"Poucha Dass" is one of François Rabbath's most successful and most played pieces. Inspired by Ravi Shankar's sitar playing and literally imitating the sound of the sitar as well as the Indian raga.
I have had it in my repertoire for a long time and performed it many times over the years, but had never any recording out.
This was recent spontaneous performance during the masterclass at Hoover Middle School in San Francisco, which was part of The Winter Bass Bash Week in March 2023.
I grabbed one of school's basses and a borrowed bow and off I was!
I am very happy that Richard Duke, Bass Bash's artistic director has captured this special moment!
