I love how the Hobbit is building up the theme of Sauron for TLotR. Those Dolgudur scenes, as well as the scene were Gandalfs goes to check for the graves of the nine and finds them empty... Goosebumps!
I always wished Tolkien would have elaborated more on the mysterious land of Rhun. It's such a big area of the map with nothing there but this massive dead sea.
As clever, creepy and imaginative as these ideas for the Sea of Rhun are, I think it's taking too much creative license since Gandalf needed to be speeding back to Bilbo and the Dwarves as soon as possible. Plus, I imagined the sea as being like true inland sea like the Caspian, quite green and beautiful with thriving port towns and maritime trade between the Northmen and the Easterlings before Sauron raused them to war.

That entire Sea of Rhun sequence sounds so interesting, I understand the plot-based reasons why they scrapped it but I would have loved to see it.

Sauron: I am obsessed with law and order!
Sauron’s Home:
The harad wraith was awesome! I never noticed him because I only distinguished the easterling khamul and the witch king himself.
