How do you deal with a situation whereby your reef/vein is not regular with regards to orientation? Does the Alimak mechanism have the allowance to adjust angles?
The advantage of the Alimak is that the dip can be changed. Slightly but, with curved rails and spacers, the inclination of the raise can be altered to follow the hanging wall. Installing cable bolts into the HW either on the ascent or in the production drilling phase is a real advantage of this method. One thing left out is that there needs to be a bottom cut along strike for the bottom rows of the blast to break to. Even with a modest swell factor (40%), there does not appear to be enough free space to allow production holes longer than about 2.5 to 3.0 meters long.
