      As a Pens fan, I miss when these teams truly hated each other and were both decent. These games were waaay more crazy and fun than NHL games today.

    Darius was a BEAST! He was so exciting to watch as a rookie with the Islanders.....he feared no player.....he played his game, always on the edge.

    Lindros delivered plenty of big hits, some were dirty! Players know that and have to be aware of who’s on the ice and keep your head up when moving into the D-zone

      If Lindros had his head on a swivel he could have been top 5 NHL forwards ever. He had size, strength, skill and a mean streak. I remember once he shattered Joe Thornton face with one punch.

    This era of hockey was my favorite. Brings back amazing memories. That Flyers team was huge.Lindros, Leclair, Brind'Amour

    Why can't hockey be like this now? I get skill and speed but you have to respect the gritt and toughness of the older players. Actually fights with emotion, not just reacting to your star player getting bumped.

    Hockey was so much better back then. Even during the so called Dead Puck Era, it was physical, players were held accountable on the ice and there were lots of fights. Now when someone lands a hard open ice check they call a penalty.

      You are absolutely right. How did Philadelphia respond to a good clean hit? With a lot of dirty plays. I went to Penn State from 1993 to 1997 and had to take the brunt of abuse from Philadelphia fans on their way to the cup in which of course they got swept. Kasparitis's hit on Lindros was quite welcome.

    Flyers won the game 4-3 in OT. Funny how they wanted at Kasparaitis but Colin Forbes fought him, not exactly a fighter. Should have activated Dan Kordic who had a head like a cinder block but instead they send a Phantom after him. And note how Gratton and Slegr were throwing hands and not the mating dance that passes for fighting these days.

      @@johntempleton3560 it's what most people want, people want gladiators. Look at the minor leagues...attendance has been down for years. I remember as a kid in the 90's going to regular season minor league games and it being packed regularly. Without fighting or hard hitting in hockey the fans get too bored. It's a more intense competition when the players actually dislike one another opposed to being buddies. Fans are territorial by nature, it's natural to want your team/tribe to be the best/toughest. Law of the jungle will always exist no matter how hard humanity tries to socially engineer it out of us. If you remove this stuff from the game, it become something else it never was, and to many people it becomes watching great athletes exercise on skates with no emotion.

    What I don't agree with is how morozov and kasparitis were laughing at lindros being hurt. Not only is it messed up and disgusting but there shouldn't be any place in the game for it. Sends terrible message. Regardless of how you feel about lindros he was the face of the league and a human being, brother son friend ect.. also when he fought Forbes he turtled..he couldn't fight a lick..big tough guy laughing at devastating injuries yet he wont stand in and throw punches..real tough guy

      Listen, Morozov was a 20 years old rookie from Russia who was still learning the game of NHL, the code and things like that. I bet he never seen these kind of hits before and he was just impressed. For sure, he did not mean to send any message to the community.
      And speaking of Darius, you just have to know him. He is a very cool guy but he did not have brakes until he turned 35 or even 40. Gosh, he was married three times. It says a lot!

    A Flyer should have crosschecked Kasparaitus right across the face to actually send a message. Break his jaw/orbitals and take the suspension. The hit Kasparaitus delivered was the downfall of Big E, Flyers fans will never forget him high fiving his penguin teamates on the bench while Lindros was down.
