Such an amazing presentation by David Benoit. He is such an amazing musician, and I just love his music. I have so much appreciation for the genre of contemporary jazz. In fact, that’s all I listen to. I don’t listen to rock much anymore. I don’t listen to pop, rap, country, or techno. It’s all Kenny G, Brian Culbertson, Steve Oliver, and Vince Ingala for me.

This event is just David's style! It matches his personality exactly! And as he says "never give up on your dreams"...I know of a group of 4 sisters who are in the Philippines, 4th Impact. I know them now for the past almost 3 years, because of their livestreams that they started in the pandemic. They've been performing since 2001, and have that very same motto. Would love to get
David in a collab with them at the very least. They are not only fabulous singers with harmony out of this world, but they are also like David, in being so down to earth and humble.

While David Benoit is known for being a Smooth Jazz pioneer, he is one of the few who hasn't sold out to formulamatic mediocrity and still stays on the cutting edge of creativity. To-date his early work is as listenable as his newer pieces. Mr. Benoit also recently inspired me to learn how to play piano myselfd. While I've been listening to his music since the late 80's, I only started playing two years ago. I can play Kei's Song and I'm about halfway through learning his piece "Jacqueline" by ear without learning to read music.

I found his music on the radio and cd's. I think he's my favorite pianist. Freedom At Midnight and Mountain Dance are my favorites.

Enjoyed everything about the talk except the title.
    Born middle-upper class.
    Supportive parents.
Started at a very early age.
    Had an "aha!" experience.
In my opinion, these are probably the most common traits of experts, especially in sports and music.
    Great talk though :)
