A quick few things: Enemies in the beginning are Termagants, Genestealers would look much more humanlike. Timewise it is probably during Dark Imperium/Indomitus Crusade, because of the pattern of power armour. The Service Studs are golden, so signify 100 years of service each.
Not just has he NOT fallen, he even was turned Primaris. A "Second Awakening" i think they call it. Which is risky, there is a chance you die attempting to upgrade.

I saw some good trailers but this was the highlight of the show for me. Honestly stunned they made this, and apparently this developer has some serious chops to their fps background so that's exciting too.
As far as the guardsmans reaction and not contributing, you also have to consider the fact that these marines are divine figures to them too, the emperor's angels of death. It would be like a devout christian soldier seeing the archangel gabriel descend from the heavens to lop some heads off with a flaming greadsword.
The only time a Regular Guardsmen has the chance to see a space marine is if shit is about to go down in that case your fucked so u may wanna bring some extra ammo a knife and maybe make sure your lasGun is cleaned and fixed before your next deployment to the dront
9:53 the silver studs are 50 years gold are 100 so since titus has 2 more gold ones this takes place 200 years after the first game, which is pretty wild when you think about it and its cool that he looks older.
So if you look back, you'll notice that the Guard are shooting towards their own retreating soldiers before the one with the Vox-caster takes cover. This is why it looks like the shots are going both ways, when in reality there's only one real direction of lasgun fire. It should also be noted that Genestealer Cultists will use any military hardware they can get their hands on, because they are still human; often heavily mutated, but still human. So that's the other explanation; Cultists with lasguns. We don't see any present so we'll just assume that this is a pure Tyranid force and it's just confusing cinematography, but Genestealers would be a valid explanation nonetheless.
The problem with trying to figure out the direction of fire with lasguns is that it's a laser beam. Unless you're in orbital combat, you won't see the beam travel between the weapon and its target, you just see a line of light connecting them. But yeah, it almost does look like there's lasfire both ways. Maybe a cult supporting the main combat bioforms. For once, though, I'd like to see a setting where instead of pew pews or a searing sound, a lasgun sounds like they're described: a crack, as if you're breaking a stick.
Crack sound us the most correct one, in my opinion, because you are literally searing through the planet's air with a superheaten beam of "plasma-like cutter"... And the air particles hit by the laser itself are literally exploding and many chemical and physical violent interactions are taking place the very moment the light beam erupts from the gun, travels in the air and then reaches the target... So...
The gold studs are 100 years each, he had 2 in the other game so it's been around 200 years. He is also a Primaris Marine, so this is after Girlyman has woken up.
I’m super excited about this. I can’t tell if Captain Titus’s service studs are gold or silver, silver is worth 50 years and gold is a century. Also I think based on the color of the Nids, we’re fight Hive Fleet Leviathan and probably a genestealer cult associated with them maybe some brood brothers.
Tyranids are a great choice to replace the orcs from part one. A swarm of enemies charging at you brings back the strength of the gamepay loop from the first game - the smooth transition from ranged to melee. I didn't expect to experience another space marine game after ten years. I'm kind of hyped. At the Game Awards Tim Willits was on stage to present the game. He was previously at ID Software (Doom, Quake) and they know how to make games. I'm cautiously optimistic...
@@Cthulhuwarlord the trailer showed a tiny amount of gameplay without the hud enabled, it looks pretty damn solid, cant speak for performance of course but it looks very similar to the first game
It's 200 years later. Every golden stub is 100 years if I recall correctly. Also, you may notice that Titus is a lieutenant now (the marking on the helmet), meaning he's been demoted.
I have a feeling he served the Inquisitor as a bodyguard until he most likely died and then he rejoined the Chapter, but his position was filled so he’s serving under someone till they die and he takes the rank back. After reading Eisenhorn I could see an Inquistor doing everything they can to have a space marine in their entourage.
It might well be that they are retconning a bit of his story to make Titus a part of the main storyline of WH40k. Originally it was more an alternate universe, but to make him a Primaris means he is more likely to be part of the universe we all know. As we know Cato Sicarius is the Captain of the 2nd Company, not Titus. So it might not be a demotion.. but more a rewrite. I find it odd that a Captain would be deployed like that to begin with given their immense value. It makes more sense to me a Lieutenant carrying out an order directly by their Captain. Pure speculation on my part though and we will see what happens..
@@Catonzo Sicarius isn't the captain of the 2nd anymore either, he's the leader of the Victrix Guard. Also for some reason I kept thinking Titus was in the 4th not the 2nd.
If this is in the age of Guilliman's return, maybe Titus was released on his personal orders. Being as logical and administrative as he is, he wouldn't let a warp resistant and possibly immune warrior, especially of his own gene seed, remain locked up under what appear to be false charges. Also, I really hope they increase the scale of this game by 10000x over the last one. Seeing it even be open world or semi-open world would be kind of cool. Imagine travelling across a whole world under siege by Tyrannid invasion; gathering Imperial Guard units, reuniting divided Astartes, capturing and securing strongholds and bases, rescuing nobles and administrators, etc... Or, going off the resource-short theory you put forward, maybe we're in a cut off part of space, using our authority as a captain or possibly even higher-ranking member of an Ultramarine chapter to take command of a whole small region of space as we fight to maintain control and reconnect to the Imperium at large.
This is definitely after Guilliman has been revived because Titus is a primaris marine. The first marine to survive going from first born and into primaris was Marneus Calgar after Guilliman had returned.
The Tyrannids that's attacking this planet is Hive fleet leviathan, one of the largest and most recent Hive fleet that's threatening the Imperium. The red stripe on his helmet means Titus is now demoted to lieutenant and is crossed the Rubicon Primaris and is now a Primaris space marine The guardsmen in this are cadians
It would be cool if they were Cadian, and they're definitely using Cadian pattern kit, but is there something in the trailer that positively identifies them as a Cadian unit (like a unit insignia)? As the "standard bearers" of the Imperial Guard, a lot of units copy their look and equipment. I ask mainly because the Primaris armor puts this at least in the Dark Imperium period, and the 'nids being from Leviathan means this is almost certainly either Segmentum Tempestus or Ultima. Those are both on the other side of the galaxy from Cadia, which by this time will have fallen *after* recalling most of its regiments to defend the Cadian Gate.
@@reasonableastartes the purple/violet eyes are a dead giveaway. The warp energies from the Eye of Terror caused every child on Cadia to be born with purple eyes.
1:18 totally right, all they need to do is just update some of the animations, add in the new primaris weapon models, new levels and it will actually be a hit; its stupid how easy of a layup of a game this could be. And the benefit to a game like this is if you nail designing the bones, you can add in untold new scenarios where you play as other marines during other cool stories. Like think of how cool it would be to play as dante during the devastation of baal, or you could even add in librarian powers into the mix for expansions. If they just port the og game over with new graphics this could be such a good game.
In the ocean of darkness that is the cesspool of overhyped and severely underdelivered - and later abandoned - games, I sure hope this one stands out as a beacon of light. If nothing else, at least the trailer is bloody amazing, as well as the completely unexpected gameplay preview which looks like a definite upgrade in visuals and scale of the carnage.
Considering the original Space Marine had a rating of M, I think the lack of gore had more to do with technical limitations of the consoles of the time, rather than desire to keep the rating down.
Not only is it insane that Titus is back (i honestly thought he might have been killed by the inquisition), but he has been turned into a Primaris marine. I’m sooooo looking forward to this!
I have a feeling that he served as that Inquistors personal bodyguard for awhile and then returned to the Ultramarines after the Inquisitor died (read Eisenhorn, they die quite frequently). The one who’s fate I really want to know about is Leandros who went tattling to the Inquisition instead of the chapters chaplains which could have caused severe scrutiny to the chapter and put their legacy and reputation at risk. As a reference to TTS I would like to think that Marneus gave him a good fisting with his powerfists, both of them at the same time, elbow deep.
Genestealers likely wont be the primary enemy, as none was shown in the intro (we did se gaunts and Warriors). It is more likely that the enemies will be a mix of "normal" tyranid organisms, during a planetary invasion... a bit of a shame we are going to miss out on the great humor, provided by the Orks, in the first game.
There's definitely gotta be chaos in this game I believe. Titus and his "special" relationship to the warp and chaos, and how the inquisition plan to use his "gift" gonna be a part in this game and maybe in spacemarines 3. See, as an extension of the previous story, they already put in the black Templar chains in his arms, hinting his time with the black Templars and the inquisition. Games workshop gave him the primaris marine upgrades and they are trying to integrate lieutenant Titus (who was a nobody as far as the canon lore was concerned) into the official 40k canon lore. At this point in time, this guy has SERIOUS backstory and potential Titus and the spacemarines series are here to stay and shine in the 40k universe.
I really liked that you said my thoughts on so often its Ultramarines all the time but i think it does make sense given its the second game with the same character. Since he is a Ultramarine it makes sense to keep them. Also i really would love to see more chapters xD
Judging by the chain in his arm, Titus served some time in the deathwatch after the inquisition got him, that would have been the perfect oportunity to have a lot of variety, since they have marines from pretty much every chapter there. Hell, we might even have some flashback missions or a dlc to give some details about that period.
Ya I know it's been memed to death, but the problem it that the jokes are still accurate. The ultra bois have been so spread out and watered-down they've become parodies of themselves. Everywhere and anywhere with 9nly the barest trappings of the Roman ascetic that they used o be famous for. This and they are the only ones getting any meaningful and regular love in the whole setting is just WOW
There were only lasbolts coming from the guardsmen's direction. It's just that in the first scenes of the battle the Vox operator was falling back and facing his own side's line.
I like to think the conversation leading to this went something like: *Inquisitor:* "The good news is, you're being released. The bad news is, that's because fighting Daemons in warp-infested areas isn't considered a big deal anymore."
The most likley reason the guardsmen arent involved in the fighting is that as you said they are stunned and awed, its called Transhuman dread is something all normal humans feel when in close proximity to space marines.
I'd rather preferred to see the following of the fight against Chaos dudes... Orks and Tyranids are my least preferred factions in the warhammer universe... It would also be cool to see a sort of "choose your own path/ending" mechanism such as that one we saw in the Dawn of War series... So you could maybe choose to embrace the chaos side with Titus or see Titus promoted / enlisted into a cool Deatwatch team... Or see him facing cooler factions such as Tau or Necrons and Dark Eldars...
@9:50 Gold Studs denotes 100 years of service. Silver studs = 50 I believe. Some say they couldn't make out if the studs were gold or not. If the marine reaches 100 years the silver stud would be replaced with a gold one. Titus has 4 GOLD studs here. Over 400 years of service to The Emperor.
Dont know if you noticed this but the cadian we see has purple eyes which I find cool since cadians have purple eyes which i like the attention to detail. also if you noticed Titus has chains wrapped on his arm that signifies he's spent time with the black templars.
@@arly803 but deathwatch don't wrap there arms in chains plus he would be wearing a deathwatch shoulder pad on his left arm to signify he was in the deathwatch at somepoint.

Dunno how to interpret it, but there's an Inquisition insignia hanging on the chain that you can see in the last shot of Titus walking toward the tower, for what it's worth I don't know much about WH40k lore, but I assume he was with Inquisition and not Black Templars, because apparently they can't stand each other.
@@arly803 well he was taken away by them and the inquisition. perhaps the inquisition sent him off with the BT after they finished with him to, in a way, retrain him in imperial devotion after the allegations levelled in the first game? at the end of the day, I have no idea honestly so take this with a hefty amount of scepticism.
Not all that surprised that Titus crossed the Rubicon. Interesting that he appears to be a lieutenant now. Also he has 4 gold service studs, so a significant amount of time has passed since the first game. Offhand I can't remember if gold studs are 50 or a hundred years, so somewhere between 100 and 200 years.
to be fair, he was a captain of a company that already had a captain, so "demoting" him to lieutenant would be a reasonable "not quite punishment" after the events of the first game?
@@AnikaJarlsdottr Simply put, he was Captain of the 2nd Company instead of Sicarius because of, ya know, alternate world sorta thing where Sicarius was never the 2nd Company Captain
@@dcohen1359 And as for this, the guy's a blank. That much is clear. No need to execute a blank, considering the Inquisition and Titus himself most likely figured that notion out.

"Fuuuuuuck yes!" firstly. Secondly my hope is that they.... 1:innovate on the formula of "fuck you, I'm a space marine!" 2: give Titus a badass and kickass resolution. Like I can't imagine that Guilliman would give Titus even a cursory glance without going "this dude.... make him a commander!" etc. 3: a resolution between Titus and Leandros. I am probably in the minority, but like... Leandros being a hard-bitten veteran badass, but in the end, game recognizes game, and he realizes, with the age of maturity, that Titus is just the biggest dick possible to ram down the tyranid throat lol.
Those ain't Genestealers, those are full on Tyranids. No vanguard needed, the Hive is here and shit's gonna be fucked. I am so hype. As for why the las fire's going both ways: with the Nids swarm tactics, they're likely surrounded. For the gold studs those each represent 100 years. He had two in the first game, so the time skip was 200 years. As for Titus, the original plan was he would be in Deathwatch in the second game, then found his own Chapter in the third. In this he's a Primaris Lt., so that plans probably out the window sadly.
These days waking up to a surprise is not a pleasant experience. Not anymore. Or at least not today! I think we might actually see Guillaman himself in this game! After all we have Ultramarines who are Primarus upgraded. I hope Mark Strong voices our favorite smurf codex Astartes minimizer again.
Ohh ya boy Titus got Primarisfied? And it's at least 200 years after the first game at least going by the extra service studs? Also really going to miss Warboss Grimskull he was an absolute champ.
People tend to forget the religious significance of seeing a space marine, it’s like say seal team six or the SAS where you would hear about them in say hushed tones or in say stories, only to see how effective they really are and again, space marines are considered the same as angels where you’ve only seen them once every generation or heck even throughout the entire century, you’ve never seen a space marine and much like solders tend to embellish certain stories around the campfire such as say taking on ten taliban hand to hand or what not, extending the gravitas and might of an astartes vs the shock of seeing it for yourself and the absolute carnage as an eight foot tall Demi god rips the enemy as if they were like rag dolls
Nobody mentioning that that isn't Captain Titus that is Lieutenant Titus. His fig leaves are gone and replaced with a red and white helmet. Apparently the discussion with the inquisitors didn't go well.
I mean, he's alive. It went better than we expected. Others would have been executed, especially since it was both the inquisition and the black templars who took him in the end, not exactly a reasonable bunch.
Looks like Cato Sicarius took his position while he was being investigated. He likely ended up spending time with Deathwatch to clear his name too. They couldn't exactly just leave the Company Captain spot empty while he was out doing that for however long.
1:45 those arent gene stealers btw they are termagants which are the foot soldiers, and therefore isnt the vangaurd this is the hive fleet proper invading some world.
Its nice to see how accurate your knowledge of 40k lore has become over the past year/2 years. -Just to point out, -The Nids you see first in the trailer are Gaunts, the Gaunts are the most common infantry unit in an hive fleet, wich exists in a few variants, but the 2 main variants are Hormagaunts, that are specialised in Mass Melee assaults, with 2 pairs of Scything claws( long sword/scyth like claws) and the Termagaunts, who are all equipped with ranged Bio-weapons, that spits acidic needles or high velocity parasites that burrows into the victimes flesh and releases toxins or explodes. -It is theorised that after been taken away by the Inquisition, Titus passed all their tests, then either Joined the Deathwatch or fought along side the Black Templars( since the Inquisitors that picked him up was accompanied by Black Templars). -Those 2 things can be explained by the chain wrapped around his vambrace, wich is usually a Black Templars tradition, that he would have picked up as a sign of respect, and his time in the deathwatch could be explained by his combat knowledge vs Tyranids. Its kinda hinted at the way he disposes off the Tyranid Warrior, by first puncturing his chest and then ripping his head off. Tyranid Warriors acts as Hive mind Nodes or relays, wich allows for the Hive mind to have better control of the grunts lifeforms through Warriors and more advanced Lifeforms. Warriors are still relatively small compared to other larger organisms, so they have 2 Nodules, one at the back of their Neck and one in their chest, a bit like the Nerf ganglions of a cockroach. So him disposing of bothn shows that he has a better knowledge of the Xenos physiology, thus the Theory that he spent some time in the Deathwatch is very likely, even tho he doesn't have a Deathwatch shoulderpad in the trailer( Marines that served in the deathwatch CAN show it by sporting the DW shoulder pad, but its not a requirement) -When Roboute Guilliman revived, he made some more changes to the Codex Astartes, he brough back the Lieutenant position, wich din't exist anymore after the Horus Heresy, and divided Companies into -Demi Companies, so that they would be easier to command and move around as a neccesity for rapid response during the Indomitus Crusade and the whole Dark Imperium thing. So while Titus was retrograded from Captain to Lieutenant, he is a Primaris Lieutenant( he has gone through the procedure to become a Primaris Marine) of the 2nd Co, so its not much of a retro-gradation, but more like a side promotion? -The IG shows that he has a purple Hue in his eyes, wich shows that he is a Native Cadian, or at least a direct descendant of a Cadian( people on Cadia had their eyes purple due to the influence of the Eye of Terror)
i think the Hormagaunts taking a step back was meant to be a first hint that it was Titus - as he is a blank his which not only borderline immune to the warp and other psychic effects but also gives off aura of very low level psychic disruption. This seemingly confused them for a second as normally such low ranking Tyranids don't even have much of a brain as its a waste of resources and are linked by the hivemind to warriors that can give orders mentally to them, the Warrior also seemed surprised that they stopped and was forced to vocally drive them to attack. On the tabletop Tyranids had a rule that if certain unit was out of the range of a commanding/hivemind node creature like a warrior they had to make a roll to see if they would move or attack by instinct e.g forced to move to or attack nearest foe or waste a turn looking around.
I think the lasfire both ways could represent how genestealers(even if these aren't genestealers) are humanoid enough to steal and use the weapons of those they infiltrate.
It makes sense that the Ultramarines are where ever the Tyranids appear. After nearly loosing their homeworld to the Nids they are eager to battle them. And they certainly have the experience to do so.
3:00 i noticed this too. i think its more a cinematography fail than anything else. the way they cut the camera angels made it seem like shots were coming from all directions, but actually the guardsman was just running back to cover, where his squad was proving covering fire.
Well one major change I see is that "Captain Titus" is now "Lieutenant Titus" with the shoulder skull and the red and white helmet stripes, its a symbol of that rank for the Ultramarines. Also the marines he's with, the one with the Red helmet is a Sergeant and the other, you can see on his knee a red ring painted there, which is the symbol for a veteran. Could be Leandros and Sidonis he's with. Also if you can see what's hanging from that chain on Titus' arm it looks like an Inquisition icon, so it looks like he might be helping them with something.
5:00 I'm guessing a 40k version of the C130 gunship would be a very good thing for both suppressing the enemy, and giving friendly human troops, space and time to get themselves organised. As in servantor drones with heavey bolters, heavey laz guns, ect, on jet ships, flying over the infected area. With the drones programmed to shoot anything alive and moving that doesn't look human, or working for the Imperium. Like facial recognition software, programmed into the servantures gun ships. Yes, this probably won't work for enslaved humans of the zenos, but it should still, make a significant difference. As in, if your drone is powered by advanced nuclear fusion engines, that's also feeding the heavey lazer gun turrets, like a 40k version of the current US navy lazer weapon system (not lazer guided, but an actual lazer weapon they have now), you don't need vast amounts of ammunition.
In wh 40k lore the humans don't use drones due to the civil war occurred many thousands years before the Horus Heresy, which saw humankind almost extinct by the war against sentient robots... Today the humankind uses only cyborg and/or cyborg drones such as cherubins or servitors of the Admech branch of the Imperium... Only Tau'n and Eldars uses fully automated drones... And, to be more precise too, Eldar drones are not fully automated since they are driven by spirit stones of ancient eldars and also eldar farseers that are demamded to guide such "imperfect drones" into battle. Or the Necrons... Also have "drones"... Even if they are guided by some sort of "mechanical magic" mixed with Necrontyr tech and pacts with the "Ctan old ones"... Only Necron Scarabs, maybe, are fully sentient and automated drones. The normal Necron "troopman" is a devoid and soulless automaton that slowly walks into battle, driven only by Necron Magic or Necron tech, as stated above...
Someone pointed out the chains on his hand are from service in the deathwatch, which was where I theorized he was taken at the end of the first game. Inquisition doesn't waste good assets, if they'd use a trapped demon, then they'd use him.
Wearing weathered armor is a point of pride, all those dents and scratches are like medals. Like old Prussians, they wear scars as badges of honor. More experienced Astartes can even recognize which scratches came from which xeno weapon or claw.
The studs are per 100 years and he had two in the first game, so yeah 2 centuries since we last saw him. Apparently he’s been demoted from captain to lieutenant, judging from his armour. He’s also been through the Rubicon since he’s now a primaris, which is an ordeal and a half. The chain around his wrist is indicative of Black templars, maybe he had to go serve with them for a while as penance. The little pendant attached to the chain could also indicate inquisition or Deathwatch service as well.
As someone who watched this reveal live, let me point out a little something that you couldn't appreciate having come to this later. If you're coming into this blind, you don't know what this is. It's clearly a 40K game, but it could be ANY 40K game...until Tidus removes his helmet. That is when you know that this is FINALLY Space Marine 2. Trust me, it was a rush.
Well, this is a surprise indeed. Seeing Saber Interactive shows promise (I remember their Time Shift game, it was pretty good yet underrated shooter). I think I read somewhere how the Space Marine would have been part of Trilogy (first we know, second would be Titus escaping his custody and getting back home and third would be him becoming a chapter master). As always, we should wait and see. Who knows, maybe that plan is still valid. As for the enemies, if there are Tyranids, there will probably be Genestealer cults too (they would be packing stolen imperial firepower). Someone already pointed out the Terma/Hormagaunts so I'll leave it at that. Edit to add: the ''hand-me-down'' aspect was present even during the Great Crusade (in one Horus Heresy book when some characters go back in time, and Ollanius Pius (their leader) instructs others to take the fallens' weapons, for they arrived at a point where those were almost brand-new conditionwise than what they already had).
A gold stud is 100 years, so Titus has survived for 400 years!!! That makes him a grizzled veteran by spacemarine standards, a true badass!!!!!! Combined with crossing the Primaris rubicon, and he is even more deadly!!!!
5:37 Me a Black Templar player whose chosen sons where defending the very SEAT the the throne palace when the boys in blue where playing marco polo with the warp
Note the chain with the symbol of the Inquisition on Titus' arm. Ya boi not only got a slap on the wrist, but very likely got seconded to the Deathwatch.
A nice little touch, if you look at Titus I think right hand, its clad in chain with what looks like an inquisitorial seal. So he still has the eyes of the inquisition on him and likely some service of distrust.
I’d say dawn of war is the classic, definitive game of the franchise. But space marine is pretty good. I’m salty about the fact that Titus is a primaris marine now, but sure. As for the trailer itself, yeah it pretty damn epic. If only they put this much effort into hammer and bolter. Might have made warhammer + worth it.
4:25 - even though your take is correct, the space marines actually do not need a "clear" landing zone. They clear it by dropping. (typically by drop pod)
The drop pods were only used when absolutely necessary or when the officer in charge thought that would give the Imperial forces decisive edges Also most of the initial pods are always dummy ones with extra ammo for onboard weapons to clear the LZ before the main forces arrive. So even SM try to deploy in secure LZ without drop pod first. Without that, they would clear LZ first before getting all the forces in.
FYI, Ultramarines were the biggest legion so they have a LOT of successors and they have a logistics, recruitment and support network that sees them flooded with recruits. Of all the chapters, they can recover from loses the quickest.
You awful hard on the Guardsman ( I think he a Cadian by uniform and his purple eyes) , i like the no resupply , hand-me down gear, cut off theory. There some good story ideas in that.
I feel like that Guardsman would have seen a Space Marine at some point unless he's a very recent recruit. I mean he's an actual Cadian if you look closely at his purple eyes.
If this trailer had dropped 4 or 5 years ago I would be all about the hype, but now I'm just offering prayers to the God Emperor in hopes that they don't massacre my boy.
Even the tyranids know their day is about to go from a casual hack and slash to we fuc*ed up here guys in a few seconds when spacemarines get boots on the ground
A quick few things: Enemies in the beginning are Termagants, Genestealers would look much more humanlike. Timewise it is probably during Dark Imperium/Indomitus Crusade, because of the pattern of power armour. The Service Studs are golden, so signify 100 years of service each.

We don't see any present so we'll just assume that this is a pure Tyranid force and it's just confusing cinematography, but Genestealers would be a valid explanation nonetheless.
I hadn’t yet considered we may need to deal with GSC.
I mean, genestealer cults usually precede a Tyranid invasion so both sides shooting each other makes sense.
I think instead of the sound of a breaking stick it would be better if it was a mix between a charging laser sound and the crack of a whip.
So...
@@Eurodance_Groove It is literally the same effect as lightning. If they want an accurate sound effect for it, that is what they should use.
Like the laser rifle in Fallout 4, it dont sound "classic pew pew" energy weapon like the plasma one.
The gold studs are 100 years each, he had 2 in the other game so it's been around 200 years. He is also a Primaris Marine, so this is after Girlyman has woken up.
He also has the deathwatch chain in his arm, so it's probably even longer, as the time served in there isn't counted for the studs.

Same. But I’m concerned we’re not getting any gameplay. Hopefully I’ll be proven wrong
Oh that's brutal. Poor Titus. I hope Leandros stepped on a landmine.
Hormagaunts not genestealers. Basic assault units of the hive fleets, they lay eggs that hatch within hours.
Xenomorph moment
"There are genestealers."
*Points at gaunts*
The Tyrannids that's attacking this planet is Hive fleet leviathan, one of the largest and most recent Hive fleet that's threatening the Imperium.
The red stripe on his helmet means Titus is now demoted to lieutenant and is crossed the Rubicon Primaris and is now a Primaris space marine
The guardsmen in this are cadians

Imagine if there’s a segment where he hops into an invictor tactical warsuit! Or just a later release as a dreadnought.
Orks a second time would be a bit bland if it's Orks for two Space Marine games, no?
Maybe we will get an Orkz DLC, along with other nominal races to punch in the face like Chaos and T'au.
Judging by the chain in his arm, Titus served some time in the deathwatch after the inquisition got him, that would have been the perfect oportunity to have a lot of variety, since they have marines from pretty much every chapter there. Hell, we might even have some flashback missions or a dlc to give some details about that period.

I liked the little detail of the purple Cadian eyes. The planet broke before the guard.
From what little we saw they clearly know the basic frame of what a Marine sequel need to be, time will tell if they can nail the details.
There were only lasbolts coming from the guardsmen's direction. It's just that in the first scenes of the battle the Vox operator was falling back and facing his own side's line.
Did you notice those Guardsmen were Cadian? They had purple pupils.
I like to think the conversation leading to this went something like:
*Inquisitor:* "The good news is, you're being released.
1:38 those are Hormagaunts - Not gene stealers
Could you imagine Guillaman appearing near the end to aid you in fighting whoever is the 2nd enemy faction in the end of the game?
I'd rather preferred to see the following of the fight against Chaos dudes... Orks and Tyranids are my least preferred factions in the warhammer universe... It would also be cool to see a sort of "choose your own path/ending" mechanism such as that one we saw in the Dawn of War series... So you could maybe choose to embrace the chaos side with Titus or see Titus promoted / enlisted into a cool Deatwatch team... Or see him facing cooler factions such as Tau or Necrons and Dark Eldars...
If you want to see ennemies visibly being damaged when shot, doom eternal does that
@9:50 Gold Studs denotes 100 years of service. Silver studs = 50 I believe.
Some say they couldn't make out if the studs were gold or not. If the marine reaches 100 years the silver stud would be replaced with a gold one. Titus has 4 GOLD studs here. Over 400 years of service to The Emperor.
Glad to see Titus was cleared of all charges of treason.

"Lasguns going in both directions" could be a sneaky tease about genestealer cultists showing up in the game.
Its nice to see how accurate your knowledge of 40k lore has become over the past year/2 years.
-Just to point out,
-The Nids you see first in the trailer are Gaunts, the Gaunts are the most common infantry unit in an hive fleet, wich exists in a few variants, but the 2 main variants are Hormagaunts, that are specialised in Mass Melee assaults, with 2 pairs of Scything claws( long sword/scyth like claws) and the Termagaunts, who are all equipped with ranged Bio-weapons, that spits acidic needles or high velocity parasites that burrows into the victimes flesh and releases toxins or explodes.
So him disposing of bothn shows that he has a better knowledge of the Xenos physiology, thus the Theory that he spent some time in the Deathwatch is very likely, even tho he doesn't have a Deathwatch shoulderpad in the trailer( Marines that served in the deathwatch CAN show it by sporting the DW shoulder pad, but its not a requirement)
-When Roboute Guilliman revived, he made some more changes to the Codex Astartes, he brough back the Lieutenant position, wich din't exist anymore after the Horus Heresy, and divided Companies into -Demi Companies, so that they would be easier to command and move around as a neccesity for rapid response during the Indomitus Crusade and the whole Dark Imperium thing.
If they were in the imperium Nihilus the space marines would be blood angels not ultramarines
If only John Bain was still with us to see this.
I like that he explains advance concepts really simply.
I doubt it's Sidonius... since, you know, he kinda got dead in the first game.

I'm guessing a 40k version of the C130 gunship would be a very good thing for both suppressing the enemy, and giving friendly human troops, space and time to get themselves organised.
@@Eurodance_Groove Yeah, that's what I ment. Servitor drones. Sorry if I misspelled it.

Oh man our boy Titus looks pretty good for being a senior.
Wearing weathered armor is a point of pride, all those dents and scratches are like medals. Like old Prussians, they wear scars as badges of honor.
More experienced Astartes can even recognize which scratches came from which xeno weapon or claw.

The camera was turning around, which made you think the lasgun fire was coming from both directions.
3:06 the reason the shots are going both ways it because there are most likely tyrranid hybrid guardsmen.
Titus also carries chains with an Inquisitorial seal on his arm which could indicate that he has served some time as a Black Templar between the games

the golden studs are 100 years a pop, so two hundred years has passed from space marine 1
4:25 - even though your take is correct, the space marines actually do not need a "clear" landing zone. They clear it by dropping. (typically by drop pod)
The drop pods were only used when absolutely necessary or when the officer in charge thought that would give the Imperial forces decisive edges
Also most of the initial pods are always dummy ones with extra ammo for onboard weapons to clear the LZ before the main forces arrive.
So even SM try to deploy in secure LZ without drop pod first. Without that, they would clear LZ first before getting all the forces in.

Enjoyed the first one. Can't fkin wait. Absolute badass.
FYI, Ultramarines were the biggest legion so they have a LOT of successors and they have a logistics, recruitment and support network that sees them flooded with recruits. Of all the chapters, they can recover from loses the quickest.
Even in the great crusade they were the biggest legion by far.
@@xxklesx1 They were until Calth happened.
Can't wait for Space Marine 3 where we get to play as Venerable Titus.
Those dots on Titus head signify 100 years
It’s cool to see, after watching Astartes for the first time, just how much you immersed yourself in the lore and got to know everything about it.
given the lives space marines live, i'd say the years have been really good to Titus
You awful hard on the Guardsman ( I think he a Cadian by uniform and his purple eyes) , i like the no resupply , hand-me down gear, cut off theory. There some good story ideas in that.
Titus has 2 more gold studs so 400 years of service and he got demoted to Lieutenant from a Captain
The dots on his forehead are Centurio service studs. So he has been serving for 400 years.
Here's to hoping they'll use the same voice-actor.
The dots are gold, so it is 100 years each.
I feel like that Guardsman would have seen a Space Marine at some point unless he's a very recent recruit. I mean he's an actual Cadian if you look closely at his purple eyes.
@5:32 Tyranids should *NOT* back up like that. They have a synapse creature in range, tyranid Warrior -they ALSO know no fear.
ALSO Titus was....demoted.
If this trailer had dropped 4 or 5 years ago I would be all about the hype, but now I'm just offering prayers to the God Emperor in hopes that they don't massacre my boy.
What you mean?!?
Even the tyranids know their day is about to go from a casual hack and slash to we fuc*ed up here guys in a few seconds when spacemarines get boots on the ground
I wish they added some global conquest mode, like DoW: Soulstorm has for example.
thats a 400year vet my guy, also in primaris armor sweet
infocus did the trailer and some of the work for space hulk deathwing, the trailer for that game was pretty cool and well done as well
every gold studs on hes forehead is 100 years, so he is above 400 years old.
He also got the additional gene seed to be a primaris marine.
