My dad already found a place that has one and is checking out the code requirements but after some renovations we may indeed get one pretty soon.

I have a vacuum sealer that I can put a product in and it vacuum seals it so I use that for freezing things. For other stuff, is there any value to transferring products into another container that is better sealed? Or does opening the product and letting air get to it defeat that purpose?

    2:40 Apple pectin also protect from radiation. I also recommend keeping active charcoal pills to help against food poisoning and stomach upset.
    18:35 The type of fat that oxidizes less are saturated fat, then monounsaturated. Therefore I would rather store coconut oil in glass jar. Or macadamia nut oil in glass, which has less polyunsaturated fat than olive oil so will last even longer. Animal fats I think it depends on how the quality of the processing and how pure the product, some might have protein and other substances along with the fat that affect the shelf life. Also the diet of the animal, rumen animal like cow have more saturated fat compared to pigs and chicken who are monogastric, so pure tallow from grassfed cow will last better than bacon grease from factory farmed pigs. I am still cooking the camel fat (tallow) in a glass jar I bought from 2019 and it still taste fresh and no rancidity-ness to it.
    20:10 I like low fat peanut powder.

    Baking powder is a crapshoot. Depends on where it's stored. It can go bad in 4 months under regular use. But always sealed is a diff story. Better to keep the two parts separate so they can't neutralize each other. Baking soda in one box, cream of tartar in another.
