  • This is my family’s hash that has been passed down through 3 generations! It first appeared in The Stroller Cookbook years age here in Spartanburg SC and we’ve tweaked it over the years! We use beef and pork and a multitude of spices to make plain and barbecue hash! I hope you enjoy!

    love em. I have my Grandmothers very 1st edition of Better Homes & Gardens cook book i think it was 1960. I love having it. especially with the foodstains on it lol 😍

      That is awesome! Those old books hold a lot of my favorite recipes. Hold on to them and pass them down to the next generation in the family. They will appreciate them as much as you do❤️

    Great recipe... I also cook hash... I use pork and beef also... I'm from Gaffney and my Mother N law gave me her recipe... Thanks for sharing

      @@JackiesSouthernSoul All is well. SC hash especially from Clinton SC is one of my favorite foods even more than Steak. I just never made it.

    Thanks for sharing! I’m also from Spartanburg and have a family hash recipe we cook every year. We cook anywhere from 80-200 lbs of hash at one time. I will be making one soon and I was looking up other videos to see how people did theirs. Yours is the closest to what I’m used to making. I also have a stack of those same magazines from herald journal.

      I miss the Stroller Cookbooks. I used to look forward to them every July. All of my family would call around the night before and the day of to remind each other to get one. As you can see I have duplicates because some years I’d buy extras just in case someone forgot to pick up one. Precious memories!

    Great Channel and wonderful recipe! I've been looking for a good recipe and may try adding a hogs head in the cauldron. After searching many hash recipes, it seems like families have their own take. I really love Ward's hash in Sumter.

    Great job Mrs Jackie. Can I substitute smoked turkey meat for the pork and would it cook quicker in a insta pot thankyou for sharing

    My father is from Ninety six SC and he used beef pork and chicken in his hash I am from Savannah Ga

      I bet that it was delicious too! There is nothing like homemade hash around the Summer holidays for my family. I like adding pork because it mellows out the beef. I’ve never thought of adding chicken but I just might this Labor Day. Thanks for your comment and God bless!

    Use cheese cloth for your bay leaves and peppercorns this will help when it is time to discard your items.

    ( 27:03 recipe) Love your content but my patience is very low I usually don't watch videos over 10 minutes for cooking recipes but I did enjoy yours

      Thank you for watching but you might want to stay with your shorter content channels. My videos average 30 second shorts all the way up to over an hour.
      The longer and more interesting the video is the more RUclips recommends them. Check out the analysis for your channel in your RUclips Studio account. That is if you have one.

      Hey Rodney. I have family in Union, Jonesville and Pacolet as well as Spartanburg. Sadly I don’t know many of my relatives in Union and Jonesville because my parents divorced when I was 4 or 5.

    Not southern hash. NO potatoes in bar b q hash and no chunks of meat. Great hash is smashed with a mash potato smasher until texture is very fine. Than ass seasoning. Salt, pepper, garlic powder rubbed sage and butter. Add yellow mustard until taste of real southern hash is acquired. Here you are making some kind of yankee hash.

      Obviously I’m not a Yankee and who in the world puts potatoes in HASH other than you? This isn’t Corned Beef Hash. You’re on the wrong video and channel all together with that attitude 🙏
