    Another appreciation post,
A little awhile ago i was really nothing, i got this summer part-time job where they let me experiment with power apps. I picked it up very fast, thanks to your videos and became useful to them so they decided to hire me.

    Hey Shane,
I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you! I wouldn't be where I am now without you and your videos. I started working with PowerPlatform in 2020 and stumbled across your videos. In 2022 I quit my job in the industry and became a PowerPlatform consultant. In the meantime I have risen to Solution Architect. I still watch all your videos. Thanks for everything you do for the community!

Hey Shane, great video. I would expand on the ROI of Power Platform. That's what gets executives attention - I built a solution that replaces X amount of man hours per month or per year. Years ago (pre Power Platform) I was on a team that was all about automation and they were able to say "our team is able to automate X man hours per month or year" with real results/metrics. That is huge, and makes it an easy decision. Focus on how your bringing value to the business and you're already ahead of the game!

As always 💥💥 For me, its always "Why". Why does the app exist. Being able to have the conversation with the "non-technical" people and translating that into a good app is key. If you cant communicate effectively you will be on the back foot. (Unless there is a massive team and you can sit at the back and code all day 😀). Thanks Shane

Although I did not take your classes, I was able to become a citizen developer for my organization. It probably would have been much easier if I had taken them. I have found that identifying and quantifying the value - time & dollar savings / risk reductions / quality improvements - of a change (in this case, introducing a Power Platform solution) is typically the largest challenge that people face. Lots of ideas and suggestions to help individuals on this subject.
As always, great job on your video.

Hello! Do you have any video regarding multiple users in one Powerapps patching at the same time on same column?
I am having issues with this. I developed an app, the final value is calculated by the areas (each area has a different gallery, and they patch their gallery accordingly). However, if they “Submit” their gallery as the same time as other user, it gets “Network error” because they both want to patch the same column. Also, if they do not Refresh the sharepont, when they submit, it will submit the value that they have rather than the one calculated at the end. I want to do something like “Refresh” and after refreshing, it “Patches” the final value.

I have a PowerApp solution from a class that I downloaded; however, how can I then make that available for a presentation? Where I work will not allow me to upload the solution into their environment. How can I get a personal PP account to upload this? I tried creating a company email to avoid this without any luck.

I'm about to take the PL-200 and would love to play in the power platform full time. I've had jobs where I was able to build automations to make work a little easier. But I haven't found a company yet to fully embrace the platform.
Looking for jobs, but this video really helped putting the job search in perspective. How in depth would you say a Demo app should be?
BTW, I'm a big fan!! keep up the awesome work

    • @ShanesCows
      @ShanesCows  2 месяца назад +1

Your demo app should show close to the limits of what you know and is business applicable. Think about easy stuff like adding and displaying data (make it look nice and easy to use), sending emails, creating and sending PDFs, file uploads, and even parent/child relationships are all very practical things that people like to see. If you can talk to an API that is also a wow moment. 🤩

@@ShanesCows I'd love to see ideas on maximizing space on screens. I asked CHatGPT and it lead me to an idea about setting certain items visible based on a toggle switch. So I literally was able to double my space by combining 2 screens. Each had a form on it. I set a dual gallery screen to show each form when the gallery is selected. Genius! You could title the video, double the screen space on almost any app. ;) I bet it gets cray hits.

"I dont use the fancy words" - i had one data engineer yell at me because i didnt remember what . . . i forget, alternate key? maybe? was. and then he got mad when I said the last engineer used the term 'unique identifier'. Ugg. I completely understand the concepts, but i dont always remember whatever current trendy label that concept is wearing.

    Hi Shane,
Thanks for the tips, it will totally help us how to start looking for a job in this kind of area.
Also thanks for your training videos, currently I am in the power-up program, and they helped me much with my final app and I am also sharing your videos over the related comments 😊Especially the one with the shopping cart.
And finally, totally agree with the power automate. I am not like you people, or not even level one probably, and not used many trigger & action types. (I only use the get, list, delete, update row actions) and that was enough.
    - Dynamic content looks cool while replying & approving, but when you use them in the functions how you write them changes, whereas to use single-double quotes is a headache. I was tired of watching videos, in the end, I created the easiest flow for them and saw that when I copy the formula and dynamic content, I can check the format and apply it to others.
    - Another problem with power flows is when more than 2 tables get into action, your flow is automatically adds "apply to each" s, later noticing that it is added because it may be nested in the future. But this breaks the format follow-up. (when you add dynamic content you can see from which table and which action you are getting it, but after you have added it and tried to check the format, it turns into apply to each namings. PS: If somebody knows to change the format to look like the dynamic content I will be grateful. (like below code, I can not see which table which column)
sub(items('Apply_to_each')?['Column1'], items('Apply_to_each')?['Column2']) --- If we have to live with that for now , ok I can.
    - Testing is a problem and takes much time.
    - Can we create flows like functions? (I mean these connections are already that help as a low code to handle these things. But for example, you will enter the tables in order as parameters to these functions, then will check the first table for updates, will get its primary column value, check it on the other tables 3rd column, for each of the matching rows, it will send approvals, and if accepted do a, if not b...)
    - Backing up flows is hard or there is none, or need to back up the environment fully (I see it on googling). Some videos anyone can share will be more than great.
I mixed lots of things maybe, but as a final, when a flow runs fully, that pays for everything you suffered before:)
