Oh thank you Roxana and for joining me today 🥰 hope you’re doing well. Will you be doing a garden tour soon, I’d love to see? I always remember how funny your husband’s garden tour was 😆😆🥰
Oh thank you AJ, it’s the best time of year for my garden, it kind of starts languishing in the summer heat. Makes all that bulb planting worthwhile. I should watch this video in October when I’m complaining about planting more tulip bulbs. Did you see the front garden too - our bulb collab 😊 hope you’re ok 🥰

Hello Teresa and thank you so much 🙏 oh yes, you must get brunnera, now is the perfect time for it, so lovely. Definitely one of my favourites. I’m so glad I planted all the tulips in October, even though I hated every minute 😆😆 I think I have another video of yours I haven’t yet seen so that’s a must for this evening 🥰
Thank you for sharing your garden in April. I remember you planting the bulbs Janette. All looks beautiful. Shame out your bunting I loved that in Carnival Corner. Those pinky purple tulips Richard choose look good with your front door- good choice! 😊😊😊.
Hi Sue, I loved my bunting too 😊 it made me smile. I’ll have to think of something different but as yet I don’t have any ideas. And I must remember this October how worthwhile the bulb planting is, I never want to do it when it’s cold but I’m always so pleased when they come up in Spring. I like Richard’s front garden choices too. Hope you’re having a great week 🥰
Hi Janette. It’s a delight to take a break from the blast of cold we r getting before the warmth comes back! The front garden looks amazing as well as everything in ur cozy n colorful garden! U have just the right amount of trees to add interest. My neighbor said every other year the apples r produced on the tree! I have not looked into it so I’m not sure!🤷♀️. I like the look of ur flamingo’s dotted in ur garden as well! Now take time to relax n enjoy it all!💕🥂🥰
Aha Mary that’s interesting what your neighbour said. I’ve never had apple trees so no idea!! It’s been cold and windy here today too, not a day for gardening today 🥰
Hi! Your garden is so pretty! The front is also, I love the dark color of the tulips, they really stand out. Very windy here today so I didn't get to stay out very long. Love all your tulips!
Hello Peggy, ooh it’s been windy and cold here today too. Not nice for gardening today. I like those dark tulips Richard picked too, so pretty. Hope you’re doing ok 🥰
Hello Jeanette your garden is Lovely. Your garden design is so calming. My favorite parts of my day in the garden is around 630am and late at night. I'd love to see how your garden looks at night or dusk just as the garden lights come on.
Oh thank you so much C Dixon, they’re my favourite times too! I have tried filming with the lights on but it never comes out very well. The lights are nice too, maybe I will try again!! Hope you’re ok and thanks again 😊
Hi Janette Beautiful april vlog. You have so many different plants. They say apricots do well in gardens now. So good for you too. My garden centre has no brunneras. Maybe i should look again in spring. Loved carnival corner. You always interest us with a bit of fun😄🐣🍀🌷💕
Good morning Sharon, an Apricot? That’s a lovely idea!! I might look for one and replace my apple by the fountain? Or even my Fatsia if it’s not happy any more. I hope you can find some brunnera, such amazing plants for shade. Hope you have a wonderful day 💕
Your garden is looking so nice Janette but I don't know how you get your tongue around those long plant names! So pleased that the Chinese Plumbago has new growth as I always admire that in your garden tours. Like you, I think the Minnow daffodils are so pretty.
Hi there Wendy 😊 I try and learn all the names, some stick in my mind easier than others though. I’m glad to see the Plumbago sprout again because I was beginning to wonder, have I killed that one too! 😆 hope you’re doing ok 👍🥰
Beautiful!!!! Your spring garden is so lovely! The beauty of a garden is the continual change, they are never frozen in time. Can't wait for the alliums!
Hello Tamara 🥰 thank you for such a lovely comment 💕 you’re so right about the continual change, that’s what keeps our gardens exciting. I can’t wait for the alliums too 🎉🎉🎉
Hello Cathy and I’m loving my little cherry, it’s a Stella Cherry. I planted it in spring 2021 and then I moved it to where it is now autumn 2021. And then last spring I had cherries do it only took 1 year. You’ll love yours 🥰
Oh I agree Andrew, last year I gave in and I cut my daffodils down to about 5 inches high and to be honest it didn’t seem to do them any harm so I think I will do that again this year, can’t stand the messy look otherwise 😆🥰
Hi Janette, your gardens looks so colourful and pretty. I love to see all the plants waking up in spring. Looking forward to making up some hanging baskets and summer pots. Have a lovely day 😊 x
Hi there Lou, thank you 😊 always looks so colourful with the tulips and daffodils. I didn’t get round to doing my hanging baskets and pots last year, but I think it’s really worth it so I’ll try and do them this year. Hope you’re doing well 🥰
Wow Janette, your garden is looking amazing so early in the gardening season. I have a cherry cola heuchera and it just wasn't growing, it was tiny!! I dug it up this morning and have split it, fingers crossed I'll get a couple of plants from it!! xx
Hello Debbie and that’s encouraging about your Heuchera. Yes, I’m going to divide some of my bigger ones, I just love them so much for their colour, as you know. Such a wonderful time of year 🎉🎉🎉
Hi Janette, I'm back from my holiday in Alvor we had lovely sunny weather. We did visit Ferragudo, via the Portimao water taxi, we had a great lunch at the Port Arade restaurant close to the restaurant you told me about. I so miss the warm sun there! So cold here at the moment. Your garden with all those tulips and daffodils look fabulous, the colours and shapes are lovely...well done. Like you I've lost a few plants I'm slowly replacing them, in fact I just potted four perennial plants from Farmer Gracy...so thanks for telling me. The followed the instructions that came with them suggested to soak for a few hours then pot up until for a few weeks then plant out. I lost my Bay tree sadly, you mentioned others had too, I'm thinking as it was in a pot the cold affected it more compared with those in a border, more protection maybe? Thank you for sharing your garden once again I enjoyed the tour! Now on to your latest clip next so more from me shortly...lol. S Keep on filming.
Hello Stephen and welcome home! I’m so pleased you had a great time. I know Porte Arade, had quite a few lunches and dinners there as we’ve stayed in Ferragudo 3 times now. It’s been very cold and rainy here so you haven’t missed anything. And glad you’ve found Farmer Gracy and tried them out. Sorry about your bay tree, as I said in my video I don’t know what I’ve done to keep mine, I’m just very pleased, but maybe you’re right and they’re more susceptible to the cold when they’re in pots. Such a shame, it puts you off trying the same plant again doesn’t it? Well, you are back in time for a couple of Bank Holidays next 2 Mondays which is lovely so hopefully the weather will warm up a bit so we can enjoy our gardens 🥰💕
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener it's amazing we have enjoyed lunches at the Porte Arade! It was meant to be? The jury is out on replacing my Bay tree, I like them we will see. Just discovered a hidden away garden centre close to where I live, called there this morning and the choice and amount of plants etc is fantastic. I'm holding back on doing my hanging baskets due to the weather and the fact we go away to Spain first week in June. So rather than risk them drying out I may wait until we return home. Especially now I know I have a good source of plants close by. Right out to clear a bedding border for my summer plants. Take care. S
Yes, in all the world we have dined at the same place 😃👍 how wonderful you’ve found a great new plant place!! That’s exciting, you’d better start saving up 😆 I know it’s tempting to do your baskets now but if it were me I’d wait until I got home from Spain I think, there’ll still be tons of time (and summer) when you get back. That’s the only downside of going on holiday, we end up worrying about our gardens 😊 but I do like it when you come back and really notice all the growth. When we look every day we don’t do we? I’m looking forward to the long Bank Holiday weekend so I hope the weather improves a bit. Happy Friday 💕
Hi Janette, it looks like your garden is off to a good start this year. I think daffodils might be my favorite flower. Don't forget to deadhead them when the flowers fade so they don't try to make seeds. We had our 1st 90° day on Friday and they're predicting snow flurries on Wednesday. That's crazy!!!
Hello there, yes I still deadhead but I didn’t realise they make seeds if you don’t!! Goodness me your weather is all over the place! Ours hasn’t really warmed up much yet, although we haven’t had a frost in a while. Hope you’re doing ok though 🥰
I love that Bay tree! And thanks for the Easter series! I got a lot done in the garden, too, even though I only work one day a week outside of our home. I guess it’s just mindset. And I have two weeks off for Easter and Spring Break. But I need to recover from all the work I got done last week.💗 Your garden is already so lovely! Some of my spring flowers are done blooming and some never bloomed.
Hello Dawn and thank you! I love that bay tree too, and it’s flowered!! Gardening is hard work! I often sit in the evenings thinking about what I want to do, but then you go out to do it and get exhausted 😆 I think perhaps we need staff 😆 but also you have to do it when you’re in the mood, it’s no fun when you’re tired. I only actually garden once a week but now it’s getting lighter I might do a little bit here and there when I get home from work. It’s all fun though isn’t it? 🥰
Hi Janette. Thanks for a lovely video ❤. So relaxing, I do look forward to Tuesdays. Your garden is so pretty. When you showed us the fallen bunting, I remembered your leaf mould. Have you looked at it since filling up bags and putting them behind? I'm curious 😅. It's so cold outside today but not raining, so I'm strimming the paths around my beds. I always feel bad about that because of the daisies and dandelions, which look so pretty and are feeding all the flying people in the garden. But it's a mess, so it has to be done. Can't wait to see your fountain rejuvenated, oh, and I'm so happy for your hostas 😃 they give me hope of having my very own one of these days 😅. Take care 🙋♀️
Hello Kim and thank you for looking forward to Tuesdays 😊💕💕 I actually looked at my leaf mould at the weekend. I managed to fill 2 big bags in the end, but I probably need to water it down again and give it a turn. It’s such a good ‘Out of the way’ spot for the bags but so much so that I really do forget about it. I’m so pleased about the hostas too, as I said I did buy some gel repellent too just to be doubly safe and I’m so encouraged by them. So yes, you have to give them a go in pots now, I was doubtful because I didn’t think it would make the slightest bit of difference as we all know snails can climb, but I’m so pleased. Might get some more now!! Have a lovely week 🥰
Lovely, front and back, the tulips are wonderful. I planted up a huge container that I'd moved a rose to a new garden, the tulips were duds, some bloomed all the way down in the foliage, like they didn't have a stem, so disappointing. Maybe the bunting string will last longer under the eves of the cabin.? Ask Richard for me, when he's going to get around to painting the fountain 🤔😊
Hi there Wende, that’s so disappointing about your tulips, you just never know how they’re going to perform do you? I mentioned my idea of putting the bunting under the eaves of the cabin … I shouldn’t have, I should have just done it. He hates my bunting!! He says no. He has no taste does he 😆😆 I will give him your message about the fountain, but actually it’s me who needs to get on and order the textured paint, then he might get round to doing it 😊 hope you’re ok and thanks always for your lovely messages 🥰
Hello Sandra!! I don’t think I will be allowed 😊😆 I’m so patriotic though, I’ve bought myself a King Charles Coronation rose 🌹🇬🇧👑 hope you’re having a fabulous weekend!!
Good morning MJ and thank you so much. I must play myself this video in October to remind myself how worthwhile it is to plant more tulips (because I just pull them out, they never do well for a second year and it saves me having to wait for the leaves to fade). That’s sad about yours in pots though, so disappointing. Don’t stop planting them though, mine were just cheap ones from B&Q the hardware store, much cheaper than last year from Farmer Gracy. Wishing you a great day 🥰
Oh No ... THANK YOU ...!!! .... for this video .... how peaceful to set here with my first cup of coffee and get to enjoy sooo much Awesome color and start my day .... !!! .... I am wondering about your bulbs ..... how about cutting the leaves back to about 2 inches they will still be able to collect the sun that they need .... and your garden will look much neater ..... I have done that in the past and as I remember it didn't seem to make any difference .... Just a thought ..... !!!
Good morning my friend and glad to have started your day with a smile 😊 funny, I was just answering another comment here and said last year I did cut the foliage down to about 5 inches and it doesn’t seem to have made any difference this year, so yes, I’ll definitely do that again. How are your trees doing? 🥰🥰
Hello Pauline and thank you so much. I’ve just read Richard your comment and he says to tell you … it’s all in the preparation 😆😆 but truth is I need to order the textured paint, so I’ll get on and do that. Also, he’s just said the weather has to be nice so he can spray it outside. Always an excuse! 😆🥰
Good morning Helen, I’ve had a few suggestions for Ajuga so I must try and find some! Thank you. Black Scallop sounds interesting!! Hope you have a lovely day 🥰
Hi there Chris and thank you so much. I cut off the flowers once they’ve finished, but then we are supposed to leave all the leaves until they kind of go yellow and wilt. I must admit last year I cut my daffodil leaves to about 5 inches high which made them look a bit neater, and it doesn’t look like it did them any harm. I can’t beat those flipped over leaves, and I pull my tulips right out anyway as they never flower well for me 2nd year 🥰
Hi there, the one I bought is called “Slugs Be Gone” by Doff and it’s definitely organic. I didn’t know which to get, there weee so many. I only put it on the top, on the stones, in a complete circle, and it says that it doesn’t matter if it rains. I’m so pleased it has worked 🤞👍🥰
Such wonderful, cheerful color in your garden. 🩷🤍💜💛🧡❤️ I especially love all your heucheras and the Red Robin and Pink Crispy photonias. Last week, I immediately did a search for the pink one but, alas, it’s not hardy in my zone 6 garden. ☹️ I hope you will do a video when you divide your heucheras. Regarding the daffodils, (yours are stunning), I learned from Dr. Alan Armitage (well known horticulturist, author, speaker) that you actually can cut the foliage back a bit, to about +/-10” (about 25cm). I’m trying that for the first time this year; so far, so good. As the flowers faded, I just grabbed the entire clump and cut it back; no need to remove the flowers individually as I have always rather painstakingly done. No such time-saver for the tulips, I’m afraid. So sorry about your banner; I loved everything about it! Banners are one of my favorite ways to decorate, no matter the season.
Hello JC, thank you so much - you are always so encouraging. Yes I can do a video about the Heucheras, definitely on my list. What a shame you can’t grow Photinias though, the Red Robins are so common here, they’re what you’d probably call parking lot plants, they’re everywhere. I did actually cut my daffodils down like you said last year because I couldn’t bear the leaves any more, and I think I did it about 5 or 6 inches high and it doesn’t look like it made any difference. I just pull the tulips out because they never grow very well in years 2+ and I quite like picking different colours each year. It’s still pretty cold here and very windy today. Hope you’re ok 🥰 oh yes, shame about the bunting, I loved it too 😊
Love it. Love it. Love it. So colourful. A lovely show. Get the kettle on and just sit and enjoy your garden.
Good morning Penny, thank you!! Yes, must just sit and have a cup of tea ☕️😆🥰

Oh my, don't tell him what I said, it'll turn into an opportunity to turn it on you.
😆😆😆
Your garden is looking lovely Janette, how about replacing your bunting with red, white and blue ones for the coronation 💙xx
Hello Sandra!! I don’t think I will be allowed 😊😆 I’m so patriotic though, I’ve bought myself a King Charles Coronation rose 🌹🇬🇧👑 hope you’re having a fabulous weekend!!
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener ooh nice, a rose is a great idea 💙
Lol them 🦩🦩😂😂😂
I think you misspelt that James and meant love them 🦩🦩? 😆
Everything looks lovely Janette!! This year I planted my bulbs in pots...didn't turn out good it must of been bad quality😢have a good week.❤
Hi. Love the colours. The mix of tulips really works. I notice the fountain hasn't been painted, as yet, 😮...do we have a date for that happening 🤔? 😊
😊
Outside the door. Have you considered Ajuga? Black scallop has very dark leaves with blue flowers in spring.
Good morning Helen, I’ve had a few suggestions for Ajuga so I must try and find some! Thank you. Black Scallop sounds interesting!! Hope you have a lovely day 🥰
Beautiful garden Jeanette as always. Lovely start to the day listening to your calming voice 😊😊
Oh thank you Bilbinder that’s so lovely of you - not sure Richard would agree that I have a calm voice 😆😊 have a lovely day 🥰🥰

Hi Jannette your garden looks beautiful, how long do the daffodils and tulips need to be left before cutting back ?
Hi there Chris and thank you so much. I cut off the flowers once they’ve finished, but then we are supposed to leave all the leaves until they kind of go yellow and wilt. I must admit last year I cut my daffodil leaves to about 5 inches high which made them look a bit neater, and it doesn’t look like it did them any harm. I can’t beat those flipped over leaves, and I pull my tulips right out anyway as they never flower well for me 2nd year 🥰
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener Thanks Janette
I do like the idea of an organic slug repellent gel. Do you smear it on the pot so snails can’t climb up it ? What make did you buy ?
Hi there, the one I bought is called “Slugs Be Gone” by Doff and it’s definitely organic. I didn’t know which to get, there weee so many. I only put it on the top, on the stones, in a complete circle, and it says that it doesn’t matter if it rains. I’m so pleased it has worked 🤞👍🥰
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener oh I see I assumed it went in a circle round the pot but either way I will give it a try.
👍😊
Hope you’re ok 🥰 oh yes, shame about the bunting, I loved it too 😊
Nature Hills has a Pink Marble Photinia, hardy in zone 6, it's very pretty. (I'm in the US)
I’m going to have a look at that Peggy 🥰

Oh, Peggy, thank you! I’ll check it out.

Oh I think so Julie, and thank you so much. And my hostas in your bottomless pots - what a great idea you gave me 👍🥰
