      It would have been nice if Fiorentina had been able to afford to keep him. I think it would have been better for the club and for Baggio, in the long run. He seemed to fit in quite well at Fiorentina, worked well with Dunga in midfield particularly I think (from the footage I have seen on RUclips). If they had been able to keep him and buy Batigol as well, I can imagine them working well together. Batistuta was obviously familiar with a South American style of play which I think Baggio was suited to; the one-twos and flicks and intelligent movement that could allow a pair of like-minded forwards to rapidly make holes in a defence.

      The result of vote for 20th century players were right. The only two playees who remotwlt come close to Pelé and Maradona in 20-th century were Baggio and Eusebio (for mw Cruygf was qst when I was young but now is fifth). This video shows that uoung Baggio was more talented than ukung Xrisriano in Msnxhester United and Izdane remotelt was not close to gom although won WC and Euro and was undeniably great player.
      Crisriano evolutionised feom midfielder in Mencherster United (voted by World Soccer Magazine as great midfielder), Baggio in 86-90 was bwtter version of young Crietiano (which ia often quoted as more interesing version of Cristiano Ronaldo). He would evokve info Pwléof 90's as being superiir to Crieriano Ronaldo in 10's.
      Cristiano Ronaldo if qouls plau for Barcwlina in 10's thwn would be more in shadow of Messi than Baggio in shadow of uoing Ronaldo Nazario in 98 Worls Cup 2023 showed that.

    Really nice compilation from his earlier years when he made his breakthrough with Fiorentina! I really love watching him in this period, so pure and explosive when dribbling, and he was already a very good playmaker and goalscorer as well! What's amazing is that I think there could be even more from this period from what I've seen, which makes me wonder how much more there must've been which isn't readily available today! From his Fiorentina period, I'd also add his bicycle kick goal (can't remember whom it was against), and there was one gorgeous curling effort after a free kick as well, when he scored a really nice goal from outside the box cutting in from the left after some lovely touches following the free kick, bending it into the top far corner. And also the goal he scored at the San Siro against Milan was brilliant, with the run in between the defenders and then to round the keeper before slotting the ball away!
    Then with Italy at the 1990 World Cup, among his highlights, I'd also add some of the link-up play he demonstrated with Schillaci against Uruguay to create some chances, and his touch on the goal kick which led to Schillaci's goal, plus his movement on the goal against Ireland that he scored that was ruled offside, and the dribbling run that started Schillaci's goal. And the free kick that he almost scored against Argentina, on top of converting in the shoot-out. Plus against England, the lovely goal he scored and the run he made to play in Schillaci who then won the penalty, and not to mention his lovely late assist for Berti's goal which was inexplicably disallowed when Berti was completely onside! I might've added his first free kick goal against Uruguay as well, and the assist he made for Vialli on his debut!

    • @danyoutube7491
      @danyoutube7491 3 года назад +1

      Yes, the years of repeated injury had taken their toll on his speed by '94 I think. He had been red hot from 89-93, but in 93/94 he had a slightly more injury prone season and had to have an operation on his knee a few months before the '94 world cup. He didn't look very comfortable or fluid when trying to sprint, with or without the ball at USA 94, though at lower speeds his play was as excellent as ever.

      @@mehdibellahcene5461 We had amazing players 94, but in my opinion, not a great team. The keeper was good, the defence legendary, the midfield was a mixed bag - Donadoni superb, Albertini and Dino Baggio were ok, certainly not at Pirlo and De Rossi's level when it came to bossing the engine room, Signori was completely wasted playing out on the left wing, Zola criminally underused (imagine Baggio and Zola supporting Signori in attack), and then we have the likes of Casiraghi and Massaro who were hard working honest pro's, but were a long way off from being World class. The 1990 team was a much better unit and played much better football.
