If you trade Joel Embiid, you can let Andrea Drummond start at the five add a back up five get you a barn full of draft picks and have room for another Star or a major role player. That’s a championship team without Joel Embiid. Just think what you can get for him to addto the other three
They would have to trade KJ and include Ricky Council and or McCain, plus 4 first rd picks for Lauri. This is the deal the sixers paused on because they wanted to see what McCain and Council do first before trading one or both to Utah. Ainge likes Ricky Council for some strange reason, he remains him of Jaylen Brown. Ainge wants to tank for Copper Flagg, keeping Lauri will cause them to win games for no reason. McCain, Council, Flagg could kick start a nice young core for the Jazz. Plus they will have lots draft of picks and a ton of cap space.

Start Drummond at Center and make Emb a strength PF. Embiid will have to adopt and accept the fact that Drummonds rebounding skills is the key role for Sixers success.
The problem with any of these "play Embiid at PF" scenarios is defense. You don't want Embiid's shot presence out of the paint, nor do you want him chasing close outs on the perimeter. Not to mention, Drummond isn't a good rim protector. And If you swapped them on defense you take away Drummond's greatest skill, which is rebounding the basketball. You want him guarding the perimeter even less. Come on guys.
@@TheJayofthejungle Drummond was a efficient rim protector for Sixers before the harden trade. Embiid guards the 4 all the time in switches tbh. I wouldn't want Drummond on the perimeter, but Embiid does it all the time as a center bro. Plus Drummond is a decent shot blocker, he used to be as dominant at shot blocking as he is at rebounding.
@009godspeed switches is different than forcing Embiid to use his energy on defense moving on the wing an entire game instead of playing as the anchor closer to the basket. Embiid as a 4 is not a good idea at all.
