One of the very few self-improvement youtubers that I appreciate. No outlandish titles, straight to the point. Also, I realized I probably have ADHD thanks to you. Gonna do a professional ADHD test in the near future.
Ruri’s talent about inspire people is unique! After each and every video of her, hundreds of people write down how much they’re inspired…She deserves all the best every time!
Project based learning is spot on. I applied this method unknowingly at university and only focused on where the grades were, the assignments. I did not do any of the allocated readings in 7 years of university, I simply focused on the assignments. Of course in doing the assignments it is necessary to do a lot of reading in order to inform them. But the reading was practical in the sense that the information learned was applied directly to the task at hand. Great video!
Such like study is, in fact, Killing 02 birds with the same stone, but still everywhere and in every subject doing so is practically not possible or workable.
This is the right thing; you must practice to learn something. I can just add that I think anyone who wants to learn something has to take a real task or give it to themselves. They should try to resolve it, make some or a lot of mistakes, and then go back to learn why they were made and how to correct them. And so on. Every time, you become better.
I am having my coffee but the video is so great that I have to comeback to my room, and with my pen, write these things out and give a positive comment to the one who made the video. Your video is really amazing Ruri!

Admirable summary of Scott Young’s book. It has worked for me. Though I didn’t finish Dentistry, I finished Area Studies, and now work in archives and I’ve also invested time and effort learning copywriting and data analysis. Bout to get gigs in both. Most of these are commonly known and taught. But many people don't apply them properly. The most inmportant one I think is to teach what you know to really grasp and know if you have truely mastered the knowledge.
You're honestly amazing. Somehow I'm lucky enough that I don't need this video, I learn pretty easily mostly because everything I learn is something I'm very interested in. But your last tip...It's the icing on the cake. DO. SOMETHING. I don't read books, I study them. I write notes, I write what I understood about chapters, even though I don't even read those notes ever, I wasn't passively reading a book. And really this makes a world of difference because you can't just zip through a book like it's nothing, you need to understand it, you need to be able to explain what it meant, so you can at least take notes (or, like I do, write down examples). YOU GOT THIS. Ruri is so successful, you CAN be HER. I want to be her, with something else than RUclips but still. I will be as successful as Ruri is. I simply need to work hard.

Excellent video! I like the term "Teach Yourself" used in English because that is literally the best learning method imho, at least it worked wonders for me when learning any new topic. To elaborate, you are studying "whatever" as you read a page or watch a section of the tutorial, stop. Now try to teach yourself (in third person), what you just learned! Whether it is a new word/term in a new language or a command of computer programming language or algebra formula, this works. Speak out loud if you need to. I do. Hearing yourself when you are reading something enforces 2 senses which is better than one. When you try to explain yourself what you just learned, you will find out how well you actually retained the info. Then go back to re-read or watch the material for comparison. You will either confirm that you learned it correctly or will have to make corrections. Remember, you want to make sure what you are learning into memory is correct. You do not want to fill up your memory with incomplete or incorrect info! I also, 100% agree with task/project driven learning, especially when it comes to technical stuff. I learned scripting using mainly that. I had a task in mind that I needed to create a script for. So, learn enough commands and syntax from videos or books to start writing a line. Test it until you see it is working just the way you want it. Questions that start with "What if..." or "I wonder if..." is a great sign of "critical thinking". That has to happen to confirm you are learning and are dedicated to improve not just the project but yourself as well. Task/project learning forces you to practice the new knowledge on the fly while also confirming the validity of the info learned.
You're not. Your mind is subconsciously picking up and storing all these information. It'll all be useful when you start taking action whenever you choose to.
Awesome video, thank you so much for all that you do and share!! I absolutely love your channel. I also had no idea you could go to medical school part-time, YOU ROCK!!
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 03:16 🗺️ Meta learning, understanding how to learn effectively, is a crucial step before diving into a new subject or skill. 05:06 ⏰ Procrastination is a common challenge; be aware of triggers, patterns, and have a plan to overcome it. 06:01 📱 External distractions can derail your focus, consider using noise-cancelling earplugs to enhance productivity. 08:24 🌐 Immersion and directness in learning, where you apply what you learn, lead to better retention and understanding. 09:33 🛠️ Use the principle of drilling to focus on improving your weaknesses rather than only enhancing your existing strengths. 10:59 🤯 Combat the "illusion of knowing" by testing your recall and organizing information with retention tricks. 12:10 🧠 Active recall, challenging yourself, and spacing out learning sessions can aid in understanding and retaining knowledge.

Ruri, can you talk about how to enter the "flow state"? You know, that phenomenon where you are extremely focused and the work feels easy. There are many scientific papers that support this. I know you've experienced this state before, where you're so focused on your work that you lose track of time. How can we enter that state in this incredibly distracting world?
I'm beginning to realize the impact of my slower learning pace, you know, like missing out on quality time with my buddies. Gonna put in the effort to boost my learning speed with your suggestions!
I would add a person needs to consider the time of day most likely to be productive. For me, 3 pm in the afternoon it's naptime. Anything really important should be done before 3 pm, preferably late morning 9:30 am and after lunch up to 3 pm.
I am thankful to you 🎉👏🙏 from my bottom 💝 of heart for teaching me and all the valuable life changing lessons. God bless you. May you have more knowledge to inspire more and impact millions of life.
The physilogy should not be neglected before learning. Tense your body and then relax, take a deep breath and exhale slowly. Hemi and Holosync frequencies put the brain in an optimal state. Use these before or during learning.
Honestly, at first, I was intrigued by the title that you put on the video. Secondly, I like that you are very pleasing to the eyes while you are explaining. Lastly, but most importantly, your message is very organized that it seems I can't get enough of the the bite-sized, summarized, critically calculated sentences, and well-organized video transitions from you speaking to related clips to what you are saying, that inevitably hooked me in. You just gained a subscriber! More Power Ruri!

I love this. The concept of meta learning is brilliant-failing to prepare is preparing to fail, essentially.
probably the best most useful video i've ever watched, thank you so much for this guide on how to learn.
Glad it was helpful!

Love the call for action at the end :)
Thanks Ruri I needed this. ♥️
You have motivated me I hope that your channel continue being a success.
I'm beginning to realize the impact of my slower learning pace, you know, like missing out on quality time with my buddies. Gonna put in the effort to boost my learning speed with your suggestions!
I ordered that book you suggested… I’m so inspired by you!
Just in time for fall classes 🙂
I would add a person needs to consider the time of day most likely to be productive. For me, 3 pm in the afternoon it's naptime. Anything really important should be done before 3 pm, preferably late morning 9:30 am and after lunch up to 3 pm.
never not learned something from her videos !!
