Alright Zak, 1. Underutilized Fade Slash: Several times after a helm breaker or a iai slash where you know you cant helm breaker, you either reset or roll forward when a fade slash would serve to both reposition and to maintain DPS. Fade slash has the added advantage that (provided spacing and time) you can enter the spirit combo faster AND fill special gauge about 20% with spirit roundslash. 2. One reason my gameplay feels fast is because Im sure of the combos that I will use on each situation. Obviousl this takes muscle memory but knowing which attacks the monster will use based on your position and the monsters "beat" (attack pattern and rhythm) is indispensable for knowing when you can continue comboing and when foresight would be necessary. The space in between attacks that you can still trigger the next part of the combo feels prolonged to me for LS, meaning even during spirit thrust/helm breaker combos you have some leeway to the timing of when to string them together. This means you can blast it on full cylinders or slow roll them if you're unsure. 3. I know youre used to dodging this way for DBs but if youre using LS ANS gyro, then you dont want to sideroll ever really unless you deliberately want to use the thrust. Its far more efficient in terms of movement and damage to orient your cam in the direction of travel and forward roll into overhead slash. Its the easiest way to cut tails (even tall bois) and gives really good damage on top of you being able to fade slash and get to spirit roundslash. Thats all I'll say for now.
I think it's because the moveset on LS buffers a bit more than other weapons. Foresight frames are quite forgiving and even during the end of combos if you're buffering a dodge you *will* foresight... My gameplay *appears* fast because I try to use as little wasted movement as possible. Effectively attacking as often as I can. I'll upload some more clears, some mid, some great. But you'll see.
@@HuntersNotez Fair enough. I don't understand the Rise hate. Two things can be good at different things without one being objectively better. The customizability, ease of use, and over the top action make Rise super fun, and the immersion, graphics, and more grounded feel make World super fun too.
I LOVE both games so much and agree with you on this too. I blame it on players starting in world. I started with MH1 so I've seen it change so much over the years while keeping it's heart and through-line connected. So to me, it's just an equally fun, but different entry.
I've been maining Longsword for months. I love it! I'm used to the combos, for the most part, and know when to hit or when to dodge. Dual blades is my second ATM but I'm just not good enough with them yet. I'm used to the larger, slower hits of the Longsword and feel like I take stuff out much quicker, even though dual blades are RAPID!
Hi Zak, 1. Like others have mentioned, you need lock on for LS 2. Get used to cancelling helm breaker after iai counter, only use helm breaker when you are confident it is safe 3. Iai counter does counter roars, so you can gamble on it when you are out of specials
Also, I LOVE your comedic timing. Taking advantage of that confused Banbaro for such a quality joke. Lololol. "...the sound ofa youtube stream". "The puns are strong with this one." (He must be a dad). The scene of Kid Gohan getting wrecked... 😂😅 I also see you used the language of that conversation we had a while back about which pain you'd rather feel in the longrun(I know you likely thought this on your own anyway- still cool). "*OVERGRADE*" Sounding like the announcer from Time Crisis. Lol. The anti-lockon rant.... 🤌🏾 Great video overall, dude.
Haha I'm done with DB for THAT day.... I've never been a LS player. My brother on the other hand has LS in his blood. (IRL though, I love two handed swords and this style.)
That's really impressive that you took down a 6* with a grade 4 nonelemental longsword. Also you should do a GS video! Definitely my favorite weapon to play.
I finally defeated the Diablos urgent quest. It took me 3 or 4 tries. BTW I'm still in the preseason story....... I kinda got stuck with the Legiana urgent quest for 3 months.
I did the opposite. From Kulu LS to Kulu Dual Blades. I find it a lot faster to kill monsters with it. I remember dealing more damage to a 7* Rathalos using G6 dual blade than G7 long sword. Now I'm loving DB now.
I wouldn’t bother with the counter strike (where it holds the blade in sheath) you can do more dos when a monster is dropped by just hitting it Also the other time is with all the fire breath attacks by dragon ( it’s op in that situation) I have gold medal for long sword Silver for sword and shield Main long sword for all my sets except water then I use sword and shield
I wish we got the demon mode dash from the main games rather than the round slash that replaces the roll. Feel like it would be a lot more fluid that way
It's hard for me, because I play this way in rise bc I love the extra damage. Maybe they'll add some styles in the future so we can be flexible. That would be a breath of fresh air once we get used to all the weapons too.
I wanted DBs to be lightning fast but now the commitment that the attack animation takes feels slow compared to SNS. Yes DBs are flashy and punish + monstrous damage. But due to the commitment time attack animation it feels like playing with dual hammers.
Lmao you could have finished it with one hp. 😂 Anyways good runs for a beginner weeb. Just keep practicing your weeb breathing. P.s. limit your coffee intake. As someone whos not big on drinking coffiee iv noticed that when i drink a full cup of it it makes my body feel sore. But not when mix it to hot chocolate 1 coffee to 3 hot chocolate, and vanilla creamer 😏.
Longsword with poison is the best , dualblades now like being downgraded if no devil's dance it's just like taking a vegetable knife slashing those dragons . I'm so upset I'm a dualblade player I up grade until G9 only notice it's been downgraded so much I give it a grade c weapon for dualblades. Lbg long sword grade a bow grade s
@strangerfwable this can happen with lock on too. And using lockon you can't spirit thrust one body part and helm breaker another as easily as you can with gyro. There are also angles of attack that are impossible with lock on that are accessible to gyro users. Like 99.99% of all my kills are LS Gyro (I'm in 9* story)

It's crazy how quick Kage makes LS look then trying to play it feels like you said slow motion. Well done on keeping you fitness in check too!

@@KageOji77 I see. I just assumed hedgehog dna was involved but that makes more sense the way you've said it.

Rise is a mainline monster hunter game, it's just made by the portable team. Games that aren't mainline are Now, Stories, Explore, etc.
I agree with you, That's why I said it that way. Because people keep saying otherwise and debating it.

That thumbnail gave me “I don’t wanna play with you anymore” toy story vibes 🤣

Leaves DB because it’s weeby only to try to summon his bankai on LS😅
I'm using every weapon to get badges for all of them!
Lol, I started off maining LS, but I sucked at countering as well, so I ended up dropping the LS and maining SNS until DB came out.
Great timing on the Girros fight!

Oh man, Initial D.. i havent seen that in ages. Gonna have to find somewhere to watch em all again
Never thought I would see the day 😭🙌 been using LS as a comfort weapon in this game xD I love it!

I had high hopes for DBs when they were introduced but they felt way too slow. Like dual wielding hammers.
Interesting. That's the complete opposite experience for me.
