Thank you for the P6 review. It's the first time that I have heard mention of comparisons between P6 against P3 and P8 performance differences in sound quality.
Yep, what you said. I bought a new P6 a month ago and absolutely love it. Power the P6 with a Marantz 6015 and because lack of space means small speakers. I went for a Klipsch reference cinema. The P6 sounds exactly as you described it. Friends have described it like sitting directly in front of a live band. Very pleased and your review back it up.
Enjoyable video. Today I ordered a P3 with Exact cartridge. I really didn't want to spend even more money on a P6 even though the prices are a good deal less here in the UK. It is so easy to get drawn into buying the next one up when watching nice videos like yours! I have to draw a line somewhere however tempting it is to change the order!!
Thank you for your time, making this review. I'm browsing Record players and love the fact that you reviewed the P6 with an modest amplifier. So its all about the P6. Love it! 🙏
This is a truly excellent review Rohit, one that I had been waiting for. I felt that your review of the P3 was very good but then you jumped to the P8. This left me wondering if the P6 had anything worthwhile to offer. For me the best part was when you compared an upgraded P3 with Ania moving coil to a stock P6 with Exact moving magnet cartridge - that the P6/Exact even surpassed the performance of the upgraded P3. This confirms the huge part that the plinth material of the turntable plays. This is the Rega philosophy - the plinth material affects the tonearm performance, and the tonearm limits the cartridge capability. Many people don’t know this and the they just rush to change the cartridge on the lower Rega models. I saw a RUclips video review that used an Ania moving coil cartridge on a P1;(or P2 I can’t recall which one of the two lowest models) and the reviewer commented on how flat and muddy the sound was. Your video review of the P6 validates the Rega philosophy. I also hope you can make another review of the P6 with other non-Rega cartridges to see if the P6 will be up to par.
This might upset you but the new Rega 3 comes with a free upgrade to the Exact 2. Evidently they ran out of the Elys 2 and just decided to give a huge upgrade for nothing. Insane.
After watching your excellent review on the p6 with exact cartridge it confirmed to me just how good my set up is that consists of a p6/exact 2 And ive recently purchased the Hexmat eclipse platter mat (expensive but worth 👌 every penny) bringing out more detail and clarity due to it floating off the platter reducing further resonance. Combined with my rega auria phono roksan blak amplifier and fyne audio 500sp speakers I am more than happy . I thank you for all your video reviews you are extremely articulate and know your kraft in the way you present your reviews. I look forward to many more in the future. Kind regards Paul roberts cheadle United Kingdom.
Thanks for reviewing this turntable. Sitting in the middle of the range I don’t think it gets enough consideration from reviewers. I have the P6 with Hana SL cartridge, and that’s a very satisfying combination.
Thanks for your detailed review. I have a Planar 25 and was contemplating an upgrade. The dealer who is considered a friend recommended just changing to a moving coil cartridge so picking it up tomorrow. If the improvement isn’t noticeable I think the 6 will be my next step. Thanks again for your insight.🍁
Hey getting to this a bit late, sorry. I highly recommend upgrading table such as P3 +elys or P6+exact first to see sonic improvements. Yes, an MC cartridge will improve sonics too, but a better table and tonearm will ensure your cartridge is measuring the information in grooves the best it can. What cartridge where you using on the P25?
Using a new Dynavector 10x5 high output moving coil. Really liking the sound. My Rega 25 was a special anniversary model that had upgraded tone arm and cables. For now content with this setup but next upgrade will be the P6 and reinstalled Dynavector and then speakers (currently Totem Staff). Spinning a new Jack Johnson ‘Meet the Moonlight’ nice recording and easy to listen to. Cheers and Thanks for your great reviews!
Hi! Thank you so much for your video review. I have been on the fence between upgrading my Pro-ject Debut Carbon to a P6 or P8. In light of your detailed review and I think I am now leaning toward the P6 since, as you suggested, I may not be able to appreciate a P8 due to some limitations of my system.
Thank you for this excellent review! I wonder if you have any opinions on how this P6 compares to the Pioneer Plx-1000 you reviewed earlier (another stellar review)? I've had a lower grade Rega for a while myself but have been quite frustrated with it's transient related fluttering, like louder piano notes just sounding out of tune really. This I'm assuming is coming from the platter slowing down due to the force of the needle on the record. This has led me to consider whether to move up in the Rega hierarchy or maybe try a direct drive such as the Pioneer instead...
I honestly believe IMHO that the P6 is miles ahead of the PLX1000. Pianos sound like the real thing on a P6. The PLX 1000 is sweet table dont get me wrong, but P6 + Exact excels in tonal realism as compared to the Pioneer.
I am considering three turntables, and would love your thoughts. Due to budget limitations, will likely have to be used…Rega RP8, Rega P6 or VPI Traveler. I have found specific tables for the RP8 (with Sumiko Blue Point Special EVO) and VPI (with Ortofon 2M Blue), and am looking at a couple options for the P6. Really enjoy your reviews and share your tastes in music and sound. Thank you for any thoughts or opinions you’d care to share.
Long term I've come to prefer the Rega's presentation that conveys the immediacy and intimacy in the recordings over similarly priced VPI. If going used, I would recommend a well looked after and tuned LP12 with Itokk tonearm and a good MC as well. But if you want a set it and forget it table, IMHO it's a P6 with a nice MC.
Thank you for this review. Very timely for me as I am considering purchasing a P6. Next decision, which cartridge to install on the P6? I'll check out your video on the comparison between the Exact MM and the Ania MC to help me decide. Thanks again.
Very good review. I have owned this Turntable since around May 2020, ANIA PRO and a Jasmine 2.5 phono amp and a swagman Electronic motor (upgraded from P3-24 with Nagaoka 100) Apart from a good tonal balance the main asset for me was the increase in details and separation. Sounds I never knew existed are now glaring out. I subsequently upgraded the tonearm to a R3000 however this has made no difference to the sound, likely a bottleneck somewhere... Highly recommended as the stock standard version however I would definitely go for the ANIA PRO, otherwise with any lower cart - the model 8 version would be a better purchase.
I have an exact 2 cartridge pre-fitted on my brand new p6 that I just bought for my ninteen birtday. I'm wondering which catridge beetween the Ania or the Ania pro is more worth the money ( or if I should stick to the exact) once my stylus is worn of.
@@analogholic_reviews Thanks for answering I’m using a Rega Fono MM mk5 with it and Sonos speakers because of lack of space but I’ll upgrade the day I’ll have my own studio or appartement.
@@Jujuboy0 the P6 + exact combo will serve you well even after you get your speaker and amp upgrades. In fact, you will appreciate the tone and resolution the P6-exact offers a lot more!
Great channel. Thanks! I'm looking for an amp for the P6 with Exact. Thinking about the Rega Elex Mk4. Thoughts on other similar priced amp that is musical but has good detail and soundstage?
hello, I just bought the REGA 6 and I am unable to get the stylus to touch the record !!. There is no green or any tabs on the counter weight. I have followed the exact instructions from quite a few video and I just can't get the stylus in 2.5 mil off the record. The tone arm lever does not drop down completely as well .. I am very confused as to could cause this as the tonearm is already comes with the already fitted Exact cartridge !! cheers
How yo compare the stock p6 with p3 tuned? Wit platter, sub platter, etc... How are your opinión matching with sumiko cartridge!?? Thanks for your videos!!
I had the P3 upgraded to neo PSU, alum subplatter. I sold it before doing a review on the upgrades. But I like the P6 better than the P3-upgraded. The tancast plinth and the method of attaching the main bearing the plinth, takes it to a another level and the effect is immediate. Sorry, I have no experience with sumiko carts.
@@analogholic_reviews thanks bro, for your explicit answer!!! I have polish the sping with jewel paste and apply liqui moly and the result is so so awesome!!!
I wonder how the P6 would be with those same upgrades (alum sub platter with upgraded bearing, Delrin platter and low hanging weight). I am considering this path as my new reference 🤓. Thank you for your wonderful videos and comparisons, keep up the great work!
Can we also.see reviews of some other turntables cos there is also Denon dp400 etc Perhaps change up the cartridges so see if u can save us some bucks. Denon with a good cartridge may or may not match Rega?
But the question is... Is it much better then the P3 with exact?? Or just slightly? And does the PSU makes much difference in sound qulity? Can't seem to find really consensus over it. Cheers in advance for all the replies.
I hope someone who has heard both with the exact and PSU can chime in here. While I have not heard the P3 with exact, I personally think that the unique to P6 engineering further mass optimizes and stiffens the table and bring about a not-so-subtle sonic improvement. Like the tancast plinth, different float glass, aluminum sub-platter, larger aluminum precision machined collar that couples the motor to plinth (contributes to increased stiffness), different method of coupling the brace to the tonearm and bearing like the higher P8, etc. Makes for a noticeably quieter noise floor. I found out after making the video that the P6 brought out more magic from my Koetsu Black than the P3 with PSU could. That being said, the P3/Koetsu combo was very satisfying as well. For the less obsessive of us, the P3 will just do. Time to simply enjoy some tunes!

Good review But I think in order to compare Rega p6 to the thorens td309 (body to body) you must use the same arm and the same cartridge (preferred as new), otherwise the comparison is useless (to much variables that can influence the total sound.
