    My personal experience is from towing a small cargo trailer where I sleep. There is boondocking available in the national forest outside the Elk Reserve and the Shadow Mountain, although the road is pretty rough, as well as west of Headwaters. Finally, I have been overnighting at Jenny Lake information center parking lot for RVs successfully for several weeks without the knock in the middle of the night. You can not sleep in your car. Even at Jenny Lake, I keep moving around and come to Jackson once or twice a week, where you can park on any public street till November 1.

    Jan 26th, 2020, 9:00 am CST - Jenny Lake Campground reservations went live online for the first time ever. They were completely gone for the next 6 months within 4 minutes.
    If you want to tent camp at one of the prettiest campgrounds in the NPS, be prepared. It's only going to get more competitive. It can be done though. Just be ready. It's better than arriving at 3:00 am.

    You guys are invaluable. If I can make a request, I’d love a video dedicated to kid friendly activities in GTNP and Yellowstone

    Hello 👋🏼 from Texas!!! 😊😊 Originally we were only planning a trip to Yellowstone, but after watching and saving your videos we’ve decided to stop by Grand Teton 2 night camping 🏕🙌🏼 I do have a question that I have not been able to find in your videos…… once we make reservations for camping, can we go and explore first then camp, or do we have to set camp then go out and explore? It might be a dumm question but we’ve never been camping before 😅 thank you and your wife for all this info and I’ll definitely be buying y’all’s guide for the trip 🙌🏼

      Thanks for watching!! So happy you’re going ok a cool trip. If you have a reservation, you do not need to set up camp first. You can go sightseeing and then arrive in your campground in the evening!

    Just an important point of clarification, to give credit where credit is due: it is called the John D. Rockefeller Jr. (NOT Senior) Memorial Parkway between Grand Teton and Yellowstone.
    Edit: should have said also: love your channel! Been to & camped in/around G. Teton dozens of times (live 3 hours away); great info. you're giving.

    You don’t get ANY discount for being a senior OR a disabled veteran in Yellowstone or grand Tetons. We are going in near future and have booked cabins.

      I thought you could get an access pass for free if you are disabled and discounts off campgrounds in the parks?

    I have noticed the Grand Teton campgrounds is more expensive than Yellowstone National Park campgrounds. Which I thought was odd.

    • @WereintheRockies
      @WereintheRockies  2 года назад

      Yes, I thought it a little odd as well, but I guess everything is more expensive in Jackson Hole. Lol

    I am not sure we can stay in the Teton National Park because we have a 45 ft RV and pulling a Jeep. I wanted to stay in Colter Bay RV park but I don't think we can fit. :-(

      @WereintheRockies  Год назад +1

      A couple sites accept up to 45 ft RV. See the national park's website: www.nps.gov/grte/planyourvisit/camping.htm

    I will be camping at the Headwaters tent site, however I use my minivan as a camper so don’t plan on bringing tent. Do you think this will be a problem?

    • @WereintheRockies

      No it should be an issue

      @loeyheart50 2 года назад

      Should? So I need a tent? Or shouldn’t. Thanks for the help and for all the valuable info!

    • @WereintheRockies
      @WereintheRockies  2 года назад +1

      @@loeyheart50 no, you don’t need a tent. You’re not required to sleep in a tent. You can sleep in your minivan as long as you have an actual campsite

    If y?ou have a van or rv do you have to use the bear boxes?

    • @WereintheRockies
      @WereintheRockies  2 года назад +1

      It would be safest to put all food in the bear boxes. You do not want to sleep in the same place your food is stored.

    • @johnmedina5399
      @johnmedina5399 Год назад

      Yes unless you want your window smashed by a bear.

    Is it safe to camp in a tent in Grand Teton National park?

    • @WereintheRockies
      @WereintheRockies  Год назад +1

      There is always a chance that something could go awry but thousands of people camp in Grand Teton each year and they are safe. Make sure to keep all food in the bear boxes to help keep yourself and other campers safe.
